Director: Ajay Devgn. Cast: Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra and Gajraj Singh.
Cinematography: Aseem Bajaj. Music: Ravi Basnur.
Ians Rating: ****
Action is a wide-open genre and term, and when one endeavours to include an emotion-filled tale into the matrix, it sure does have a strong appeal to movie watchers cutting across demographics.
In his newest directorial, the actioner ‘Bholaa’, Ajay Devgn relooks and redefines the ‘Man on a Mission’ exercise with overwhelming fervour, grit and determination. And the best part is that for him, his awe-inspiring task seems
like some kind of an errand he has been made to run.
And so, when Inspector Diana (Tabu in yet another impressive cop role) confiscates a consignment of cocaine, obviously, the euphoria of the entire police force at her thana knows no bounds. But after downing a few drinks their elation is shor-tlived, when during the celebrations itself, senior officer...

Bholaa is an action thriller produced and directed by Ajay Devgn, an adaptation of the 2019 Tamil film ‘Kaithi’. The film is especially made for the audience who crave for hard core actioners. It is also apparent that the writers were more focused on creating action sequences though it had a great plot at hand too! I take this liberty to state that the hero of the film is the action designers for their imaginative choreography.
Plot
Ips Diana Joseph (Tabu) has busted a huge drug consignment and is expecting the worst from the drug lords, who have sprung into action and want the drugs and the officer. As the turn of events had to be, most of the top police officers are spiked during a top officer’s retirement get together. Diana doesn’t drink hence saved. Bollywood A-lister Ajay Devgn returns to the director’s chair with “Bholaa,” in which he also stars alongside Tabu.
This is Devgn’s fourth directorial effort after “U Me Aur Hum” (2008), “Shivaay” (2016) and “Runway 34” (2022). A remake of 2019 Tamil-language hit “Kaithi,” “Bholaa” follows a prisoner who is going to meet his young daughter after being released from jail. However, he gets embroiled in an epic journey that sees him up against a drug cartel and helping the police.
“We are keeping the basic storyline similar, obviously that’s the reason you make a remake, because we like the storyline. We’ve altered a lot of characters, a little bit of the screenplay, and the characteristics of people. The drama has changed in a way, the emotions have changed – somewhere I would say enhanced, more underlined,” Devgn told Variety.
“Bholaa” will release in 3D, Imax and 4Dx versions worldwide. “It’s a big scale film,...

Starring Ajay Devgan, Amitabh Bachchan,Rakul Preet Singh
Directed by Ajay Devgan
There is one thing to be said about Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh’s pink lipstick. They never fade , no matter how high the tension.
Me. Bachchan plays Narayan Vedant, a senior aviation investigator who unleashes a fury of questions on Devgan’s Captain Vikrant Khanna after a flight from Dubai to Kochi gets into serious trouble.
Devgan’s Vikrant of course saves the (may)day.
His conduct raises several issues, all nicely ironed out by the end. But the dramatic tension, while it lasts, is pretty compelling, eliciting the right amount of tension while airborne, and detention on ground level when Bachchan-Devgan courtroom sequences begin.
While applauding Devgan for playing a far-from perfect hero, I must also point out that he has some really talented supporting actors to invigorate the taut screenplay’s impelling thrust forward.

Exclusive: Oscar-winner Geena Davis has been set to lead feature Cowgirl’s Last Ride from fledgling La production firm Resonate Entertainment, formed last year by Susan Cartsonis (What Women Want), Suzanne Farwell (The Intern) and Brent Emery (The Stanford Prison Experiment).
With echoes of her role in 90s classic Thelma And Louise, Glow and Eve star Davis will play Fay, an ailing but still rebellious Texas cowgirl who escapes a Dallas nursing home to live what’s left of her life on her own terms. She makes a perilous journey back to her native East Texas— first by truck, then by horse—while being pursued by her well-meaning adult son Randall (still to be cast), who can’t help but care about his mother despite the dysfunction he experienced as a child, and well into his adult life.

Here’s some movie release news! Rajma Chawal, a quirky father-son and “social media” relationship, directed by Leena Yadav, starring Rishi Kapoor, debutant Anirudh Tanwar and Amyra Dastur is set for August 31st.
Giving more insight into the film Leena said, “The idea behind the film is to illustrate how everything happens over the mobile phone today. People would rather catch up over a chat than have a proper conversation and this affects parent-children relationships. Parents are struggling to cope with technological advancements and Rishi Kapoor portrays the many shades of a father, from funny to intense.”
Anouncing the release date the director tweeted, “Funny, we live in the space age generation yet fail to communicate with people that matter the most? Experience the social journey of a father and son with Rajma Chawal, this 31st August!”

Sometimes the worst thing you do to a good thing is have too much of it. Like having too much of mama’s paneer pakore till you puke. Ajay Devgn has directed, acted and produced Shivaay. The tremendous effort that would have been demanded in pulling that off is not often seen in today’s Hindi cinema. But let’s get straight to the film at hand.
Shivaay has a basic premise that we have seen before, but with a few modernised twists. A father that goes to all lengths, leaps and latitudes to get his daughter back from child traffickers. Now before you think this is an Indian Liam Neeson’s Taken, Shivaay opens with Ajay Devgn collapsing on the ground, three bodies scattered several feet away next to a little doll. Then it moves on to a four-minute block of Ajay freefall mountaineering down the cliff to get payment for helping soldiers.

“Tum mein Shiva jaisa kya hai?” the lady asks Devgan lustfully.
I held my breath wondering what he will show her. Relax. It’s just the tattoos which make our hero so loftily heroic. Just to drive in the hero’s anointed status we have the noisy background score where star-stuck choruses chant in unison about Shiva the Destroyer, blah blah.
Shivaay is so steeped in self-importance so awed by its own intended grandeur it seems forget there is a story to tell. Story, there is to tell. But the plot is propelled forward in stuttering staccato waves of melodrama and action. It’s like Shekhar Kapoor desperately tries to shake hands with Rohit Shetty. But they just can’t seem to find a meeting-ground. Not in this Ajay Devgan-directed lopsided mélange of mayhem and melodrama.

Ajay Devgn has taken on a new avatar. Having acted in socially relevant films like Zakham and The Legend Of Bhagat Singh and directed a film on Alzeihmers (U Me Aur Hum) Devgn has now become the messiah of globally acceptable meaningful movies. His production Parched set in Rajasthan is being shot by no less than Russel Carpenter. It is being made as two separate films in English and Hindi. Initially, queer New York University grad student Ishita Srivastava set out to complete a thesis project in her second year of her master's in cinema studies. After about three months of planning and five months of shooting, however, Srivastava produced much more than a thesis project, and instead what emerged was Desigirls!, a captivating exploration of queer South Asian women's identities and struggles.
Queer South Asian-American women have very different experiences than those of the archetypal "queer American woman," and Srivastava's documentary effectively captures the nuances of identity formation, sexual orientation, and family situations among queer South Asian women.
The documentary, which has been screening everywhere from New Delhi, India to NYC, begins with DJ Ashu, co-founder of Sholay Productions and the "Desilicious" party, who recognized the need for a regular queer Desi event in New York six years ago. Along with the help of co-founder DJ Shafiq, Ashu...
