Love is in the air in This Time Next Year, which is heading onto digital platforms this June. More on the film below.
It’s been a pretty good few months for fans of rom-coms. We’re still pretty amazed at just how well Anyone But You has done and we’re still now over Rye Lane’s emotional punch.
Now, Signature Entertainment has acquired the UK and Irish rights to Nick Moore’s rom-com This Time Next Year, as reported by Deadline. The film is written by Sophie Cousens, based on her own book and the film stars Sophie Cookson and Lucien Laviscount as the leads. John Hannah, Golda Rosheuvel, Monica Dolan, Mandip Gill and Anita Dobson also star.
Here’s the This Time Next Year trailer:
The film revolves around Minnie (Cookson) and Quinn (Laviscount), who discover they were born on the same day in the same hospital.

After Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall powered its way to five Oscar nominations, it was a common feeling that the film’s Mvp was short-changed on the big night. Though the film went home with Best Original Screenplay, Messi — the seven-year-old border collie who plays Snoop, the family dog who becomes an integral part of the courtroom drama — was not so lucky, returning empty-pawed to his native Paris. Not that he was an ungracious loser; a clip of the hound applauding Robert Downey Jr.’s win for Oppenheimer went viral, not least because it brought a huge spontaneous smile to the face of Barbie’s Ryan Gosling.
Being modest, Messi downplayed the fact that earlier in the day he had stolen the show at the Fido Awards in London, an awards ceremony that recognizes the work put in by canine thespians from around the world. From the same...

Exclusive: Some of the biggest UK drama production houses have started developing lower-budget slates in response to a depleted market and the success of local stories such as Mr Bates vs the Post Office.
The bosses of Doctor Who co-producer Bad Wolf and Crown maker Left Bank both told Deadline they have started nurturing a development pot for shows that cost less to make than their previous fare. Multiple other drama execs have indicated they are adopting a similar strategy as this week’s London TV Screenings places budget woes front and center of the conversation.
Speaking to Deadline about her upcoming BBC series Dope Girls, Bad Wolf co-founder Jane Tranter said her team’s development slate now contains “projects on a different budget scale to those we have been used to doing,” a move that she is enjoying.

ITV’s post office drama that has led to an intense period of reckoning for multiple institutions and pushed the issue to the front pages of UK newspapers for weeks has found a U.S. home.
PBS Masterpiece has picked up Mr Bates vs The Post Office, which will air in April.
Starring BAFTA-winners Toby Jones and Monica Dolan, the four-part show launched at the start of 2024 and dramatizes what is now deemed one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in UK legal history.
When money started to seemingly disappear from its local branches, the government-owned Post Office wrongly blamed their own managers for its apparent loss. For more than a decade, hundreds were accused of theft and fraud, and many were even sent to prison – leaving lives, marriages, and reputations in ruins. But the issue was actually caused by errors in the Post Office’s own computer system – something it denied for years.

The current landscape is making it “increasingly hard” to fund British stories such as the Post Office drama that is currently dominating the news agenda, according to ITV’s drama boss.
Polly Hill, who commissioned the four-parter that is on the front page of every national newspaper this morning, raised concerns that shows unique to British culture such as Mr Bates vs The Post Office are “important” but “increasingly hard to make.”
“It’s now become harder to fund these British stories,” said Hill, who was likely referencing super-inflation in the drama market and the need to attract co-production funding, which can dilute editorial. “We must be able to keep making them, because Mr Bates vs The Post Office shows that drama can help make a difference, and importantly that the audience wants to hear them.”

Exclusive: With the almost impossible-to-believe Post Office scandal bedecking the front of every national newspaper this week, the writer of the ITV smash drama about the saga has said it “tapped into” frustrations with the “politics of the moment.”
Gwyneth Hughes, who penned the Toby Jones-starring four-parter, said the team has been “blown away” and “completely surprised” by the cut-through and media attention generated by Mr Bates vs The Post Office, as she detailed the legal quagmire and years of gaining people’s trust they went through to get the show from inception to screen. She was speaking in the hours before a motion attempting to speedily put the scandal right was debated by dozens of lawmakers in parliament.

Audrey Amiss spent 30 years as a civil service typist – but led a secret life as an artist. Macdonald, Monica Dolan and Carol Morley relive the hectic shoot that turned her amazing life into a quirky road movie
Audrey Amiss was the talented daughter of Sunderland shopkeepers who made a splash in the press by winning a place at the Royal Academy’s schools in London. In her final term, she was hospitalised for the first of many mental breakdowns, after which she disappeared for 30 years into a job as a shorthand typist in the civil service. But unknown to anyone except those who tried to care for her, Amiss never gave up on her art. “I was once in the tradition of social realism, also called the kitchen sink school of painting,” she wrote. “But I am now avant garde and misunderstood.”

It was only a matter of time before “Black Mirror” came for the streaming industry, and Season 6 takes a couple of swings directly at Netflix right out of the gate. First with the star-studded, hyper-meta episode “Joan Is Awful,” which introduces the Netflix clone Streamberry (and an arsenal of Easter eggs and references therein). But Episode 2, “Loch Henry,” quiets things down to tackle a much more specific streaming ill — the soulless, exploitative true crime industrial complex and the constant stream of true crime docs digging up traumas from the past.
“Loch Henry” follows an aspiring filmmaker back to his Scottish hometown, where he intends to make a documentary about eggs, only to get sucked into making a film about the horrific crime case that transformed his hometown from a former tourist destination into a desolate ghost town. In “Black Mirror” tradition, the ensemble is a healthy mix of familiar faces,...

Loch Henry is the second episode of season 6 of the popular series Black Mirror. Starring Samuel Blenkin and Myha’la Herrold, written Charlie Brooker and directed by Sam Miller, this episode blends traditional British storytelling with the new Netflix style that emerged after the streaming giant acquired the rights to the series.
Black Mirror: Loch Henry
The plot follows a couple who embark on a true crime documentary about local events, including murders, kidnappings, and a suicide. The story revolves around the discovery of what was found in the basement of a farmhouse, and although it is not heavily focused on technology, it does have elements of classic horror.
“Loch Henry” is an excellent episode that breaks away from the series’ tendency to parody technology. Instead, it presents a true crime documentary that reveals the dark secrets that were hidden in the basement and the crimes that occurred there. The...

Just when you thought it was safe to be on your phone again, the near-future sci-fi anthology series "Black Mirror" is returning to Netflix for season 6, with a star-studded cast and plenty more portents of doom.
Actually, though, this upcoming collection of stories won't just be another iteration of "what if phones, but too much." Creator Charlie Brooker told The Sunday Times that he's become "a bit bored" with the typical formula for the series. "I didn't want to be just hitting the same premises over and over again. Like, 'What if this app ruined your life?'" Brooker elaborated. "Or, 'Oh look! It turns out you're in virtual reality.' So there was a slight reset."

“That’s Salma Hayek?” Murphy says in the Season 6 trailer teasing the episode, which also stars Ben Barnes, Himesh Patel, Michael Cera, Rob Delaney and Salma Hayek Pinault.

Black Mirror season six finally has a date.
The long-awaited return of Charlie Brooker’s Netflix anthology series is June 15, the series announced along with episode descriptions and the full official trailer on Wednesday.
The season is confirmed to be five episodes, which is two more installments than the last season that released back in summer of 2019.
In the official announcement about the Emmy-winning series’ return, Brooker said he “stretched the parameters” of what to expect from a Black Mirror episode for the forthcoming season. “I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that are entirely distinct from one another, and keep surprising people (and myself) or else what’s the point? It should be a series that can’t be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself. So partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this...

The Emmy-winning show’s creator, writer and executive director, Charlie Brooker, claims to have even surprised himself with the sixth season, saying that “I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that are entirely distinct from one another, and keep surprising people — and myself — or else what’s the point? It should be a series that can’t be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself.”
Netflix dropped the upcoming season’s 1.5-minute-long teaser on Wednesday, with a cautionary notice that “You’ve been wondering. You’ve been waiting. You’ve been warned.”

Series creator, writer, and executive producer Charlie Brooker promises season six of Netflix’s Black Mirror will pull off twists and turns that no one will see coming. “Partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect,” explained Brooker in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum.
Brooker added: “The stories are all still tonally Black Mirror through-and-through — but with some crazy swings and more variety than ever before.”
Netflix just released the first teaser trailer, poster, and photos from the sixth season of the critically acclaimed anthology series, which is targeting a June 2023 premiere.
In addition, the streaming service released the cast list – but not episode descriptions.
