In March 2022, Taylor Hawkins, the drummer for the Foo Fighters, died suddenly in a hotel in Colombia. Hawkins’ death ended the band’s tour and sent his closest friends and biggest fans into deep mourning. The band has not toured since but has appeared at a few tribute events. That’s about to change. The Foo Fighters’ new tour dates are fast approaching, but one question remains. Who will be behind the drum kit? While fans and experts have theories, the band is staying extra quiet.
Foo Fighters fans continue to speculate about the band’s replacement drummer
When the Foo Fighters announced that they’d be moving forward with new shows following Hawkins’ death, fans rejoiced. Since that January announcement, chatter about a replacement drummer has only intensified. Fans have taken to social media to debate the merits of several world-class drummers, but are any of them the replacement?...

Rachel Okine.
Angie Fielder and Polly Staniford’s Aquarius Films has stepped up its feature film and TV drama development slate, collaborating with such creatives as Justine Flynn, Del Kathryn Barton and Huna Amweero, Clementine Ford, Anya Beyersdorf, Roger Monk and Rhys Graham.
The production company gained momentum after hiring former eOne and Hopscotch Features executive Rachel Okine in the newly created role of managing director.
Okine joined in March, just as the pandemic struck. After a pause when, she says, Aquarius’ focus on growth switched to survival mode, the development pace picked up.
The Unusual Suspects, a four-part crime caper for Sbs co-funded by Screen Australia starts pre-production next week. A whodunit set in the Filipino domestic worker community in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, it’s scripted by Jessica Redenbach, Roger Monk (Nowhere Boys) and Vonne Patiag (Halal Gurls).

Guy Pearce and Jeffrey Walker.
Guy Pearce is bemused when asked how he will cope when he makes his feature film directing debut on Poor Boy, a paranormal mystery-drama about a man who inhabits a child’s body.
The actor points to the experience he gained from working in 60 films and TV shows and learning from such legendary directors as Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan, Curtis Hanson and Todd Haynes.
The qualities he most values are being able to communicate – and staying calm and level-headed.
“I have seen people on sets who are fairly hot-headed and it often doesn’t end well,” Pearce told his close mate Jeffrey Walker, who directed him in Jack Irish, in an Australians in Film webinar today.
Written by Matt Cameron and based on his play of the same name, Poor Boy follows a boy who announces to his family on his seventh birthday that he...

Pearl Jam paid tribute to Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell Friday night at Seattle’s Safeco Field, with the band’s second Home Shows stadium gig also serving as an all-star celebration of the city’s grunge scene.
During the main set, Pearl Jam debuted their rendition of the obscure Cornell track “Missing,” from the late singer’s rare 1992 five-song Poncier Ep that culled his work from the Singles soundtrack; when Temple of the Dog reunited briefly in 2016, “Missing” became a surprise addition to the setlist.

The brute power of Chris Cornell‘s four-octave voice belayed an inner strength that battled drugs and depression since his earliest days. The voice that brought the music of Soundgarden and Audioslave to millions was silenced on May 17th, when Cornell was found dead in a Detroit hotel room following a concert.

Chicago – Some of the best documentaries ever made happen to be about music and the creative expression behind it. Whether it be an acknowledged masterpiece like Martin Scorsese’s “The Last Waltz” or Jonathan Demme’s “Stop Making Sense” or the more-recent and smaller films like “Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man” or “Joe Strummer: The Future is Unwritten.” One of the best ever made recently played at the Siskel Film Center and was on PBS about ten days ago before a DVD release last week — Cameron Crowe’s “Pearl Jam Twenty.” See it.
The writer/director of “Jerry Maguire” and the upcoming “We Bought a Zoo” has been following Pearl Jam for the entirety of their existence. He moved to Seattle at just the right time, as the scene there was about to internationally explode with the likes of Nirvana, Soundgarden, and much more. During the 1990s, some critics dismissed alternative rock as a trend, the Seattle sound as a marketing device, and Pearl Jam as a passing fad. Twenty years later Pearl Jam has outlasted its rivals, its critics, and even the hype that helped launch the band in the first place. Pearl Jam–singer Eddie Vedder, bassist Jeff Ament, rhythm guitarist Stone Gossard, lead guitarist Mike McCready and drummer Matt Cameron–are now marking twenty years since the group released its debut album,...

Toronto (Reuters) - Cameron Crowe's documentary "Pearl Jam Twenty" takes viewers on a 20-year behind-the-scenes journey with a band that has reached the top of the rock 'n' roll pantheon while refusing to embrace the spotlight.
"It's more than just a rock documentary," Academy Award winner Crowe said of the film he pieced together from over 1,200 hours of archived footage and recent interviews.
Highs like Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder slow-dancing with Nirvana's Kurt Cobain beneath a stage while Eric Clapton plays "Tears in Heaven" above intersect lows like the suffocation deaths of nine fans at the band's Roskilde, Denmark concert in 2000, throughout the two-hour film.
"I'm still emotionally coming down from parts of it," guitarist Mike McCready said in an interview along with the rest of the band and Crowe following the premier of the documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival (Tiff).

Those of you who came of age during the Grunge-era may find more to the trailer for Pearl Jam Twenty than just a music documentary edited together by Cameron Crowe. In a way, it feels like watching high school and college and grad school and your 20s just float over the crashing guitars of "Given to Fly." There's the "Jeremy" video, there's Eddie Vedder and Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard, and their various stages of hair length. There's the new guy, Matt Cameron, who has been with the band for 11 years. Look: There's Chris Cornell. Goddamn, how'd he get old? Remember the first time you heard "Even Flow," and how you never understood the lyrics: "Sittin' butt naked on a porcupine made of concrete," and how you used to shout made-up lyrics in parking lots. And in between the shots of Pearl Jam on tour, the music videos, and David Lynch,...
