Iron Maiden legend Bruce Dickinson has never shied from calling out undesirable fan behavior during concerts.
In the latest such instance, Dickinson blasted a group of fans for smoking cigarettes and vaping during one of his solo concerts in Brazil on Saturday (April 27th). Apparently the smoke and fumes were enough to irritate Bruce’s throat and affect other members of his band and touring party.

“I can’t fucking breathe,” Dickinson said at one point during the gig via fan footage (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). “[Bassist] Tanya [O’Callaghan] can’t breathe. You with the fucking vape over there, yeah, it’s not you, but, you know, please, fucking do that outside, all right? You know, if you can’t stay for five minutes without having a fucking addiction…”
Dickinson also insisted that “some fucker” was “using pepper spray,” though the concert’s promoter later revealed that...

Legendary Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson announced two last-minute shows at the famed Whisky a Go Go for Friday (April 12th) and Saturday (April 13th). Even more surprising, he showed up at the box office on Friday morning to sell the tickets himself.
“As we were holed up in our North Hollywood Rehearsal Studio preparing for the tour, we thought that since rehearsals were going so well maybe we should have a little fun and do something last-minute here in LA,” stated Dickinson.

As the seemingly age-old debate about concert ticket prices rages on, Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson has now offered up his two cents on the matter, as well as on other facets of the music industry.
Dickinson shared his opinions in a new interview with Mexico’s ATMósferas Magazine, and he didn’t hold back when asked about the potential negative impact of gauged ticket prices. Dickinson cited one particularly high profile live series — U2’s residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas — as the extreme example.
“If you wanna go and see the U2 show, I think it was 1,200 dollars per seat in the sphere,” said Dickinson [as transcribed by Blabbermouth]. “I’ve got no interest in paying 1,200 dollars to go and see U2 in the sphere — none. A hundred bucks, maybe. But for me, what’s important is to try and keep, on the one hand, the right type of tickets at the right price.

Pet Shop Boys covered David Bowie’s “All The Young Dudes” for the BBC Radio 2—with a little help from the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Vocalist Neil Tennant and keyboardist Chris Lowe performed the rock anthem at Maida Vale Studios on February 23rd, along with their new single “Loneliness” and ’80s hit “Left to My Own Devices.” The special set closed out BBC Radio 2’s Piano Month 2024.
Bowie famously wrote “All The Young Dudes” for English rock band Mott the Hopple in 1972, and it went on to become the band’s biggest hit and signature song. The Thin White Duke also recorded his own version of the glam rock tune (not released until 1995’s Rarestonebowie), and Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) had a minor hit with a cover off of his debut solo album, 1990’s Tattooed Millionaire.

The idea for “Rain on the Graves” — the latest single from Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson’s upcoming solo album, The Mandrake Project, out March 1 — came to him while visiting the resting place of poet William Wordsworth. He’d been invited to a wedding in England’s Lake District in 2012, and, knowing that Wordsworth wrote a lot of his verses in Grasmere, he decided to visit his stone cottage and the church where his body was interred.

Bruce Dickinson has shared the video for “Rain on the Graves,” the second single from his forthcoming album The Mandrake Project.
The bombastic metal track sees Dickinson employing a half-spoken word/half-song delivery that allows him to essentially narrate the lyrics, as he often has in Iron Maiden.
Dickinson co-penned the music with guitarist Roy Z, and the duo keep the guitars and organs hot in the mix, creating a gothic power-metal atmosphere that’s driven home by regal horror of director Ryan Mackfall’s video. It’s also our first look at Dickinson’s “house band from hell,” aka his solo-band ensemble.
“I had the chorus lyric in my head since I visited Grasmere for a wedding back in 2012,” said Dickinson of “Rain on the Graves,” which was inspired by blues pioneer Robert Johnson. “It wasn’t difficult years later to create the rest of the song with so...

Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden has shared a teaser for the song “Afterglow of Ragnarok,” the lead single from his upcoming solo album, The Mandrake Project (arriving sometime in 2024). He has also added a run of 2024 UK/European tour dates in support of the LP.
The teaser is only 27 seconds long and appears to be a snippet of a chorus refrain, with Dickinson busting out a rare growl for the titular phrase: “Afterglow of Ragnarok!” We can already deduce that the song has a epic metal sound, a la Iron Maiden, with surging guitars and prominent synths.
The full track will be available on December 1st in 7″ vinyl form accompanied by an eight-page “prequel” comic and a B-side featuring Dickinson’s demo for the Iron Maiden track “If Eternity Should Fail” (originally released on 2015’s The Book of Souls). On the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, actor Christopher Walken, 80, made a surprise cameo in the episode’s cold open.
Walken started cast alongside Mikey Day as President Joe Biden, in a skit where Biden decorated the Oval Office for Halloween. In the sketch, Biden greeted the newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson (Michael Longfellow) and his son (Devon Walker).
Walken’s bizarre Halloween character, clad in a black and orange cape, appears as “The spirit of Halloween…The Ghost of All Hallows Past. In South America, they call me ‘Papa Pumpkin’.”
An alternate take on Santa Claus’ chimney route, Walken explains that ‘Papa Pumpkin’ entered the White House through the toilet.
Walken offered holiday advice, “Meet the neighbors you don’t wanna see again on any other day. After all, you can’t spell ‘Halloween’ without, ‘hello’!”

“Tonight we have special news for you: we closed all the exits. You can’t escape,” Claudio Simonetti deadpanned in his Italian accent to the enthusiastic crowd at the Somerville Theatre in Somerville, Massachusetts on October 3. Clad in something like a ringmaster jacket over a Deadpool T-shirt, a smile beamed across the maestro’s face.
The audience erupted into laughter chased by cheers, as they knew they were about to experience something special: the 1985 cult classic Demons on the big screen with a live score performed by Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin, a modern tribute to the prolific Italian prog-rock composers Goblin fronted by the founding keyboardist.

The historic Power Trip festival kicked off on Friday night (October 6th) in Indio, California. The three-day event features six of the biggest hard rock and heavy metal acts in the world, with two bands performing each night.

Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden had the honor of playing the first night, with Maiden taking the stage first at 6:55 p.m., about 10 minutes later than the advertised 6:45 set time.

Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin — founding keyboardist Claudio Simonetti’s modern manifestation of prolific Italian prog-rock composers Goblin — hits the road today to perform a live score to Demons followed by a set of other classic Goblin tracks across North America.
“Normally I play the same films, like Deep Red and Suspiria,” Simonetti tells me. “I have seen Demons with the actors at conventions, and I think that people love this film. It’s a cult film. I said, ‘Why don’t we try to do Demons live?’ It’s the first time. I never did it before. We have had a lot of rehearsals this summer.”
Originally, Simonetti wanted to do a Dawn of the Dead tour in celebration of the film’s 45th anniversary. “It’s one of my favorites, of course, but we are having some troubles with the producer for the rights to play the score live.

“This album has been a very personal journey for me and I am extremely proud of it,” remarked Dickinson in a press release. “Roy Z and I have been planning, writing and recording it for years, and I am very excited for people to finally hear it. I’m even more excited at the prospect of getting out on the road with this amazing band that we have put together, to be able to bring it to life.”

Iron Maiden has been rocking it out hard ever since their ‘The Future Past Tour 2023’ took off to a strong start. But as the tour goes on, the band has set Europe ablaze with power packed performances taking place all the way from Czech Republic to Italy.
Just last week the band concluded their Venice concert, and are now in Spain as they finished their concert in Barcelona, leaving their fans awe struck with metal spirit.
Taking to Instagram, the band thanked their fans at Barcelona and captioned: “Thank you, Barcelona!”
The concert ended on the night of July 18 (local time) complete with much theatricality, and filling out the stadiums the moment they announced their concert, the tickets began selling out faster than hot cakes.

Ghost have unveiled their cover of Iron Maiden’s “Phantom of the Opera” from the upcoming Phantomime covers EP, arriving this Thursday (May 18th).
Papa Emeritus IV and his Nameless Ghouls do a faithful job covering their heavy metal forefathers on “Phantom of the Opera.” The original Maiden track hails from the British legends’ 1980 debut, featuring singer Paul Di’Anno. However, Ghost’s version harnesses the power and might of the 1985 Live After Death version featuring Bruce Dickinson.
Impressively, the guitar tracks are nearly transposed in accuracy, and Papa stays true to the song’s vocal arrangement while adding his signature melodic flourishes to the mix. For a band that has long wore its Nwobhm influences on its sleeve, the cover marks a consummatory moment in Ghost’s career. It also harkens back to Iron Maiden’s Book of Souls tour in 2016 and 2017, when they brought Ghost along as support.

Iron Maiden have taken legal action to block an undergarment company from trademarking the name Maiden Wear, saying the name is “likely to deceive or cause consumer confusion.”
According to Complete Music Update, a Los Angeles resident named Min Yu Chen is attempting to trademark the Maiden Wear brand to sell abdominal corsets, shapewear, bras, lingerie, and panties.
Lawyers for the legendary metal act argue that the band owns the “Iron Maiden” trademark for their own line of merchandise, including apparel such as “t-shirts, tank tops, long sleeve shirts, shorts, jerseys, sweatshirts, sweatpants, pants, jackets, hats, leather wrist bands, scarves and shoes.”
The band’s legal filing with the US Trademark Trial & Appeal Board reads, in part:
“The dominant term in applicant’s Maiden Wear mark is Maiden and therefore the mark is confusingly similar in appearance and connotation to opposer’s Iron Maiden mark. Moreover, the goods set forth...

In 2018, a journalist asked Bruce Dickinson how he felt about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Iron Maiden singer inveighed: “If we’re ever inducted, I will refuse — they won’t bloody be having my corpse in there.”
A year later, Steve Harris — the band’s bassist and only consistent member since Maiden formed in 1975 — offered a more levelheaded take: “It’s very nice if people give you awards or accolades, but we didn’t get into the business for that sort of thing. … With what we do,...

In the past, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest had something of a rivalry, but in recent years the legendary UK metal acts have expressed a mutual respect for one another. Now, Priest frontman Rob Halford is hoping that Maiden follow the footsteps of his band by finally being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Priest were inducted into the Rock Hall last year via the Musical Excellence Award. Maiden are up for induction this year, along with other nominees such as Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, and more.
In a new interview with Metal Hammer, Halford said, “Iron Maiden’s nomination is absolutely overdue. I vote for them every day; you can do it by phone and it’s dead easy. It takes you to the list of nominees, then you pick the bands you are voting for – and I pick Maiden every single day.”

Johnny Cash made a name for himself as a country music star, and traditional gospel hymns were some of the earliest songs he learned. He once said his favorite album was his record of songs from his mother’s hymn book. Yet Cash praised heavy metal bands and included them on the list of music he appreciated. The Man in Black called out would-be music censors stalking the warpath in the 1980s.

Rick Rubin helped revive Cash’s career in the 1990s. The producer reached out to the country music legend with a simple request — play the songs you want to play. Their collaboration led to a series of albums titled after Rubin’s record label, American Recordings.
The first record, American Recordings, included Cash’s cover of punk/metal star Glenn Danzig’s “Thirteen.

“Remember that patience is no sin,” sings Bruce Dickinson a whole three minutes into Senjutsu’s “The Parchment” — and he’s not kidding, since the song, which is one of the album’s standouts, stretches on for another 10 minutes. Luckily, Iron Maiden are typically not ones to waste listeners’ time. In those 13 minutes, the band blends cinematic Lawrence of Arabia strings with military-march guitar riffing, Dickinson bellows an Olivier Award-worthy monologue about his “primal quest for fear,” and the band’s three(!) guitarists each take turns indulging themselves in solos...

When the coronavirus shut down the world down last year, two things gave Bruce Dickinson some peace of mind: Iron Maiden had finished recording their upcoming 17th album, Senjutsu, in 2019, and he could quarantine with “somebody I actually like,” his girlfriend. It all went pretty well for a little bit.

Iron Maiden have shared their new blistering new song “Stratego” from their upcoming LP Senjutsu, the heavy metal legends’ first album in six years.
The song — which appears to be more inspired by warfare than the popular board game — was co-written by guitarist Janick Gers and founding bassist Steve Harris; “Stratego,” which recalls the gallop beat from the group’s earlier work, is one of only two Gers/Harris tracks on the 10-song, 82-minute double LP.

Last week, Bruce Dickinson abruptly postponed the last two dates of his U.K. spoken-word tour because a member of his immediate household had tested positive for Covid-19. So the Iron Maiden frontman returned home to quarantine for 10 days, per government guidelines. For the first few days, he mostly felt bored — until he started feeling like he was getting a cold.
About three days ago, Dickinson, who is double-vaccinated, took a lateral-flow Covid test, and it came back positive. “I thought, ‘Oh well, shit,’ ” he tells Rolling Stone, sounding upbeat over Zoom.

Iron Maiden have unleashed their new video for “The Writing on the Wall,” the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-bound heavy metal act’s first new music in six years.

Dickinson’s wide-ranging, 20-minute presentation — made in collaboration with TEDxMalmö — finds the Iron Maiden vocalist discussing a post-pandemic world where we’re “together” again, his entrepreneurial endeavors, and the impact on technology on society.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame righted a lot of past wrongs yesterday by finally inducting Tina Turner and Carole King separate from their former partners, and bringing in LL Cool J, Kraftwerk, and Todd Rundgren years after they should have, considering those artists’ vast accomplishments. “I never put my ego in it,” LL Cool J told Rolling Stone. “What’s meant for you will come to you. British filmmaker Sacha Gervasi knows his hard rock and metal and where to find the drama within those stories, so perhaps, it’s little surprise he’s teaming up with Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson to co-write a screenplay telling the remarkable story of the concert Dickinson played at the height of The Siege of Sarajevo in 1994. Risking their lives, Dickinson and his band Skunkworks—Dickson quit Iron Maiden in 93 for several years to pursue solo projects— were smuggled into the besieged city by the U.N.

Exclusive: Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson is teaming up with filmmaker Sacha Gervasi (Anvil: The Story of Anvil!) to co-write a narrative screenplay about the now-cult rock concert Dickinson played during the height of the Siege of Sarajevo in 1994.
Risking their lives, Dickinson and his band Skunkworks were smuggled into the besieged city by the Un to play a concert for its beleaguered citizens amidst the chaos of war. The journey was captured in a 2016 documentary Scream for Me Sarajevo.
The Siege Of Sarajevo was the longest siege in modern history lasting 1,425 days and resulting in more than 11,000 killed, including 1,600 children. The city was decimated, infrastructure destroyed, and there was wide spread damage to many cultural institutions, government buildings, hospitals, and schools.
In 2019, the Sarajevo City Council granted Dickinson the title of “Honorary citizen of Sarajevo,” in remembrance of his visit and the band’s performance at the peak of the Bosnian war.

Christopher Walken has had many searingly memorable moments during his career. Who can forget The Deer Hunter’s “One shot” Russian roulette scene? Or the “This watch was your birthright” monologue from Pulp Fiction?
But the one everyone remembers – and wants to recite back to Walken – apparently is the “more cowbell” line from his Saturday Night Live appearance as record producer Bruce Dickinson.
The New York Post reports that Walken is still dealing with the aftermath of his SNL sketch from 2000, a part of the 25th season for the late night comedy show.
The 76-year-old cult film icon apparently feels scarred from a popular “Saturday Night Live” skit he was part of during the 25th season of the late-night NBC show in 2000.
In the sketch, Walken instructs Blue Oyster Cult band member Gene Frenkle — played by Will Ferrell — to use “more cowbell” on the group’s recording of Don’t Fear the Reaper.

A few songs into Iron Maiden’s set at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Saturday night, frontman Bruce Dickinson waged an onstage swordfight with a nine-foot-tall undead creature dressed as a British soldier. As the singer and the monster — a walking incarnation of the band’s trusty mascot, Eddie — dueled, the group’s five other members burned through “The Trooper,” Maiden’s pulse-quickening 1983 ode to the exhilaration and peril of 19th-century warfare. The scene was pure multimedia spectacle, absurd yet undeniably awesome — in other words, Iron Maiden in a nutshell.

When an earthquake decimated parts of Armenia and killing between 25,000 to 50,000 people in 1988, the world was in shock.
