Deeply inhaling the scent of freedom, Vian hits on the first woman he sees. She happens to be Eva Longoria, though, so who can really blame him, and despite the fact that he’s actually fairly creepy in his insistence she let him take her out...

Way back in 2012 we heard about a sequel to the Martin Scorsese boxing drama Raging Bull, but since then, the film hasn't been given permission to associate itself with the iconic film. Instead, it's going by the title The Bronx Bull, with William Forsythe in the lead as Jake Lamotta instead of Robert De Niro. The film is both a sequel and a prequel, following Lamotta in his teenage years and also following some time in his life after his famed boxing career. Unfortuantely, it doesn't look all that great, which isn't surprising coming from Martin Guigui, whose previous work includes National Lampoon's Cattle Call, a real gem. Watch? Here's the trailer for Martin Guigui The Bronx Bull from Exempt Capital Network (via The Film Stage): The Bronx Bull is directed by Martin Guigui, who co-wrote the script with Rustam Branaman. The film is described as a combination prequel...

The gloves are off as MGM, the studio behind the original Raging Bull, starts legal action to halt filming of a sequel
Those sceptical about the wisdom of making a belated sequel to Raging Bull may find some solace in the news that the Hollywood studio behind the original film is also fairly non-plussed. MGM, which owns the rights to Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning 1980 biopic, has filed a suit in a bid to halt production of the independent feature and ensure it never makes it into cinemas, reports Deadline.
The makers of Raging Bull 2 are believed to have secured rights from Jake Lamotta himself – the former boxer remains a fixture on the autograph circuit at the age of 91. The new film would be based on his 1986 book of the same name, not (as previously thought) the 1970 memoir that spawned Raging Bull. However, MGM says Lamotta is legally bound to give...

Follow-up to Martin Scorsese's biopic of boxing champion Jake Lamotta, which began filming this week, promises to take the viewer 'before the rage' and 'after the rage'

If he didn’t find security in being one of our finest filmmakers, Martin Scorsese might almost be annoyed with Raging Bull II. But total confusion about an unneeded, bizarre, William Forsythe-led follow-up to his 1980 masterpiece — a follow-up, it should be said, that neither he nor Robert De Niro will have any involvement or say in — is the extent of his own reaction. That’s one of the few things Scorsese and I have in common. (Supreme talent is… it’s not one of them.)
Now, Variety reports that unknown director Martin Guigui (he’s got the first name!) has a full cast; lo and behold, it’s a decent lineup that, amazingly, is filled with people I’ve actually heard of. The current Hollywood fad of making sequels to movies from the 80's, with follow ups to Midnight Run and Twins already planned, continues with news that a sequel to Martin Scorsese's boxing drama Raging Bull is expected to start production in June. The original starred Robert DeNiro as real life boxer Jake Lamotta, and chronicled how his career in the ring destroyed his life outside it. The sequel is said to be based on the memoir Raging Bull II by Lamotta, Chris Anderson, and Sgaron McGeehee (the original was based on Lamotta's first memoir). The new film will shed light on the events before and after Scorsese's film, chronicling Lamotta's childhood, and also showing the boxer in his later years. William Forsyte, currently seen in T.V. show Boardwalk Empire, has been cast as the older Lamotta. The movie will be directed by Martin Guigui, working from a script by Rustam Branaman.
