The third entry in the found footage franchise is available just in time for Halloween and features segments from Nacho Vigalondo, Marcel Sarmiento, Gregg Bishop, Justin Benson, Todd Lincoln, and Aaron Moorhead. Here’s a look at two clips from V/H/S: Viral:
“A police chase after a deranged ice cream truck has captivated the attention of the greater Los Angeles area. Dozens of fame-obsessed teens flock to the streets with their video cameras and camera phones, hell-bent on capturing the next viral video. But there is something far more sinister occurring in the streets of L.A. than a simple police chase. A resounding effect is created onto all those obsessed with capturing salacious footage for no other purpose than to amuse or titillate. Soon the discovery becomes that they themselves are the stars of the next video, one where they face their own death.

Though the books are beloved and bestselling, an adaptation of James Patterson’s Ya Maximum Ride series is currently languishing in development. Columbia Pictures originally snapped up rights to adapt the novels, only to eventually lose them to Universal. However, Universal recently stated that it no longer had immediate plans to adapt Maximum Ride either. So, with the film’s development currently in limbo, Patterson has teamed with Collective Digital Studio to turn the books into a YouTube series.
Patterson and Cds are aiming to fast-track the web series and tap into the same massive audience that made The Hunger Games and Divergent such hits – albeit on a much smaller budget. “Maximum Ride has a massive global fan base and it is very exciting to think about connecting with them online, said Patterson in an official statement. “I’m confident that Cds will help introduce the book series to a completely new audience as well.

I’ll admit, the title V/H/S Viral almost sounds like an off-shoot of the franchise that started in 2012. It really is V/H/S/3. There was some news that broke a few weeks ago that I never did get around to posting. Not sure if it was the beginning of a media blitz but it seems like everything has unfolded in the past few days. I’m kind of glad I sat on it so I could just combine everything in one post.

YouTube prank artists extraordinaire Vitaly Zdorovetskiy (better known online as VitalyzdTV) and Roman Atwood left their respective YouTube multi-channel networks to join Collective Digital Studio (sometimes known better online as Cds) at the the beginning of 2014. Less than four months later, the pair are set to star in their first motion picture. Cds announced on April 10, 2014 it will produce a prank film with the working title Natural Born Pranksters, starring Zdorovetskiy, Atwood, and a third prominent YouTube prankster, Dennis Roady. Atwood is slated to direct the flick that will star the trio doing what they do best (like pretending to sleep with each other’s parents, pretending to have had extra-relationship affairs, and pretending to have an incredible amount of disposable income in front of the ladies), but presumably with more epic premises and bigger budgets. “Having conquered YouTube, the big screen is the next logical step for Vitaly, Atwood and Roady.

It scored 53% rotten on the Tomatometer. /Film says "S-vhs" improves on the original in every way. ThePlaylist declares it a whole lot of fun. S-vhs will continue the fun from the first film, VHS. Premiering at Sundance '13, this sequel again brings several horrifying tales to the big screen. S-vhs will show at Sundance January 19th and the first trailer has been launched for the show. The short teaser mishmashes several short stories together. A child's birthday party is interrupted by some creature, another character drowns, while a man is attacked in his car by a dinosaur-like creature. The clip is short and chaotic. But, horror fans will find something here to entice them to the show, with a wide release for S-vhs sure to be announced soon. Premiere Date: January 19th (Theatrical). Writers: Simon Barrett, John Davies, Jason Eisener, Gareth Evans, Jamie Nash and Timo Tjahjanto. Cast: Adam Wingard, Lawrence Michael Levine, Kelsy Abbott, Hannah Hughes, L.C. Holt, Producers: Simon Barrett, Roxanne Benjamin, Gary Binkow, Kyle David Crosby, Brad Miska, Tom Owen, Adam Wingard,...

Well now. This didn't take long. Fans of this year's horror anthology V/H/S can rejoice, for there's a sequel already taking shape and attracting some considerable talent.
According to THR, The Raid director Gareth Evans and one half of the Blair Witch Project duo, Eduardo Sanchez, have signed up for V/H/S/2. They will each write and direct a segment for the anthology sequel, which will also see slivers from Hobo With a Shotgun director Jason Eisener, Timo Tjahjanto (Macabre) and Sanchez’s producing partner Gregg Hale.
Of course, Adam Wingard and Simon Barrrett will be back as well, the later making his directorial debut in this sequel.
Per THR: The first movie followed a group of students hired to break into a desolate house to find a lost VHS tape, paving the way for the movie to go into a series of found-footage stories directed by up-and-coming genre filmmakers.

Exclusive: Nickelodeon is betting big on Lucas Cruikshank. In a pretty quick turnaround, I’ve learned that the network has picked up comedy pilot Marvin, Marvin toplined by Fred star Cruikshank to series with a whopping 26-episode order. The network is expected to make the announcement at its upfront presentation later today. The series order comes four weeks into the run of Fred: The Show, a live-action, short-form comedy series created by and starring YouTube standout Cruikshank as his signature character Fred Figglehorn. I hear that Nickelodeon is extending that series of 11-minute segments with a new 28-episode order on top of the original 21-episode pickup. Additionally, the network is working on a third Fred movie with Cruikshank following the success of the first two. Marvin, Marvin, created by Jon Ross (10 Things I Hate About You), stars Cruikshank as a alien teen living with a human family, while trying to fit into life on earth.
