Cillian Murphy recently had some choice words for his film Red Eye (watch it Here), a Wes Craven-directed thriller that was released back in 2005. But he wasn’t entirely negative. So that got me thinking: Is Red Eye a good film? Or is it more in the so bad it’s good category? I personally saw Red Eye in theaters and have always had a soft spot for it. But if Oppenheimer‘s own Cillian Murphy has an issue with it, maybe it’s worth a second gander. So let’s see whether it’s good, bad, or somewhere in between as we revisit Red Eye in the video embedded above!
Scripted by Carl Ellsworth, who crafted the story with Dan Foos, Red Eye has the following synopsis: In the wake of her grandmother’s funeral, hotel manager Lisa Reisert is waiting to fly back home when she meets charming Jackson Rippner at check-in.

When Universal and Blumhouse announced that Matthew Lillard had joined the cast of "Five Nights at Freddy's" as a "human antagonist," it was assumed that he was playing the twisted franchise villain, William Afton. However, the trailers and official press releases all list him as "Steve Raglan" a career counselor who helps Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson) find his job as a security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. But "FNaF" fans aren't stupid, and the fandom is one of the most dedicated out there. You can't fool us, we know that man is William Afton.
It's assumed that "Steve Raglan" is just another pseudonym for Afton, and director Emma Tammi all but confirmed it as much to be true in the latest issue of Empire Magazine. "The human antagonist was the number one role that we really had the fan base in mind for," Tammi said. "What Matthew brings to all...

Editor’s Note: We’ve spent a while searching for a fitting replacement for Ashe (who we still miss), but we’re elated to welcome David Christopher Bell to our team. He’ll be writing insightful lists for us every Thursday from now until we stop blackmailing him for that thing he did in Florida in 1986. Please give him a warm welcome! It’s funny. After Anthony Perkins first appeared as Norman Bates there was absolutely no going back from it. No matter what role he was put in after Norman, when audiences looked at him all they could see was the shower-interrupting taxidermologist that they feared so deeply. This proved to be a major hindrance in his career, causing him never to land any major role in the industry afterward. Now if only he had worn a mask. After all, if horror films have taught us anything it’s that no matter how effective a performance...

Scream 4 Alternate Opening Scene Video. The alternate opening scene to Wes Craven‘s Scream 4 (2011) stars Britt Robertson, Aimee Teegarden, and Roger Jackson. Scream 4‘s plot synopsis: “Sidney Prescott, now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey and Gale, who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill and her Aunt Kate. Unfortunately, Sidney’s appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.”
We previously posted the Scream 2010: Scream 4 Teaser Trailer.
This alternate opening scene to Scream 4 does not imbue me with any desire to see this film. Its cool seeing Aimee Teegarden on the big screen though.
Scream 4 also stars Lucy Hale, Shenae Grimes, Dane Farwell, Anna Paquin,...

Ryan Turek, Editor-in-Chief of Shock Till You Drop and good chum of ours, has been hard at work. Between his upcoming Hellraiser doc and his Scream documentary, Still Screaming: The Ultimate Scary Movie Retrospective, debuting, this is a gent who hasn’t let any grass grow under his feet.
And we were lucky enough to jabber with him, at great length, about the weird, wild experience of turning the Scream franchise’s story into an engaging feature film, featuring Wes Craven, Neve Campbell, Liev Schreiber, Henry Winkler, Matthew Lillard, Jamie Kennedy, Laurie Metcalf, Parker Posey, Scott Foley and many others.
I think we’ll take the “On:” format for this one. Cool?

The saying goes, “There are no more original ideas”. Whether you agree or not, there are still films that push boundaries, tell original stories and, especially in the horror genre, scare the hell out of us. Wes Craven continues his Scream saga by stating the obvious – these films rehash the same story line and really aren’t that scary. Then he presents us with exactly that. "Scream 4" is essentially a remake of the original with a few minor changes. Craven at least has the decency to make fun of the franchise in the first ten minutes of the film but that could be more to his own benefit--it comes off as more of a copout than a clever plot device.

Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Limitless: $100m worldwide? Despite yesterday's estimates, Carlos Saldanha's animated 3D feature Rio failed to reach the $40m mark at the North American box office this past weekend, April 15-17. According to actuals found at Box Office Mojo, Rio grossed $39.22m, for a $10,252 per-theater average. Studio estimates, in fact, were inflated across the board, as you can see below. Rio, about an American-raised blue bird that finds love in Brazil, features the voices of Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Rodrigo Santoro, Jane Lynch, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Mann, Jamie Foxx, and George Lopez, Rio. Featuring Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Hayden Panettiere, Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell, Emma Roberts (Eric Roberts' daughter, Julia Roberts' niece), Rory Culkin, Mary McDonnell, Heather Graham, Adam Brody, Erik Knudsen, Dane Farwell, and Nico Tortorella, Wes Craven's Scream 4 opened with $18.69m, or about $600k less than the studio estimated.

David Arquette, Courteney Cox in Wes Craven's Scream 4 Carlos Saldanha's Rio Biggest Domestic Opening 2011, Tops International Box Office At no. 2 this weekend (April 15-17) in North America, Wes Craven's Scream 4 opened with a highly disappointing $19.27m — about $10m less than expected — as per studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. Dimension Films have released another still from the impending 'Scream 4' theatrical release. Alas this one is not particulary interesting much like quite a lot of it's predecessors, however, does give us a glimpse of Lucy Hale and Shenae Grimes in mouth-gawping action. Now, could this potentially be the opening scene to the upcoming slasher sequel from Wes Craven? We think it's pretty much a definite that these two babes are going to get visited by Ghostface in the first sequence. This fact is just strengthened by the interesting cast order currently listed at the IMDb. The first four names on the billing sheet are Lucy Hale as Sherrie, Roger Jackson as The Voice, Shenae Grimes as Trudie and Dane Farwell as Ghostface. Now, that has got to be spoilerific! Hale herself did let slip in an interview last January that she would be involved in the opening...

Boldface names made their way down the red carpet: the bolder the name, the faster they moved. Oops, there went Brad Pitt (Benjamin Button). Too late. But Alec Baldwin (30 Rock) did pause for a moment:
He picked up an award later that evening for male actor in a comedy series. Meanwhile, the unofficial award for cutest kids went to the ones playing adman Don Draper’s children in Mad Men. Kiernan Shipka looks sweet …
