Apple TV+‘s Ted Lasso may be a comedy about a football coach and his team, but it’s also a series about believing, and the Season 3 trailer for the fan-favorite is doing just that. The footage above showcases the cast of the show triumphantly returning to the field after its two-time Emmy wins. It’s all shown without any dialogue and is scored to The Rolling Stones’ ” You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” We also see AFC Richmond’s former assistant coach sipping a glass of red wine, looking utterly miserable after going to work for Rupert at West Ham United. Set to officially return Wednesday, March 15, with two new episodes, followed by weekly installments each proceeding Wednesday, Ted Lasso is putting faith back into Ted’s (Jason Sudeikis) mantra in the sweet minute-long promo below. With Frank Turner’s “I Still Believe” appropriately playing in the background,...

You can officially mark you calendars because “Ted Lasso” Season 3 will premiere on Wednesday, March 15 with episodes dropping weekly, Apple TV+ announced Tuesday.
The streamer also unveiled a minute-long teaser that includes the whole crew crafting “Believe” signs for the locker room, culminating with Ted (Jason Sudeikis) and Beard (Brendan Hunt) walking in to find them adorned above the lockers. “Well, if seeing is believing, I believe we’ve been seen,” Ted remarks. The teaser is set to “I Still Believe,” a song by British singer-songwriter Frank Turner.
Per the press release, Season 3 finds AFC Richmond facing ridicule with media predictions putting them in last place in the Premier League after Nate (Nick Mohammed), now dubbed “the wonder kid,” defected at the end of Season 2 to join Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United. In the wake of Nate’s exit, Roy (Brett Goldstein) is now assistant coach alongside Beard.

The Specials frontman Terry Hall was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just a few months before he died, according to bandmate Horace Panter.
Hall died on Sunday (18 December) after a short battle with the disease, aged 63.
On Tuesday (20 December) bassist Horace Panter wrote a lengthy statement on Facebook detailing his version of events.
Panter recalled how the band had been ready to fly out to the US back in September to record a new album, when Hall had emailed to say he was unwell with a stomach bug.
“We had it all planned out,” began the bass player, explaining that Hall already had the “framework for 8 tunes” and that “confidence was high”.
“This was in September. Terry e-mails everyone and says he’s in bed with a stomach bug and can’t do the first week of pre-production sessions. No big deal, we can knock everything back a week. We’re...

Things didn’t exactly get off to a flying start with the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. When the initial trailer was released, fans were not happy at all with how Sega’s lead mascot looked. Especially his ‘human-like’ teeth it seemed. Personally, I wasn’t that bothered but the filmmakers were it seems, as Sonic got a quick makeover in time for its release and everyone was happy. But with all that going on, is the movie actually any good?
Fans of the games will definitely be pleased. Right from the opening scenes we see where Sonic grew up and we see him run. Most importantly, both of these things feel like they have been ripped straight out of the video game.

With sincere condolences to the underpaid animators who spent the last four months in panic mode, Sonic the Hedgehog’s grotesque human teeth have turned out to be the least of his movie’s problems. If it’s any consolation, just remember that someone once spent a torturous amount of time designing the curtains for the Titanic. The point is that “Sonic the Hedgehog” was beyond salvation long before a fan outcry rescued the Sega mascot from the island of Dr. Moreau.
— even oft-derided bombs like “Doom,” “Warcraft” and “Assassin’s Creed” engaged with their source material in a way that spoke to what fans loved about it in the first place. Uwe Boll’s filmography notwithstanding, you might have to go all the way back to 1993’s “Super Mario Bros.” to find such a striking disconnect between the experience of playing something at home and watching it in a theater.

Crypto is a psychological thriller from director Jon Silverberg. Partially shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, the film follows one man's journey into madness, in a remote wilderness lodge. The film stars: Amanda Tapping ("Stargate Sg-1"), Frank C. Turner (Alone in the Dark) and Philip Granger. As well, Crypto was produced by: Mem Ferda (The Devil's Double), James Clapper and Desmond Chen. A production update, for Crypto, is hosted here. The story also focuses on Jake's (Richard Harmon) work as a watchman. Left alone in the wilderness, Jake's past begins to catch up to him. A former drug user, he struggles to cope with his isolation as his photography shows unsettling apparitions. A release date has yet to be announced. Though, co-producer Ferda says of the film: "its simply astonishing the quality of cast we have managed to pulled together. I’m so looking forward to audience reactions to the movie.

There is too much navel-gazing and not enough Spinal Tap-isms, in an uneventful film following the singer on tour and recording his sixth album
“I started smoking again when I was 32. Who fucking does that?” exclaims Frank Turner during another one of his post-hedonism inquests. A few more casually self-aggrandising Spinal Tap-isms would have been welcome in this dreary rockumentary orbiting the libertarian punk-folker in 2014-15 as he grapples with the rigours of touring and recording his sixth album, now on major label Polydor.
Unfortunately he and his bandmates mostly get along fine and the recording of said album passes off smoothly – leaving director Ben Morse with little to get his teeth into. Great play is made of Turner’s struggle to shed himself of past hellraising commitments, but in the absence of much documentary evidence, what remains is too much navel-gazing talking-headage. Only in the snippet about the singer being forced,...

Tolga Karaçelik’s Turkish drama Ivy has won the best feature award at the East End Film Festival (July 1-12) in London.
It marks Karaçelik’s second film, after 2010 feature Tollbooth, and was shot by Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Dop, Gökhan Tiryaki.
Set onboard a hulking cargo ship moored off the coast of Egypt, the film follows a skeleton crew of misfit sailors, forced to stay onboard after their paymasters go bust. But it isn’t long before power structures dissolve, leading to tension, threats of violence, and strange apparitions.
Ivy will receive its UK premiere at London’s Rio Cinema tomorrow (July 11).
It was chosen by a jury comprising Eeff’s 2015 Director-in-Residence Noaz Deshe (White Shadow); writer Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting); director Amma Asante (Belle); artist Viv Albertine; and director Ross Clarke (Dermaphoria).

Obviously, that’s forgetting the fact that they’ve been tested twice now and aced it both times, but I guess we need some sort of drama aside from the case of the week, and because at one point or another, any well-meaning group of outsiders hired to work for the government are held under close scrutiny by said government. Weirdos are weird because they don’t do things the standard operating procedure kind of way; thinking outside the box is great, but you’ve still got to fit inside a box, right?
To wit, Walter and Sylvester take part in an exercise with some Marines, where the oil and water of the Scorpion team and chain of command utterly fails to mix. The Director is unimpressed...

Punk rock may have began in the 1970s, but there was a revival in the 1990s that brought forth many new bands who have become the main influences for today’s artists. It was the heyday of Epitaph Records and Fat Wreck Chords, whose artists brought punk music to a wider audience by seeking originality, while at the same time keeping to the core values of the genre. They added a heavier, yet more melodic sound to the music. These bands gained widespread fame through soundtrack appearances on Tony Hawk video games, appearances on Warped Tour in the early years, and appearances on multiple cheap compilations (Fat Music, Punk-o-Rama, etc.). Bands such as Lagwagon, Rancid, and Strung Out have paved the way for today’s popular artists like the Menzingers, Rise Against, and Frank Turner, amongst many others.
Many of these bands haven’t released a proper full-length studio album since the early-mid 2000s,...

As someone who can be found with earphones stuck into the side of his head on a near constant basis, it is fair to say that I, like many of you, love my music. I firmly believe that one of the biggest thrills a music fan can achieve is the sense of wonderment that comes after you discover or are introduced to an artist that you may have overlooked or, perhaps, had never even heard of.
I am aware that many people that read this post will come from a multitude of different countries, so I am using this as a forum to (hopefully) introduce you, the dear reader, to some acts from my homeland. I will be listing my favourite song by each artist, while also supplying a video to give you an idea of their style.

Since the release of his last album, Frank Turner has gone from a skinny half-arsed English country singer to a skinny half-arsed English country singer who has sold out Wembley and performed at the Olympic Opening Ceremony. You wouldn’t be able to tell this instantly from Tape Deck Heart. His songs are still charmingly down to earth; playing in front of a packed Olympic Stadium hasn’t elevated his ego even remotely, and in fact this album largely lacks the self-confident bravado of his previous four releases. However, there is evidence to suggest that Frank has matured somewhat as an artist since England Keep My Bones, and this makes Tape Deck Heart arguably his strongest record yet.
Aside from possibly Sleep is for the Week, Turner’s albums have always been a little bit scattershot, veering from punk-folk ballads to angry protest songs to wry comments about his lifestyle,...

If the outpouring of praise for the late British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher seemed to ignore her complicated political history, allow Morrissey to offer a counterweight. In an essay posted on The Daily Beast, the English singer rips into Thatcher's legacy, lambasting her as "a terror without an atom of humanity."
Morrissey has long expressed his distaste for the politician known as the Iron Lady, most notably in the song "Margaret on the Guillotine" off his solo debut, "Viva Hate."
His letter on Thatcher's passing is unabashedly brutal:
Every move she made was charged by negativity; she destroyed the British manufacturing industry, she hated the miners, she hated the arts, she hated the Irish Freedom Fighters and allowed them to die, she hated the English poor and did nothing at all to help them, she hated Greenpeace and environmental protectionists, she was the only European political leader who opposed a ban on the Ivory Trade,...

So the Reading and Leeds line ups have been announced with tickets now officially on sale. If you’re one of those people who keenly follows the festivals and waits for that big announcement come ticket day then you already know the line up and manically bashed your bank details into an online ticket site whilst screaming ‘take all my money.’ Then again you might be one of those who saw it, grumbled about how it isn’t as good as –insert preferred year here– and then went about your business.
If you aren’t either of those people, and aren’t aware of the finally announced line up (though there’ll be plenty more announcements to come), then here, let me tell you and take credit for giving you the news – unless your Facebook wasn’t awash with people slagging it off or doing the type equivalent of squealing with glee,...

Frank Turner is set to release a new album—according to him, a “break-up record” titled Tape Deck Heart—on April 22. The album will follow up 2011’s England Keep My Bones. According to NME, it was produced by Rich Costey, whose massive discography includes work with Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Jane’s Addiction, Weezer and Bloc Party. “I’m an enormous Weezer fan,” Turner told NME. “There’s a fair amount of Weezer influence on this record.” In a fan message, Turner said: “So, friends, the time is finally upon us! My new record is called ‘Tape Deck Heart’. There will...

Soviet sleeper agents? Hidden nuclear bombs? These are cold war myths, right?
Sam and Callen thought both were things of legend until they uncovered the secret left by former CIA agent, Frank Turner. He killed himself to protect the secret and trusted the investigation to Sam.
"Out of the Past, Part I" started out as one of the most bizarre NCIS: Los Angeles episodes ever. From the preview, I thought we were going to learn about Sam's home life, but that will have to wait for another day.
Sam showed up to find Turner hanging from the ceiling from an apparent suicide. And that's when the mystery started to get weird. Why was the power turned off and the door busted open? And why did Turner have a poodle?
The investigation led the team to Megan Hendley, a flight attendant that was really a CIA agent and Turner's lover. She...

Musical legend Paul McCartney once famously sang that all you need is love - and judging by the small amount of money he took in exchange for performing at the recent opening ceremony, he must really love the Olympics.
When the iconic former Beatle appeared in Danny Boyle's 4-hour opening extravaganza, he set aside his usual sky-high performance price. Instead, according to Britain's NME music site, he received one British pound, or $1.57 in American money.
Why the minuscule monetary arrangement? McCartney agreed to perform his 1968 classic "Hey Jude" and "The End" (the last song ever recorded by The Beatles) essentially for free, but a nominal fee had to be charged to make the Olympics contracts binding. Although they don't generate the same sort of millions in appearance fees that Sir Paul takes in nightly, other opening ceremony bands including Arctic Monkeys, Dizzee Rascal, Underworld, Emeil Sande and Frank Turner...

Emeli Sandé and Mike Oldfield were among the live musical performers at last night's London 2012 Olympics Olympic Opening Ceremony. Punk folk singer Frank Turner was the first musician to take part in Danny Boyle's dazzling production, warming up the crowd before the official ceremony began. After a complex opening sequence representing the industrial revolution, Mike Oldfield played a 20-minute set featuring tracks from his classic album Tubular Bells as part of a segment dedicated to the NHS. Dizzee Rascal then led a tribute to Britain's role in the digital age, which also paid homage to the UK's rich musical history spanning the last 40 years. Emeli Sandé took to the stage to sing an emotional version of 'Abide With Me' during a moment of reflection as the audience remembered loved ones lost, (more)...

Danny Boyle's Olympic soundtrack was baffling at times, but was ultimately an inclusive and unpredictable triumph
Those logging on to iTunes on Friday afternoon to preorder the Olympics opening ceremony soundtrack album weren't offered much help: just eight tracks, no titles, no artists. In fact, the most germane piece of information appeared to be that listeners who'd bought it had also picked up the Cats and Billy Elliot soundtracks. Yikes. But we all had some idea, didn't we? We knew at least we'd get Sir Paul McCartney raising his thumbs aloft to some piece of late Beatles epicry, wouldn't we?
What no one quite expected, though, was that before the ceremony even began we would be treated to an act who would likely have been greeted with widespread "Huh?" by the watching millions. One wonders if Locog had screened the lyrics to folk-punk Frank Turner's song I Still...

This was more than just a gig. This was an event. This was a celebration. Frank Turner is by far one of Britain’s hardest working musicians, and this one off headline show at Wembley Arena, by far the biggest of his career, was thoroughly well deserved. Completely selling out a venue of this size is an incredible feat for any artist, but it is all the more special for Frank Turner as he has had no real media backing and no huge record company behind him (he’s still signed to indie imprint Xtra Mile). This was also a real spectacle for Frank’s fans, with his almost cult following being notoriously loyal, people have travelled from all over the country, the continent and even the world (one attendee is announced to be from Thailand) for this amazing night.
But whilst this night was being headlined by Frank Turner,...

Frank Turner is a singer, songwriter and passionate showman whose sensibilities lie somewhere between punk and folk. He's an Englishman with a Billy Bragg-sort of charm that keeps you fixated on the thoughtfulness of his lyrics, while you get swept away by the power of their delivery. A hardworking musician, Frank has spent years on the road, and is recently known for his 24 shows in 24 hours challenge: made and met. He thrives on the road, and is a must-see live performer.
