Netflix has officially begun production of The Witcher Season 4 and shared a sneak peek of the cast together from the recent table read. The streaming service has also given the green light to Season 5 of The Witcher, which will film back-to-back with Season 4 and will be the final chapter in Geralt’s story.
Seasons 4 and 5 will adapt the remaining Sapkowski books, Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake, promising an epic and satisfying conclusion to Netflix’s hit fantasy drama.
After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the fourth season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other.
If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire and finding one another again.

Netflix’s Regency drama Bridgerton snuck some news at the end of a Tudum video featurette that had Luke Newton (Colin Brdgerton) and Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton) chatting about their characters while painting each other’s portraits. They were eventually joined by Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington aka Lady Whistledown) who picked up the script for Season 301 — that was conveniently lying around — and read its opening lines.

For Bridgerton, showrunner Chris Van Dusen wanted to bring a fresh, new perspective into the historical fiction genre. The first season, based on Julia Quinn’s first novel The Duke and I, was met with critical acclaim and received 12 Emmy nominations. Season 2 quickly became Netflix’s most watched English-language series, which could make Bridgerton a more daunting competitor in this year’s Emmy race.
The Season 2 premiere episode, “Capital R Rake,” is the latest installment of It Starts on the Page, Deadline’s annual series that highlights the scripts that serve as the creative backbones of the buzzy shows that will define the TV awards season. The scripts in our series are all being submitted for Emmy Awards consideration this year and have been selected by Deadline using criteria that includes critical acclaim, selecting from a wide range of networks and platforms and a mix of established and lesser-known shows.

Exclusive: Amazon Studios has acquired Gator and the Egg, an undercover buddy cop movie that becomes another streamer film made possible by the Covid pandemic. Amazon has set Tricia Brock to direct the script by BenDavid Grabinski. Steven Soderbergh, Stacey Sher, Michael Shamberg and John Henson are producing. This one is being fast-tracked to shoot late summer, sources said.
The film is a buddy movie, a Lethal Weapon-esque pairing for the modern era with a romantic tension at the center. The project originated at USA Network as a pilot that was location scouting when the pandemic hit and USA shut down its scripted projects. After it shook loose, Grabinski refashioned it as a feature film and Amazon saw it as a chance to add a modestly budgeted potential franchise to its slate.

NOS4A2 Season 2 Episode 8
One of the strongest relationships in NOS4A2 has been the father-daughter connection between Chris and Vic McQueen. They fought, certainly, and Chris undoubtedly made a lot of mistakes, but there was no mistaking the bond of love that they shared, and the closeness that they once had. Vic, as seen in the opening moments of “Chris McQueen,” always seemed to be her father’s shadow, chasing after him even when he ran away. Eventually, through the twin forces of time and her own motherhood, she stopped. He kept pushing until she gave up, allowing him to run from his own mistakes in much the same way his father once ran from him. In the end, Larry McQueen died, leaving behind a son who didn’t know him. In the end, Chris McQueen dies, but perhaps leaves behind a daughter who understands him...

The pitch for Quibi is that you can “watch movie-quality shows designed for your phone.” The app allows users to switch seamlessly between the traditional landscape orientation and a mobile-friendly portrait view. This is revolutionary technology, but most of their available comedies and dramas could be mistaken for having been retrofitted for the gimmick. “Dummy” starring and executive produced by Anna Kendick stands out in this way. Instead of cropping the sides and re-centering the widescreen image like in other shows, director Tricia Brock and cinematographer Catherine Goldschmidt properly push the medium forward.
SEEour take on the Best Short Form Comedy/Drama Series race.
The portrait version of “Dummy” compensates for its comparative skinniness with a taller image. The picture extends above and below what the horizontal version depicts (even rotated slightly above), allowing new space to convey information and also allowing more of the horizontal version to appear.

When it comes to the logistical challenges of filming with sex dolls, Cody Heller, writer and creator of the Quibi comedy series “Dummy,” and her cinematographer Catherine Goldschmidt, probably know more about the process than just about anyone outside of the adult film industry.
During WrapWomen’s Awards Series Screening Q&a of “Dummy” presented by Quibi on Wednesday, Heller and Goldschmidt explained the painstaking process of working with multiple real-life sex dolls to make the 10-episode series that tells the story of the relationship between a woman and her boyfriend’s talking sex doll.
The story is based on Heller’s real-life relationship with her now-fiancé, “Rick and Morty” and “Community” creator Dan Harmon. Anna Kendrick stars as Heller while the Harmon character is played by Donal Logue.

"A friendship that makes you feel whole." Quibi has unveiled an official trailer for Dummy, another one of their "Movies in Chapters" offerings on the new streaming app. Originally written as a TV pilot, the project was then developed into a film script, and eventually chopped up into 10 minute segments for Quibi's app. An aspiring writer discovers her boyfriend has a sex doll. But instead of throwing it out, she befriends the doll (named Barbara) and the two take on the world together. Anna Kendrick stars, joined by Meredith Hagner as Barbara, and a cast including Donal Logue, Pedro Lopez, and Adam Shapiro. This doesn't look as bad as it sounds, thankfully, but it doesn't look that good either. Plus everyone is complaining about how bad it is to watch a movie in 10 minute segments on your phone. At least the humor isn't too immature. Here's the first official trailer...

Let’s face it: we’ve all wondered what it would look like to see LeVar Burton get taken up through a pneumatic tube. “Weird City,” an science fiction anthology series arriving on YouTube Premium next month, also casts him as something of a mad scientist, which seems extremely promising. “Sex and the City” fans would love to see Carrie Bradshaw rocking Manolo Blahniks again, but Sarah Jessica Parker has put another nail in the “Satc” coffin.

While there was a report last month that plans for a third film would include the death of Mr. Big, star Chris Noth denied the claim, also insisting the movie isn’t happening.

The Deuce has all the makings of a horror movie this week as Vincent takes a trip, and someone loses a pension.
This The Deuce review contains spoilers.
The Deuce Season 2 Episode 7
Horror experts often say that the first scene of a horror film should be akin to cocking back a gun while the rest of the movie is the bullet’s trajectory. Or at least that’s what I remember M. Night Shyamalan saying in a Sixth Sense DVD extra about the opening scene with Donnie Wahlberg.
Whether anyone has ever actually said this or not, it feels like a solid truism and it’s one that I recalled during the first scene of The Deuce Season 2’s seventh episode, “The Feminism Part.” Make no mistake: this is a horror movie. The Deuce has gotten into the spirit of the October season and crafted an hour...

HBO is sharing all kinds of news today from the TCAs.
Now we're hearing from The Deuce and getting our first word that, yes, James Franco is still a part of the series after being accused of less than savory behavior shortly after he won his Globe Award for his performance in The Disaster Artist.
Chronicling the rise of pornography and the multibillion-dollar industry’s transformation of American culture, the critically acclaimed drama series The Deuce, created by George Pelecanos and David Simon, returns for its nine-episode second season Sunday, Sept. 9 (10/9c), exclusively on HBO.
Resuming five years after the culmination of the first season, The Deuce returns to the world of 1977, capturing the Times Square area of midtown New York at its most garish and volatile.
The series is also available on HBO Now, HBO Go, HBO On Demand and affiliate portals.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: In honor of the #FemaleFilmmakerFriday hashtag that was begun last week, which female TV director deserves recognition the most?
Allison Keene (@KeeneTV), Collider
I try to go with gut reactions on these, and the first person who popped into my mind was Susanne Bier, director of 2016’s “The Night Manager.” One of the reasons I became so obsessed with that miniseries was because of Bier’s direction and the visual world she created. Everything looked like a Vogue spread (which isn’t surprising maybe given its cast), but it wasn’t just about the gilded pleasures of the super global elite. One of the most inspiring...

This fall season, Crystal Dynamics’ Rise of the Tomb Raider will launch as a timed-exclusive across Xbox One and Xbox 360, though there is another project involving Lara Croft quietly lingering in development over at MGM. That is, the long-gestating Tomb Raider reboot that has recently cast the net out in search of a female director.
All has been quiet on the progress of said project ever since, though an alleged director’s shortlist has surfaced online bringing the radio silence to an end. According to reports, MGM and Warner Bros. have narrowed their search down to three potential candidates: Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker/Zero Dark Thirty), Catherine Hardwicke of The Twilight Saga and Mimi Leder (The Leftovers, Deep Impact).

A new report suggests that a trio of acclaimed female filmmakers have made the short list to take the helm of the "Tomb Raider" reboot which is being fast-tracked by Warner Bros., MGM, Gk Films and Eidos Interactive.
The Tracking Board says that Kathryn Bigelow ("Zero Dark Thirty"), Catherine Hardwicke ("Twilight") and Mimi Leder ("The Peacemaker") have made the short list as a replacement for the previously attached Tricia Brock.
Brock is a prolific TV director who has worked on numerous high profile cable shows including "The Walking Dead" and "Girls," however she's officially passed on the project.
Evan Daugherty penned the script which follows archeologist Lara Croft as she travels the globe seeking priceless artifacts. The franchise previously delivered two films with Angelina Jolie in the title role.

Kathryn Bigelow leads the shortlist of potential directors for the new Lara Croft movie.
The big screen reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise is still in development, with Gk Films, Warner Bros, MGM and Eidos Interactive all partnering on the project.
There had been reports that Tricia Brock was set to direct the new film, building on hew small screen work across the likes of Girls and The Walking Dead. But The Tracking Board now says she's passed on the film, and that a new shortlist of directors has been drawn up. Quite a shortlist, too.
Thus far, there are three names on it.
Kathyrn Bigelow is a firm favourite of ours, for her work across Strange Days, Point Break and The Hurt Locker. Then there's the director of the original Twilight film, Catherine Hardwicke. And finally, Mimi Leder, who helmed Deep Impact and The Peacemaker, is also on the list.

Twin Peaks, Season 2, Episode 16, “The Condemned Woman”
Written by Tricia Brock
Directed by Lesli Linka Glatter
Aired February 16th, 1991 on ABC
I have dreamed so much of you

That all I have to do now perhaps is to be a phantom
among phantoms and a ghost, hundred times…
More than the ghost who walks gaily over the sun-dial of

“To beginnings…and endings. And the wisdom to know the difference.” Andrew Packard says this to Josie, pertinent words considering Josie’s unusual fate this episode, but they also apply to several dissolving relationships that occur. First, the romance between Harry and Josie has come to end with her demise, though whether they could have kept going had she survived is equally unclear. Nadine and Mike have fallen in love, so she breaks up with Ed once and for all, which...

The speculation surrounding the currently empty director’s chair of Marvel’s planned Captain Marvel movie continues to focus on Angelina Jolie. According to Collider’s updated story from their sources at Marvel, the appointment of Patty Jenkins as director of Wonder Woman for Warner Bros. has essentially kicked that speculation up a gear, moving the rumor status from the studio being ‘in pursuit of Jolie’ to being ‘in hot pursuit of Jolie.’ It remains to be seen whether the actress-director is either interested in making a comic book adaptation, or has the time – but the rumors highlight an interesting, yet frustrating trend in the current superhero genre.
There is no denying that both DC/Warner Bros. and Marvel/Disney have heeded audience calls for better female representation in their superhero movie franchises. Less than ten years ago, every major superhero release was led by male characters, but now, we...

Twin Peaks, Season 2, Episode 10, “Dispute Between Brothers”
Written by Tricia Brock
Directed by Tina Rathborne
Originally aired December 8, 1990 on ABC
“Harry, I’m really gonna miss this place.”
Dale Cooper belongs in Twin Peaks. This may seem like an obvious statement, but it appears to be a more complicated issue in this episode. As the writers struggled to figure out where to go from here, they realized that Cooper had no real reason to stay in town anymore. About half our time is spent watching him say goodbye to everyone and prepare to head out, only to be interrupted as he finds out that he is being suspended from the FBI and must stay put. Clearly, the writers just needed a reason, any reason, to keep him in Twin Peaks.
Granted, this can be understood as a suggestion that Cooper will be made to stay in Twin Peaks by any means necessary,...

Directed By: Tricia Brock
Original Airdate: 16 February 2014
In This Episode…
We follow four different stories this week, tracking the paths of different prison survivors.
First - and probably the least interesting - is Beth and Daryl. Beth is desperately clinging to the hope of finding Maggie, Judith, and the others alive. Daryl is quiet, and whether or not he has hope, he is trying to focus on survival for him and Beth. But Beth insists on tracking them, so Daryl goes along - after all, what else is he doing? She finds small footprints and is excited - the kids were here, and clearly human. Daryl reminds her that this means they were alive five or six hours ago. But Beth won’t be dissuaded. They find some partially-eaten grapes and Beth tells Daryl to have faith. “Faith didn...

Director: Tricia Brock. Writers: Robert Kirkman. Cast: Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan and Chad L. Coleman. So, how is your ride through the zombie apocalypse going? "The Walking Dead" has returned from its mid-season break with a couple of fair episodes: "After" and "Inmates." The latest episode to air, "Inmates," brought several smaller stories to the little screen. This fractured narrative gave viewers very little time to catch up with their favourite heroes, in this zombie infested land. And, much of that time was spent running from the undead, or crying over who knows what. All that sadness helped slow down this outing and the sombre tone took something away from the enjoyment of Epis. 10. "Inmates" could have used a little more focus and resolve in this latest episode. There were four minor stories shown in this episode. "Inmates" began with Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Beth (Emily Kinney), on the run and in peril.

Directed by Tricia Brock
Written by Matthew Negrete & Channing Powell
Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on AMC
Ever since Scott M. Gimple took over as showrunner, it’s become clear that he and his team of writers have tried, as hard as they can, to put to rest any unfinished storylines and unanswered questions left over from season three. Yes it took some time to clean up after the mess, but to be fair, he did have to continue from where Glen Mazzara left off. This meant killing off busloads of extras who we never got to know – killing of The Governor once and for all– and blowing up an entire prison, forcing our survivors to move elsewhere. “Inmates” served to get things moving ahead even more. By structuring the episode as a series of vignettes, in a non-chronological order, we catch up...

If you didn’t get to see your favorite character last episode, The Walking Dead Season 4 shifts focus to a different set of survivors this week. As promised, we’re back with a brand new batch of photos from Inmates:
“Following the devastating events of the mid-season finale, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the group are still reeling from the loss of their home, family and friends. With the destruction of the prison, the group of survivors is broken apart and sent on divergent paths, unsure of everyone else’s fate. What was a challenging life behind fences and walls grows that much more perilous and precious as they are exposed to new dangers, new enemies and heartbreaking choices. They will have their faith thoroughly tested — a faith that breaks some of them and redeems others.”
