Banijay, the European superindie that owns Keeping Up With The Kardashians producer Bunim/Murray, has found itself in the middle of its own dramatic reality series in recent months after emerging as one of the frontrunners to buy Big Brother and Black Mirror rival Endemol Shine.
Most companies would hide under the covers until a deal is either done or the gossip has subsided. However, Banijay, which has 61 production labels in 16 countries, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month and, as such, CEO Marco Bassetti is doing the rounds to blow out as many candles as possible.

Flicks magazine used to be available free of charge at cinemas across the land. One of its former employees tells its story...
If you were growing up in the late 1980s and early 1990s, your cinema-going ritual was written in stone. Tickets were bought face-to-face in the foyer after queuing outside (sometimes for hours). You grabbed your wine gums, Maltesers and butterscotch from the concession stand (popcorn? What’s that?). You took your (unreserved) seat in the non-smoking section and settled down to wait for the pa-pah pa-pah Pa-pah of the Pearl & Dean ads ahead of a promo film for a local Indian restaurant and Kia-ora's latest attempt to flog you a glow-in-the-dark blend of E-numbers and sugar.
Oh, and you always – always! – had your free copy of Flicks clutched in your hand.

"The Imitation Game" director Morten Tyldum is teaming with Yellow Bird to develop an English-language version of their 2011 Norwegian comic thriller "Headhunters".
Based on Jo Nesbo's 2008 novel, the story chronicles the escapades of a high-living corporate headhunter who steals artwork from rich clients to finance his expensive lifestyle. When a heist unexpectedly goes wrong, he ends up in way over his head. Aksel Hennie and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau starred in the original film.
Both a feature and TV series remake of the film are being considered with a search currently underway for a writer. Morten Tyldum, Marianne Gray, Berna Levin and Janne Tyldum will produce.
Yellow Bird previously setup a "Headhunters" TV series at HBO and Lionsgate in 2013, a project that did not go past the development stage with the rights now reverting back to Yellow Bird. Neither HBO or Lionsgate are involved any longer.

All The Winners Below... As Soon As They're Announced!
But the evening's big winner remains very much undecided, with awards being shared out between 'Argo', 'Life of Pi' and 'Les Miserables' - and nothing yet for the nominations leader 'Lincoln'.
Pictures just in from the press room at the Royal Opera House, where the winners go straight after collecting their gongs..
Sam Mendes' 007 film beat Tom Hooper's 'Les Miserables' to take the first gong of the night. And 'Skyfall' has just taken another award, for Best Original Music.

The Guardian film team predict who will win what at this year's ceremony
On Friday Xan Brooks assessed the field of this year's Bafta contenders and found it "a hazy huddle of frontrunners, all seemingly bobbing back and forth in front of the finish line".
Lincoln is first among equals with 10 nominations. Les Misérables, Life of Pi, Skyfall and Argo all crowd in behind.
The awards momentum has swung from Life of Pi to Lincoln to Argo over the past few weeks. In a competition this close there could be upsets. There should be tears. There must be winners.
So here's what we think will take home scary award masks this year. We've listed all the nominees. Our predicted winners are in bold.

The 2013 British Academy Film Award announced this morning its nominations which were dominated by acclaimed U.S. movies.
BAFTA honors historical biopic Lincoln with 10 nominations, though Steven Spielberg wasn’t nominated for best director.
Boy-meets-tiger saga Life of Pi and epic musical Les Misérables received nine nominations each, while James Bond adventure Skyfall had eight nods and Iran hostage thriller Argo seven. Tom Hooper also was dismissed on the direction front.
Other mulitple nominations include a period film based on the famous Tolstoy novel, Anna Karenina with six and the riveting, powerhouse thriller Zero Dark Thirty and western directed by Quentin Tarantino, Django Unchained have 5 nominations each.

The British Academy of Film and Television Awards have released their full list of nominees for 2013, with ‘Lincoln’ & ‘Les Misérables’ leading the pack!
Awards season is here once again, and Les Misérables, Lincoln, Li of Pi, Django Unchained and Zero Dark Thirty are some of the many films that have been nominated for the 2013 BAFTA Awards. Actresses of the moment Anne Hathway and Jennifer Lawrence have both been nominated — Anne for Best Supporting Actress for Les Mis and Jennifer for Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook. You go girls!
Lincoln leads the nominations with a whopping 10, with stars Daniel Day Lewis (he is so going to win!), Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field all receiving recognition. Director Steven Spielberg, however, got totally snubbed!
From Les Mis, the only actors nominated are Anne and Hugh Jackman. Argo and Life of Pi also received also nine nominations, while Skyfall recieved eight. And Ben Affleck got not one,...

At this point in awards season, it’s pretty hard to surprise us. The Oscar nods are going to be announced tomorrow morning, and we’re pretty sure the top of the list will look like this: Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, Les Miserables, Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, Django Unchained, Life of Pi … So anyway, we could be inclined to yawn when looking at the nominations for the British Academy Film Awards (a.k.a. the BAFTAs), as the L films — Lincokn, Les Miz and Life of Pi — are in the lead. That’s why we like looking at the details, like the Outstanding British Film category, which gives Skyfall, Anna Karenina and Seven Psychopaths a chance to shine. There’s also the Rising Star award, nominated by a panel but voted on by the public. This year Elizabeth Olsen, Suraj Sharma (Pi), Andrea Riseborough (W.E.), Juno Temple (Dark Knight Rises...

Lincoln led all films with 10 BAFTA nominations, but director Steven Spielberg was not among the five directors recognized by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Daniel Day-Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field, cinematographer Janusz Kaminski, screenwriter Tony Kushner, and composer John Williams were among the Lincoln landslide, but the British Academy opted to reward Amour director Michael Hanake and Django Unchained auteur Quentin Tarantino, even though neither of those films were mentioned for Best Film.

The BAFTA film nominations are in. You can read the list of nominees in full here...
We are now well into awards list season. We've already had the list of Razzie nominees, and the actors and filmmakers up for an Oscar nod will be revealed tomorrow. In the meantime, here's the British Academy's list of nominees, which features a strong showing from Lincoln, Les Mis and even Skyfall - a surprising inclusion, given that Bond movies are usually overlooked at these sorts of things.
Make what you will of the list that follows, but we're more than a little disappointed to see The Pirates: In An Adventure With Scientists missed out of the animation category, and we're pretty sure Ben Wheatley's Sightseers deserved some sort of mention, too.
The BAFTA awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 10th February, after which there'll be face painting and a meat raffle.

David Fincher's adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is only the latest English-language version of a hit Scandi film to disappoint at the box office. Have we now got a taste for 'authentic originals'?
When producer Scott Rudin optioned the English-language rights on Stieg Larsson's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo books in early 2010, he'd be forgiven for anticipating a slam-dunk hit. He had a global bestseller and two lead characters likely to attract A-list actors. The only snag was that the material had already yielded film versions in the original Swedish. But these had yet to open in the key English-speaking markets, which would surely be way more excited about a version directed by David Fincher and starring Daniel Craig. Right?
Fast-forward two years, and the film's main backer, MGM, disclosed to its investors that box-office for Fincher's film was "below our expectations and...

On Wednesday evening I, along with many other London film fans, had the pleasure of attending The Jameson Cult Film Club’s pre-screening of Jo Nesbo’s Headhunters at London’s fabulous Saatchi Gallery.
This film is based around the charming Roger Brown (Askel Hennie) who leads a double life, unbeknown to his beautiful wife Diana (Synnove Lund), as both a successful head-hunter and an accomplished art thief by night. This thrilling film was surprisingly gripping as Roger is thrown in to a dangerous life on the run after being involved in his riskiest heist so far.
The Jameson Cult Film Club aims to host their screenings at locations which truly transport the guests into the genre of the film so with fine art pieces taking a central role in Headhunters, the Saatchi Gallery proved to be a very fitting venue. Sacha Gervasi ("The Terminal," "Henry’s Crime") has been hired to adapt the English language film adaptation of Norwegian author Jo Nesbø's best-selling crime thriller "Headhunters" for Summit Entertainment and Yellow Bird reports Deadline.
The story chronicles the escapades of a high-living corporate headhunter who steals artwork from rich clients to finance his expensive lifestyle. When a heist unexpectedly goes wrong, he ends up in way over his head. Marianne Gray, Ole Sondberg, and Berna Levin are set as producers.
Much like with the recent Swedish and then American film adaptations of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", Yellow Bird produced a Scandinavian film adaptation first which scored a release back in August in Norway and will spread out to various other international territories early next year.
Martin Scorsese is also attached to direct an adaptation of Nesbo's "The Snowman" at Working Title.

Exclusive: An American version of Norwegian bestselling crime author Jo Nesbo’s new TV series Occupied is being talked about. That’s what I’m told by Swedish producer Marianne Gray, who gave the keynote speech at the Film London Production Finance Market this morning. American actors and a U.S. director are also being considered for the 8-episode Norwegian TV series, which is awaiting a green light from state broadcaster Nrk. Then there’s Nesbo’s novel Headhunters, which played at the BFI London Film Festival last night. The U.S. version is being adapted by Summit Entertainment as a $30M-40M movie and is now out to writers. Working Title is separately developing a feature film version of The Snowman, another bestseller by Nesbo whose books starring detective Harry Hole have sold 9 million copies worldwide. There are parallels here to the way Hollywood has been got for Steig Larsson’s crime novels.
