Starz has canceled “Dangerous Liaisons” after one season — despite that the historical drama was renewed just last month, Variety has confirmed.
Though executives at Starz had much faith behind the series, sources say the team decided to axe the show due to it not finding its audience. The remaining three episodes in the first season will be released as scheduled.
“Dangerous Liaisons” was given a Season 2 order in November, prior to its Nov. 6 premiere.
Alice Elgert and Nicholas Denton star in the show as the Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont. Based on the famous 18th century novel of the same name by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, the Starz series served as a prequel to the historic tale showing the origin story of the notorious couple.

Camille will not back down when she's so close to getting everything she wants.
On Dangerous Liaisons Season 1 Episode 5, more secrets come to light -- perhaps the most damaging ones yet.
Valmont and Camille come to a head, torn for the first time between morality and manipulation.
Camille is an expert at pivoting and recalculating based on what's thrown at her. She's always there waiting for something, ready to receive information and use it for her needs.
See how her tactics and goals shifted seamlessly throughout the episodes. First blackmailing Jean, then looping in Ondine to bring down Christine, then after Pascal's confrontation, she moved on to her next power move -- securing Jean de Merteuil for herself.
Alice Englert is deft and specific in her performance, ruthless when she needs to be, and allows herself a few brief moments of transcendent rage, collecting herself quickly afterward.
Lucy Cohu was absolutely made for this.

Alice Englert and Nicholas Denton are two rising Australian stars who play the leads in Starz's new Dangerous Liaisons prequel series.
Set in France in the late 18th century on the eve of the Revolution, Dangerous Liaisons takes us back to the youth of the iconic characters from the novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, made famous by Christopher Hampton's play and Stephen Frears's subsequent 1988 film.
This version of Dangerous Liaisons introduces us to Camille and Pascal, young lovers trying to break into the lush, decadent world of the aristocracy by any means necessary.
Alice Englert was recently seen as Nurse Dolly in Netflix's Ratched. Englert plays Camille, the woman at the center of it all.
Nicholas Denton has acted in countless theatre productions, as well as television and film, where he also writes and produces. Denton plays the driven, determined rake, Pascal.

Starz has renewed its “Dangerous Liaisons” series for a second season before the first has premiered.
The series, described as a “prelude” to the novel of the same name by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, will officially debut on Nov. 6 on the Starz linear network, the Starz app, and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms. It will be available on Lionsgate+ across Europe, Latin America, and Japan. Season 2 will begin production in Prague in early 2023.
“‘Dangerous Liaisons’ is addictive, provocative and beautifully rendered,” said Kathryn Busby, president of original programming at Starz. “This prelude to the famed 18th century novel illuminates pre-revolution Paris at its most decadent. We are confident that by the end of season one viewers will be craving more scheming and seduction.”

Starz has ordered a second season of “Dangerous Liaisons,” days ahead of its series premiere on Nov. 6.
Alice Englert (“The Power Of The Dog”) and Nicholas Denton (“Glitch”) play literary lovers-slash-enemies Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont. The series imagines a prelude to Laclos’ 18th-century novel in which the pair meet in Paris and have a passionate affair on the cusp of the French Revolution. The couple must rely on their manipulation of the French nobility and themselves to survive: Camille (Englert) is taken in by the current Marquise (played by Lesley Manville) while Valmont chases after a title that was recently stripped from him.
The series also stars Kosar Ali, Carice van Houten, Hilton Pelser, Fisayo Akinade, Michael McElhatton, Nathanael Saleh, Colette Dalal Tchantcho, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Tom Wlaschiha, and Paloma Faith.
Season 2 is expected to begin shooting in early 2023 in Prague, Czech Republic.

Glue, the highly-anticipated new drama series created and written by BAFTA-winning writer Jack Thorne, comes to E4 on Monday 15th September at 10:00pm.
Set in a small village called Overton, it's about the murder of a boy, and how it affects his friends and the community that they live in.
Yasmine Paige plays Ruth Rosen, a 20 year old provisional police officer from a Romany background. She and her Romany mum are estranged from the travelling community, but that doesn’t stop Ruth. Not much does. Not being a young single mum, or the fact that she lives in the same village as a group of friends who no longer talk to her. She’s made of stronger stuff, or at least she thinks she is. Yasmine (represented by Curtis Brown), starred in the critically-acclaimed Submarine, and was named as a Screen International Star of Tomorrow in 2010.
Charlotte Spencer plays 19 year old Tina Fallon.

Young actresses regularly reinvent their image once they hit a certain amount of fame. Sometimes it.s a visual disasterpiece like Lindsey Lohan.s I Know Who Killed Me, and occasionally it.s pure gold, as was Jodie Foster.s performance in Taxi Driver. There.s no telling what Harmony Korine.s Spring Breakers will do for Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez. Ashley Greene.s upcoming role, however, probably isn.t going to be as extreme as any of those. Entertainment Weekly has the first shot of Greene in director Olly Blackburn.s horror-thriller Random, in which Greene plays Violet, the heavily pierced leader of a violent gang who chooses to terrorize a college student (Haley Bennett) who stays on campus during holiday break. Psychological thriller Kristy. I’m sure you’re already familiar with this project, right? Oliver Blackburn is on board to direct it, Haley Bennett and Ashley Greene are also on board to star in it, and now we hear that Lucas Till is about to join them as well. That’s what I call an interesting cast!
As we previously reported, Blackburn will direct the whole thing from a script written by Anthony Jaswinski, Gary Fielder and Scott Rosenberg.
The movie will center on a girl alone on campus (that girl is Bennet) over the Thanksgiving break when a random encounter with a gang of violent outcasts leads them to target her as their next victim.
The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films are behind Blackburn’s movie, while Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell of Electric City Entertainment are producing along with David Kirschner and Corey Sienega.
Production on Kristy starts soon in New Orleans.

What is Casting Couch? Today it’s proof that if you star in something about sexy young vampires, you will continue to get more work. Warner Bros.’ Lego movie already had names like Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, and Morgan Freeman signed for its voice cast, thus making a stupid-sounding idea suddenly seem promising, but now they’ve really gone and made Lego into a movie that you can start looking forward to. Deadline reports that the film has just added Will Ferrell to its cast as the bad guy, President Business, Liam Neeson as the bad guy’s main henchman, Bad Cop, Parks and Rec’s mustachioed Nick Offerman as a revenge-obsessed pirate, and Community’s cheery-voiced Disney Princess Alison Brie as a member of the protagonist’s team who holds a powerful secret. That may just be the weirdest/most fun cast ever assembled, and it almost makes up for the fact that the...

The Weinstein Company is eyeing Ashley Greene (Twilight) for their upcoming horror flick, Satanic, directed by Oliver Blackburn (Donkey Punch.)
Described as being in the vein of Rosemary's Baby, Satanic "follows a group of college students who are attacked in their dormitory over Thanksgiving break. One girl must lead her friends on a mission of survival and discover the identity of their mysterious attackers." I don't know which Rosemary's Baby they are referring to, but it sure as hell doesn't sound like Roman Polanski's classic. Satanic was initially going by the title Kristy. Filming is expected to take place in New Orleans in November and December.

The Wrap reports that Ashley Greene (Twilight, The Apparition) has joined Hayley Bennett (Joe Dante's recent The Hole) in the film about a crew of college students who don't go home for the holidays and end up paying. As they're attacked over Thanksgiving break, one of the friends takes the lead and attempts to keep everyone safe, while uncovering just who's after them. One would imagine, given the title, some sort of ritual is going down.
Long gestating and previously known as Kristy, Oliver Blackburn (Donkey Punch) is now directing from a script by Anthony Jaswinski (partly responsible for Vanishing On 7th St). Satanic is expected August 30, 2013. ...

Dimension and The Weinstein Company have announced their new horror 'Kristy' from director Oliver Blackburn, who helmed British thriller 'Donkey Punch' back in 2008. 'Kristy' is being described as a 'Rosemary's Baby' type horror flick and is set to star the gorgeous Haley Bennett ('The Hole', 'The Haunting of Molly Hartley'). A few days ago the Weinsteins also announced another due horror release for 2013, namely 'Satanic'. This is also reportedly a feature set to star Miss Bennett (below). So could we have some mixed reports coming in here and 'Satanic' and 'Kristy' are one of the same, or can we expect a double hit of horror from Bennett next year? Anthony Jaswinski, Scott Rosenberg and Gary Fielder have all worked on the script for 'Kristy' and you can check out the ploy details below....

Rising star Haley Bennett has signed on to star in Kirsty.
The twenty-something actress, who made noteworthy impressions in both Marley & Me and The Hole, will take the lead role in the Rosemary’s Baby-esque psychological thriller.
Kirsty centers on a girl (Bennett) who must confront her deepest fears in order to outwit a gang of violent outcasts who terrorise her following a random encounter during Thanksgiving.
Oliver Blackburn (Donkey Punch) is attached to direct from a script penned by Anthony Jaswinski, Scott Rosenberg and Gary Fielder. The film is a co-production between The Weinstein Company, Dimension Films and Electric City Entertainment.
Bennett, who was last seen in Kaboom, is currently shooting a part in Terrence Malick’s untitled project opposite Natalie Portman and Christian Bale.

Before you say no to a project like this, here’s a little warning: Kristy is an upcoming psychological thriller described as a Rosemary’s Baby type of story. Sounds better now?
I’m sure it does, especially when young and sweet Haley Bennett (yes, we all mention that name when we write about Terrence Malick’s Untitled Project) is now officially on board to play the lead!
At this moment we know that Oliver Blackburn will direct the movie from a script originally written by Scott Rosenberg and Gary Fielder with Anthony Jaswinski penning the most recent draft of the whole thing.

Kristy follows a college coed who stays in her dorm during Thanksgiving and is terrorized by four masked assailants on the empty campus — the killers are up against far more than they bargained for.

One Hundred Years of Evil
Directed by Erik Eger & Magnus Oliv
Written by Oliver Blackburn, Erik Eger, Magnus Oliv and Joacim Starander
Sweden, 80 min.
Maximum capital gains have long-inspired television programmers of history television to favour propaganda championing the heroes and successes of their countries war-time achievements. Audiences clearly lost interest in self-congratulatory patriotism and viewers fled to 24 hour news channels that promised more intrigue and exploitation than any history program had to offer. Taking a page from CNN and Fox News, channels that once focused exclusively on World War Two heroics have turned to fear-mongering doomsday predictions, tragedy porn and revisionist history, focusing on increasingly improbable conspiracy theories. Absorbing these influences, One Hundred Years of Evil presents in mockumentary form, an absurdist scenario suggesting that Hitler did not die in the bunker.

The one new piece in the latest exhibition from the photographer and film-maker Larry Clark is a typically ripe collage entitled I Want a Baby Before U Die. An extreme close-up of a woman's pubic hair, beneath which is visible the tattooed name "Larry", competes for our attention with images of guileless teenagers having sex. Elsewhere, newspaper reports of violent adolescent deaths jostle for space with pictures of buttocks caked in a substance one hopes is Nutella.
Oddly, there's also a cinema ticket for Harry Brown, 2009's British vigilante thriller. Its title character, like Clark, is a pensioner preoccupied with teenage delinquents. But, whereas Brown guns down thugs, Clark would be more likely to take them skateboarding and then snap them with their junk hanging out.

Conspiracy theory madness or a monumental mistake followed by a massive cover up? Consider the 'facts':
Berlin 1945. At first glance Us Air Force flight 545D does not reveal anything eye catching. It looks just like any other military cargo plane taking off for the U.S .

At first glance, the UK horror flick The Reeds looks and feels a lot like another recent UK horror flick. Remove the drugs and the sexual problems from Oliver Blackburn's darkly amusing Donkey Punch, and that's what The Reeds feels like. For at least the first half-hour or so. From that point it becomes sort of a '70s-style atmospheric horror tale with just enough juice to get across the finish line. Very little in The Reeds is remarkably new, but there's always room for another well-told campfire tale, provided it's told with a little bit of style. And splatter. We open with three young couples who plan to rent a boat from a local, and spend some time partying ... amongst the reedy shallows of a...
