New Delhi, Oct 6 (Ians) Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that buying Twitter is to fulfil his dream to build a super app called X.com like China’s WeChat that will be available to all globally.
Replying to Chris Anderson, head of non-profit organisation Ted, Musk tweeted that “Twitter is an accelerant to fulfilling the original X.com vision”.
Anderson had posted late on Wednesday that about a year from now, growing numbers of people will be attracted to Twitter/X.
“It will be far less prone to robo-spam and algorithm-fuelled outrage. Instead, it will offer lots of new functionality,” he said.
Musk, who has offered to buy Twitter again for 44 billion, earlier floated the idea of turning Twitter into the next super app.
During a podcast in May, the world’s richest man said that the US needs a super app.

Mel Gibson Introduced ‘Close’ Friend Shia Labeouf to Traditional Latin Mass Services for ‘Padre Pio’
Shia Labeouf may be emerging from a month of bad press over his involvement with (and exit from) “Don’t Worry Darling,” but the actor is able to take solace in his newfound faith. Labeouf recently starred in “Padre Pio,” a new Abel Ferrara film that sees him portraying the eponymous monk who famously exhibited stigmata throughout his life. Labeouf converted to Catholicism while working on the film (which may have contributed to his recent apologies for his past behavior) and credits his experiences attending traditional Latin Mass services with inspiring him to believe.
Labeouf elaborated about his interest in Latin Mass in a new appearance on the Catholic web series “Bishop Barron Presents,” which is hosted by Bishop Robert Barron, the current bishop of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester. He explained that he was introduced to Latin Mass by his friend Mel Gibson, whose passion for historically accurate Christianity led him...

Shia Labeouf has pushed back on Olivia Wilde’s comments this week about his exit from her film “Don’t Worry Darling,” saying he chose to quit the film and denied being fired, as Wilde stated.
Labeouf on Friday contacted Variety directly after the publication of their cover story with Wilde and shared emails that he allegedly sent to Wilde claiming that he ultimately left the film on August 17, 2020, over a “lack of rehearsal time.”
“You and I both know the reasons for my exit. I quit your film because your actors and I couldn’t find time to rehearse,” he said in part in the email. “Firing me never took place, Olivia. And while I fully understand the attractiveness of pushing that story because of the current social landscape, the social currency that brings. It is not the truth. So I am humbly asking, as a person with an eye toward making things right,...

Shia Labeouf was so inspired by the subject of his latest film project that it spurred the actor to convert to Catholicism.
The scandal-ridden 36-year-old, who was raised Jewish, is set to portray Catholic saint Padre Pio — a 20th Century Franciscan Capuchin friar and mystic alleged to have the ability to communicate with angels and could heal the sick, among other claims — in an eponymous upcoming biopic directed by Abel Ferrara.

Actor Shia Labeouf has opened up about experiencing suicidal thoughts, saying he became “nuclear” after abuse allegations were made against him.
In December 2020, Labeouf’s ex-girlfriend, the musician FKA twigs, sued him for “relentless abuse” including sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress.
Labeouf later denied causing twigs “any injury or loss”, saying that she was not “entitled to any relief or damages whatsoever”.
The trial date for twigs’s case against Labeouf has been set for 17 April 2023.
Filmmaker Olivia Wilde said in a recent interview that she fired Labeouf from her forthcoming film Don’t Worry Darling to make sure co-star Florence Pugh felt “safe”.
“I say this as someone who is such an admirer of [Labeouf’s] work,” she said. “His process was not conducive to the ethos that I demand in my productions.”

Hollywood star Shia Labeouf, who has been engulfed in legal issues over the past few years, confirms he’s now a Catholic and a member of the Roman Catholic Church after studying for his upcoming film ‘Padre Pio’.
In ‘Conversations at the Crossroads’ with Bishop Robert Barron, Labeouf said how his connection to the religion at the lowest point in his life saved him. He says his “life was on fire” prior to familiarising himself with the religion, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“I had a gun on the table. I was outta here,” he opens up about his suicidal thoughts.
“I didn’t want to be alive anymore when all this happened. Shame like I had never experienced before – the kind of shame that you forget how to breathe. You don’t know where to go. You can’t go outside and get like, a taco.”

“My world had crumbled,” said Shia Labeouf of a time in his life not too long ago which involved car crashes, court-ordered rehab, emotional outbursts — including the disruption of Broadway’s Cabaret starring Emma Stone — as well as out-and-out violent episodes and a lawsuit by his Honey Boy co-star FKA Twigs accusing the actor of sexual battery and assault. That case goes to trial in April.
Included in that long list of life lessons was his dismissal from Olivia Wilde’s buzzy Don’t Worry Darling. Wilde spoke about the decision for the first time in an interview this week with Variety.
“I say this as someone who is such an admirer of his work,” she said. “His process was not conducive to the ethos that I demand in my productions. He has a process that, in some ways, seems to require a combative energy, and I don’t personally believe...

Content warning: This story discusses abuse and suicide. Shia Labeouf is getting candid about his spiritual journey. In 90-minute interview with Bishop Robert Barron for his Word on Fire YouTube series, the Transformers alum opened up about how a dark time in his life led him to reexamine his faith. Explaining how he was "never an atheist" and had always considered himself to be an agnostic who "liked to argue," Labeouf recalled turning to religion when he felt like his "life was on fire." "I was walking out of hell. It wasn't like I willingly came in here on a white horse, singing showtunes," he told Barron. "I didn't want to be an actor anymore and my life was a...

Continuing his prolific, run-and-gun style of filmmaking, we reported about a year ago that Abel Ferrara was following his pandemic thriller Zeros and Ones with a biopic of Italian saint Padre Pio. Starring none other than Shia Labeouf in casting that takes on a certain level of perverse meta context considering his recent abuse allegations, the film now looks to be completed and the first images have surfaced.
Ferrara, who explored Pio’s life in a 2015 documentary, Searching for Padre Pio, scripted the film with Maurizio Braucci (Martin Eden) and it will follow Padre Pio’s status as a symbol of hope for the Italian people during the country’s difficult inter-war period and exhibition of stigmata. “For Shia, he began to know Pio just as he was discovering his own Christianity. With this film he took a dip in the dark, he threw himself. He went to live in a monastery for months,...

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” That Abraham Lincoln quote sums up the quiet, thoughtful dignity that actors have tried to portray on film for several generations now. And on screen, the 16th president has done everything from meeting Shirley Temple to fighting vampires. In honor of President’s Day, here are some of the actors who have played Honest Abe over the years.
Joseph Henabery – “The Birth of a Nation” (1915)
The racism in “The Birth of a Nation” aside, D.W. Griffith stages the assassination of Abraham Lincoln as a true national tragedy, and he does so in ravishing display, staging a scene everyone already knows but hadn’t yet visualized on film, using never before seen intercutting and sweeping wide shots as John Wilkes Booth dives from the balcony to provide ravishing tension and action.
