With 264 episodes, not a single one of which doesn’t have something to recommend it, picking out the best of NBC’s Frasier (1993 – 2004) is a ridiculous thing to attempt. For a start, you’d need to include all of the dinner party episodes, obviously, plus every story in which Niles and Frasier ruinously compete with one another.
Such a list also couldn’t leave out any occasion on which John Mahoney as Marty Crane swerves mid-comedy to punch you in the gut with feelings, or any of Kelsey Grammer’s brilliantly controlled clowning.
You’d need to represent every perfectly timed trick from Eddie the dog, and have a fair smattering of Maris gags, Roz’s smart mouth and Daphne’s stories of an English childhood just to cover the basics. You’d be into the high 90s before you’d even got going.
To winnow it down to just the 50 best episodes of Frasier?...

A review of “Debbie,” this week’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine, coming up just as soon as I have 16 copies of Blind Melon’s first album…
“The Jimmy Jab Games II” and “Debbie” aren’t exactly a two-parter, but this one picks up where last week’s installment left off: with the squad trying to figure out who stole the drugs and assault weapons out of the evidence locker. It’s to this episode’s credit that everyone immediately pegs Debbie for the perp, since she’s too transparently odd to escape notice.

A familiar face from the world of American Horror Story is being dispatched to Fox’s 9-1-1 this fall in a role that producers crafted for her “without even realizing it.” Sometimes things just work out that way.
Christine Estabrook, who appeared as shady realtor Marcy in both Season 1 (Murder House) and Season 5 (Hotel) of American Horror Story, will appear in an upcoming episode of 9-1-1‘s second season, TVLine has learned exclusively. Working alongside newcomer Maddie (played by Jennifer Love Hewitt), Estabrook’s character is described as the “perfect” 9-1-1 dispatcher. Interestingly enough, the episode in...

American Horror Story's shared universe aspect comes into its own this week with the fun return of a Coven character...
This review contains spoilers.
1.11 Battle Royale
It took Ryan Murphy five seasons and a return to a familiar stomping ground to bring American Horror Story full circle. The recycling of Pepper last season was a nice touch, and the freak show or the asylum was a common destination for unfortunate microcephalics back in the dark days, so to have the character move from one to the other makes sense. However, there wasn't a lot of modern crossing-over, aside from using the same actors. That's changed with Hotel. Whether it's the La location or the modern setting, old familiar faces have been popping up (and usually dying horribly) within the confines of the Hotel Cortez.

Even people who never watched the original run of Dallas probably know that one of the series' major plotlines can be summed up in three simple words: "Who shot J.R.?" In the final moments of the show's third season finale, J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman), the show's scheming villain but also arguably its central character, was seen getting shot by an offscreen assailant.
Fans had to wait until the fourth season premiere to find out if J.R. had even survived. What some might not remember – and what was key to the "Who shot J.R.?" mystery becoming a...

5.1 Checking In
With American Horror Story entering its fifth season, it's more than fair to say that the show's been wobbly for the last couple of seasons. After the kooky fun of Murder House and the insanity of Asylum, subsequent runs Coven and Freak Show were examples of the show trying to do too much, going too far, pushing too many boundaries in the name of shock rather in the name of some sort of central story. Yes, American Horror Story has always taken on a lot, usually more than it can chew, and discarded bits here and there along the way like a child bored with his toys, but at least there was some kind of core holding it all together.

This past year, "American Horror Story" went from being the really, really great show that a small but dedicated (and, of course, deeply perverse) fan base watched to becoming a genuine, zeitgeist-capturing cultural phenomenon. (Fun fact: people love witches!) That means that all eyes are on the forthcoming new installment, "American Horror Story: Freak Show," which, should it stick to the show's broadcast schedule, should debut sometime before Halloween.
It's going to be a long, long few months until creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk and their band of merry deviants return to reap more bloody mayhem. (Especially if you've already watched the similarly brilliant, stand-alone "True Detective.") So what to do until then? Well, wildly speculate on what we want from the upcoming season of "American Horror Story," of course.

Desperate Housewives is over. For longtime fans of the ABC comedy-drama, the two-hour finale flew by. The first half concluded the preposterous murder trial against Bree (Marcia Cross). It was sad to see Bree led off to the death chamber manacled and in an unflattering orange jumper. Am I kidding? As narrator Mary Alice would say: Yesssssss … The second half saw the death of one of the best-loved residents of Wisteria Lane, plus a wedding and a birth. If you're at all up on the season you know who did what of which. In other words, it was sweet, it was pat,...

Death has always been big on Wisteria Lane.
That became extremely apparent back in March, when former Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan took ABC Studios to court over the on-screen death of her character Edie Britt, who she said was killed off the show in retaliation for an incident the actress had with series creator Marc Cherry. One of the central questions during those proceedings was: Does Desperate Housewives actually kill off big characters like Edie? A chunk of ABC’s defense was spent trying to prove that, partly by including a video montage of all the characters that had been killed.

The dead are returning to Wisteria Lane. According to TV Guide Magazine, James Denton and a mix of other guest stars whose characters have kicked the bucket are returning to "Desperate Housewives" for the series finale.
Denton's Mike was shot and killed off earlier in Season 8 -- not before having his death spoiled at former "Desperate Housewives" star Nicolette Sheridan's court hearing -- but he'll be back, along with a lot of familiar, yet dead, faces. Joining the walking "Desperate" dead are Steven Culp, Roger Bart, Richard Burgi and Lupe Ontiveros. More guest stars have yet to be revealed.
Former Wisteria Lane resident Martha Huber, played by Christine Estabrook, is also returning for the finale. Estabrook's character was the one who discovered Mary Alice Young's suicide. Martha was last seen in flashbacks at the start of Season 7.
Dana Delany, another familiar face, albeit not a dead one, is also returning for the series finale.

Mad Men 5.04 "Mystery Date" Review
Control and fear are at the center of this episode of Mad Men as a nightmare crime has gripped the attention of a nation that is already facing a summer of unrest, both on the home front with riots and internationally as the war in Vietnam rages on. These events have both an indirect and direct impact and certain big decisions are reached by the end of "Mystery Date."
Don (Jon Hamm) is sick with what appears to be the flu; he is so sick that he has to put out a cigarette after taking one drag because he is coughing so much. One problem that Don faces in mid-town is that the chances of bumping into a former flame are rather high, a fact that Megan (Jessica Paré) is happy to remind him of when this occurs in the elevator up to work with...

Welcome back, Mad Men! What has it been? Seventeen months? Not like anyone was counting down to your return. Or that everyone was counting down to your return…. Alright, we missed you, Mad Men. Tremendously. And the fact that you came back with a stellar two-hour episode — entitled “A Little Kiss” — meant that you missed us as well.
So, where to begin? That it is June 1966? How about with the fact that Don Draper (Jon Hamm) is back in the saddle, both at work and at home. Over at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, he’s still the big draw even after last season’s full-page, preemptive strike of an ad against cigarette companies (a stroke of genius in my book but a potential business killer in 1965). Clients, like Heniz and Mohawk Airlines, are drunkardly tripping over themselves — Pete Campbell-style — to work with the man. He’s also not playing a...

Hey, little piggies! Is everyone ready to pull back the shower curtain on the latest episode of American Horror Story? Careful - there's a big bad Persian Armenian wolf set to blow the house down and an undead housekeeper set to blow - well, I'm getting ahead of myself.
We start the episode, as usual, in a flashback. Constance (Jessica Lange) is crying in front of a crackling fire. Speaking of fire, a pre-burn Larry the Burn Man (Denis O'Hare) walks in and hangs up the phone behind her. She tells him that they're charging her with criminal child neglect or something like that - is she talking about Tate shooting up his school?
She makes an offhand reference to the child in question, noting, "Now you know how he is when he's not supervised" and mentions a name - Carl? Gal? Bowl? Damn you and your Old Dominion whispering,...

Spoiler Alert If You Haven’T Watched The Latest Episode Of American Horror Story! Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler!
Well, now we’ve met three of Constance’s four children. Tonight’s American Horror Story featured the introduction of Beau, who haunts the attic of the Harmon house after being smothered by Larry (Denis O’Hare). Beau was in desperate need of a hot oil hair treatment and a mani/pedi to say the least. Viewers also learned what exactly the “infantata” is (basically it’s a Frankenstein baby who does not enjoy breast feeding). The episode also ended with what appeared...

This week American Horror Story delivered the first half of a two-part Halloween episode, and let's just say that it sure as hell weren't no Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Loaded with more twists and turns than even the usual Ahs episode (which is saying a lot), this Halloween special delivered one of the nastiest shocks yet in the form of the death of a central character. Even worse? That central character was one of the only likeable ones in the bunch.
So toss on your Pretty Girl masks and let's pick this baby apart, shall we? Whoops - sorry, Charles and Norah, no pun intended!
This week's opening flashback takes us all the way back to 2010. You remember - that long-forgotten yesteryear when when Zachary Quinto was still straight. (All kidding aside, Zach, huge props for coming out last week.) Yes, Laquinto is in the House, playing Chad - one...

Welcome to the Murder House. “Murder House” was a scattered mess that gave vital clues, widening the haunted lineage of the House, but don’t think Ryan Murphy or Brad Falchuk have shown their cards just yet. After nearly being part of that history, Vivian (Connie Britton) put the House back up for sale after she and Violet were attacked, forcing the realtor (Christine Estabrook) who originally sold the house to them to do whatever she can to find a buyer. Vivian finds out why no other realtor will help sell the House when she sees a grizzly death tour is a regular stop at their front lawn. Back from Boston, Ben (Dylan McDermott) takes in a new client, a woman so boring that he blacks out in the middle of their session. When he wakes up he has blood on his hand and she ends up missing. That’s...

Harriet Samson Harris could return for the next season of Desperate Housewives. Mark Moses reprised his role as Paul Young in the season finale, which aired in the Us last night, and will be a series regular next season. He has now hinted that Harris could also return as Felicia, the sister of the woman Paul murdered earlier in the series, Martha Huber (Christine Estabrook). "There was some talk about [me coming back] a year ago," Moses told Entertainment Weekly. "And there's often talk in Hollywood. Sometimes it pans out, sometimes it doesn't. I don't get super-excited about a 'maybe' in this town, because there are lots of maybes that don't (more)...

On the latest episode of the CBS series Ghost Whisperer, there was a lesbian twist to the mysterious storyline. Jennifer Love Hewitt plays a woman named Melinda, who has a gift to see and hear those who haven't crossed over from death "into the light." On this week's "Till Death Do Us Start," Melinda is visited separately by a wife and husband who are dead, but the wife doesn't want to be with her husband in the afterlife.
Alongside her real life beau, Jamie Kennedy, who plays the couple's son, Eli, Melinda attempts to unravel the mystery surrounding the wife's resistance to see her husband, Ray. Through her visions, Melinda sees flowers and candles in a bath at the couple's lake house, and infers that Eli's mother, Evelyn (Christine Estabrook) was having an affair.
Evelyn doesn't want Melinda and Eli worrying about the past, so she tries to deter them from finding out anything else.

One of the lead characters' parent is dead in the next episode of "Ghost Whisperer". Described by star Jennifer Love Hewitt as one of the most controversial episodes yet, the third chapter into the fifth season will follow Eli's dark past in his family.
Eli's father suffers a massive heart attack, triggering a tangled reunion with Eli's mother, who has been dead almost ten years and unable to cross over, as a result of a secret she took to her grave. Called "Till Death Do Us Part", it will be aired on Friday, October 9.
Barry Newman guest stars as Ray James, Eli's dad, while Christine Estabrook plays Evelyn the mother. The show was casting younger versions of Eli, Ray, Evelyn, Anne, Casey and Don because there will be a bunch of flashbacks into the point of life where tragedy struck.
