Mark McGrath himself has confirmed Kid Rock’s long-held claim that he got “more ass than Mark McGrath.” The assertion was made on the title track of Kid Rock’s 2001 album Cocky, and 20-plus years later, the Sugar Ray singer attests that it’s “absolutely” true.
In the lyrics to the song, Kid Rock declared, “Got more money than Matchbox Twenty/ Get more ass than Mark McGrath.” On Monday (January 29th), the music outlet Rock Feed posed the question, “Did Kid Rock actually ‘get more ass than Mark McGrath’?” on X (see below), to which a gentleman by the name of Finn McKentry added, “We need @mark_mcgrath to settle the debate.”
Not too long after, the Sugar Ray frontman chimed in, “I’m going to have to confirm that he absolutely did, and extra points for rhyming ass with McGrath…hope that clears up any confusion.”

Consider the career of one Joseph McGinty Nichol, better known by the nom de plume McG. This is a man whose directorial debut as a feature filmmaker in 2000 was the paradigm-shifting, zeitgeist-grabbing, new millennium bar-setter "Charlie's Angels." Sit with that for a moment. His next film? The extraordinary sequel "Full Throttle." Mind you these were gigs that star and producer Drew Barrymore personally sought out McG for based on the music videos he made for the band Sugar Ray. One of the more significant sliding doors moments in modern American history is the fact that McG was the original frontman for the band that would become Sugar Ray, before humbly realizing his talents lay elsewhere and convincing high school buddy Mark McGrath to take over.

Brian “Brizz” Gillis, the singer who co-founded the Massachusetts boy band Lfo, has died at 47. His former bandmate Brad Fischetti shared the news on Thursday via Instagram, which was later confirmed by Variety.
“I don’t have details and it wouldn’t be my place to share them if I did,” Fischetti shared at the beginning of his heartfelt tribute post. “The first two chapters of the Lfo story lost a main character yesterday… I am really struggling to process this tragic loss.”
“My relationship with Brian was complex,” he continued. “It contained moments of great tribulation but also of great joy. I learned a lot from him about the business of music and how to put together and rock a show. And it’s those positive aspects of our relationship that I will lean on now and forever.”

David Lee Roth returned to the live stage last Thursday (March 23rd) in Las Vegas for a performance of Van Halen’s “Panama” with all-star cover band Royal Machines.

Comprised of such musicians as Billy Morrison, Mark McGrath, Donovan Leitch Jr., Chris Chaney and Josh Freese, Royal Machines were also joined by Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens for this show. The group gave attendees a big surprise when Dlr took the stage donning a bright yellow suit.

Harrison Ford was one of the last major movie stars to avoid doing television, but 2023 has seen him jump onto the small screen in a major way. In addition to starring alongside Helen Mirren in the “Yellowstone” prequel “1923,” he’s also taken on his first sitcom role in “Shrinking.” The therapy comedy gives Ford plenty of opportunities to show off his brand of curmudgeonly humor, but he also plays against type in several heartfelt moments — including a scene where he sings the Sugar Ray song “Every Morning” in the car alongside his co-star Jessica Williams.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Williams opened up about the surreal experience of singing carpool karaoke with Ford — and revealed the actor’s role in planning the scene.
“Oh, it was really fun — Sugar Ray with Harrison in the car,” Williams said. “They asked me for a list of songs and a lot of the...

It’s Super Bowl weekend, so all other pop culture is taking a back seat to the big game. HBO is releasing “The Last of Us” Episode 5 two days early in order to avoid competing with it. With so little competition, the Super Bowl is our top pick for awards contenders to watch on TV this weekend. The halftime show is going to work, work, work, work, work, work.
The contender to watch this weekend: Super Bowl Lvii
The AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs go up against the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Et/3:30 p.m. Pt on Fox. It’s a little bit harder to stream this year’s game than last year’s, which was on Peacock. If you want to watch it without cable, you’ll have to sign up for a live TV streaming plan, like the ones offered by YouTube and Hulu.

On Shrinking Season 1 Episode 4, Harrison Ford sings along to Sugar Ray's "Every Morning."
Everything else could have been terrible, and it would not have mattered.
Harrison Ford singing along to "Every Morning" is a treasure of a TV moment and should be mentioned many times on the year-end lists.
As funny as it is on its own, there's added hilarity if you watch Apple TV+'s Mythic Quest since it also features a character singing "Every Morning." Apple TV+, your willingness to give royalties to Sugar Ray is paying off.
Beyond the Sugar Ray love, Shrinking continues doing well with what it has been doing well.
It gets a lot of mileage out of letting Harrison Ford be funny.
Jimmy continues to be self-centered and proves why rebel therapy is a bad idea.
Jimmy: Where should we start?
Sean: Why do we come all the way here when we can just talk at home?...

Apple TV+’s Shrinking is built around a familiar irony: Jason Segel’s Jimmy is a therapist who, as evidenced in an opening scene that sees him downing pills and booze with hired sex workers while his semi-estranged teenage daughter (Lukita Maxwell’s Alice) sleeps upstairs, could probably use some healing himself.
That his acting-out is an expression of unresolved grief gives the dramedy, created by Segel and Ted Lasso‘s Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, enough heft to draw a few tears, while his fumbling attempts to get his life back on track prove good for some giggles. But over the course of its ten-episode season (nine half-hours of which were sent to critics), Shrinking eventually reveals itself to be what a therapist like Jimmy might pinpoint as a consummate people-pleaser: too eager to be liked to risk being honest, even at the expense of undermining its own sense of purpose.

Vice TV’s “Dark Side of the 90’s” returns with its second season next month, featuring new twisted tales from the era. On Wednesday night, America’s most iconic front door will open once again, welcoming 11 people you’ve heard of before as the newest houseguests of “Celebrity Big Brother.” Series host Julie Chen Moonves will usher in athletes Lamar Odom, Miesha Tate and Mirai Nagasu, reality TV vets Cynthia Bailey, Shanna Moakler and Teddi Mellencamp, and TV and music performers Carson Kressley, Chris Kirkpatrick, Todrick Hall, Todd Bridges and Chris Kattan as they begin the craziest four weeks of their careers.
While the celebrity version of the 20+ year old show is shorter than normal, it will be no less intense. These celebs will have to hit the ground running, strategizing and playing as if every day is a live double eviction episode. And, hopefully, they’ve prepared by looking back at their peers that had success in the show’s first two seasons. Previously on “Celebrity Big Brother” … four years ago...

The job of the modern TV-news anchor may have less to do with TV as information junkies get their fixes and facts from a wider array of media venues.
The days of watching a popular anchor like Dan Rather solely on a broadcast program like venerable “CBS Evening News” are quickly fading. The rise of streaming video has created new opportunities for journalists and the venues they fill with content. With that in mind, Endeavor’s WME talent agency, one of the industry’s largest, is giving new thought to how to serve a wide array of clients that include ABC News’ Robin Roberts, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin.
“The networks have to go with where their viewers are. Their business model depends on how do we find these people, how do we get to them? And it’s going to call for a lot of creative ways,...

At the start of this sixth season of “The Masked Singer,” Fox announced there would be a total of 16 costumes taking the stage throughout the fall. As of this week’s fifth episode, viewers have already been introduced to 14 of them, which means there are still two wildcards left to meet this season. Beach Ball and Jester, where you been hidin’? See high-res photos of these late additions down below.
See ‘The Masked Singer’ reveals for all seasons: Celebrities and costumes through the years
The wildcard concept was first introduced in Season 5 as a way to freshen up the reality TV show and keep things entertaining. Instead of having three groups that season, producers decided to have just two groups, and to add new costumes after people were eliminated. There were four wildcards that year: Bulldog (Nick Cannon), Orca (Mark McGrath), Crab (Bobby Brown) and Yeti (Omarion). Yeti made it the farthest in the competition,...

One of the big twists on the “game-changing” fifth season of Fox’s “The Masked Singer” was the addition of wild cards. As producer Craig Plestis reveals during Gold Derby’s Meet the Experts: Reality TV panel (watch above), “We had the idea since Season 3 about doing wild cards, where we bring people into the game.” He continues on, “Every time our show airs I watch the feeds at night and see what they talk about. A lot of fans say, ‘What if we had a new celebrity that entered the game at the last minute?’ We kept thinking about it, pondering about it, and this was the season to do it.”
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the show was getting flooded with requests from celebs who wanted to take part, and the wild card twist allowed them to join a little bit later than the other contestants. “The fans love it,...

The highly anticipated Season 5 finale of “The Masked Singer” took place on Wednesday night, with Black Swan, Chameleon and Piglet facing off for the Golden Mask trophy. The Chameleon was hoping to become the first rapper to win the Fox reality TV competition, but the hip-hop lizard’s performance of “Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio didn’t pull in enough votes. Chameleon finished in third place and was revealed to be Golden Globe and Grammy nominated rapper, Wiz Khalifa.

The Black Swan was the last woman standing on Wednesday night’s Season 5 finale of “The Masked Singer.” Despite the feathered diva’s best efforts, her performance of “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” by Michael Bolton landed her in second place. The runner-up defeated the Chameleon, who was revealed to be rapper Wiz Khalifa, but was ultimately defeated by the Piglet. When it came time for the Black Swan to reveal herself, Grammy winning singer JoJo emerged from behind the mask.

Wednesday’s episode featured the performances of the remaining “Feisty Five” masked singers — Russian Dolls, Chameleon, Yeti, Black Swan and Piglet — duking it out for the fifth season’s Golden Masked Trophy.
Once each contestant had done another song and dance in front of “Masked Singer” judges Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy, along with guest panelist Rob Riggle, it was time for host Nick Cannon to ask them and the at-home audience to vote for who they wanted to stay in the game.

In just three appearances on “The Masked Singer,” the Yeti has established himself as the one to beat for the season 5 championship. He secured his place in the May 12 quarterfinal with his stand-out performance in Week 8 of “It Takes Two” by Rob Base & DJ Ez Rock. He won over the four judges on May 5 with his rapping skills.
The Yeti is the only one of the four Wild Cards to make it this far in the competition. He first appeared at the end of the Week 6 episode when he nailed with his version of “If It Isn’t Love” by New Edition. The judges put him through over another Wild Card, Orca, who turned out to be Mark McGrath. The Yeti returned in Week 7 and aced his cover of “Lonely” by Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco.
We’ve rewatched all of those performances as well as his video clues packages.

The following week, on May 19, the semi-finals will feature guest panelist Darius Rucker — that’s right, the Hootie and the Blowfish singer will join in on the guessing game. Also in that episode, the show’s mysterious “Cluedle-Doo” will be revealed.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 5 Episode 10 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired May 5 on Fox.
Tyrese Gibson may be one of the most competitive contestants to ever appear on “The Masked Singer.” How committed was he to the show’s guessing game? He frequently threw out incorrect clues, claiming to be 30 years older or hailing from Central America.
“I personally tried to throw as many people off as I could with my backstory,” he said. “I said I was 60 years old, I said I had two grandkids and I was from Costa Rica. And so I was trying to throw a haymaker in there and really throw people off.”

Five competitors remain
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Wednesday’s “The Masked Singer.”)
“The Masked Singer” returned to its classic format on Wednesday after taking a week off from eliminations for its first-ever “Masky Awards” episode last week. That meant at the end of tonight’s episode, one of the remaining “Spicy Six” contestants was cut from the lineup and unmasked.
The returning competitors were Russian Doll(s), Robopine (f.k.a. Porcupine), Yeti, Chameleon, Black Swan and Piglet. Each one performed for judges Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, guest panelist Chrissy Metz and host Nick Cannon, while also giving a few more clues about their identities. In fact, each contestant was technically unmasked, but wore visors to completely cover their faces as they revealed some hints about themselves.
At the end of the hour, it was time for the judges and the at-home audience to...
