Anne Heche’s son, Homer Laffoon, has revealed that his mother’s estate is currently experiencing financial difficulties and is unable to settle its outstanding debts.
Heche died after a car accident in Los Angeles on August 5, 2022. She was declared legally dead by the state of California on August 12. She was kept on life support temporarily to facilitate organ donation preparations and was subsequently removed from life support two days later.
Laffoon, who oversees Heche’s estate, stated that it is currently “not yet in a condition to be closed” due to its inability to repay pending charges.
The late actress’ estate primarily consists of a modest bank account, royalty payments, residual income from previous projects, a corporation in which Heche was the sole shareholder, an LLC membership interest related to a podcast she helped create and tangible personal property items. While some assets have been valued at approximately $110,000, seven...

[Editor’s note: this list was originally published in November 2022. We’re recirculating it to coincide with the release of “The Girls on the Bus.”]
It’s an election year in the United States. So, uh, how you doing, buddy?
Even in a world as spectacularly screwed up as ours [insert long list of alarming, urgent problems we have no practical solutions for, ending with some half-assed joke about the planet being on fire that you’ve definitely heard before!], the American political landscape is especially rocky terrain. In a post-Trump-presidency U.S., democracy is on the ballot and faith in both our electoral system and fellow humans is at an all-time low.
But, you knew that. And as we gear up for a 2020 election repeat showdown between Trump and Biden, it’s difficult not to feel fatigued by the circular nature of our political landscape and the lack of real progress made on a number of major crises boiling over at this very moment. Even international bystanders are probably dreading the death march to Election Day this year, and the sea to shining shit storm it will likely be. So to keep your head above water as we head into election season,...

Since 1994, paying tribute to the artists and filmmakers who died in the past year has become an annual segment at the Oscars. Arguably the most emotional segment of the Night, the In Memoriam section of 2024 kicked off with the remembrance of Alexei Navalny. Other notable names that were honored in the Award ceremony included Matthew Perry, Richard Lewis, Glenda Jackson, Tina Turner, Robbie Robertson, and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
However, like each year, several deceased figures were left out of the montage, which involved many prominent figures, including John Wick Star Lance Reddick, which has caused fans to outburst.

The In Memoriam section of the Academy Awards is always one of the most emotional moments of the show. This year was no exception, as the 96th Oscars celebrate the performers, filmmakers and artisan talents who died in the past year. The In Memoriam segment kicked off with a remembrance of Alexei Navalny, the political prisoner who died Feb. 16 and was profiled in last year’s documentary feature winner “Navalny.”
The names unfurled onscreen was Andrea Boccelli and his son, Matteo, sang “Time to Say Goodbye.”
Every year, the Academy leaves a few beloved names out of the montage, causing anger among some viewers. Though a much longer list is presented on the Oscars.org website, outrage over who makes it onscreen is part of the Oscar-watching tradition.

Alfred Hitchcock’s films have been some of the iconic films that have shaped the genre of suspense thrillers. He is known as the Master of Suspense, and his filmography as a director has been an inspirational one. Films such as To Catch a Thief, Vertigo, North by Northwest, and Psycho have been considered his best films.
Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho is potentially the best suspense horror/thriller film
The latter is his most popular film featuring one of cinema’s most feared antagonists, Norman Bates, played by Anthony Perkins. The Daytime Emmys announced their call for awards entries on Thursday, February 1. But that’s not all. They also revealed a number of changes to this year’s event, including the elimination of the category of Best Younger Performer in a Drama Series, ending a decades-long tradition of honoring the best up-and-coming talent in the medium. Younger performers will now be slotted into lead, supporting or guest categories instead.
National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) president Adam Sharp said in an official statement, “Programming is always changing, and NATAS continues to adapt its competition rules to reflect these shifts in the television landscape. The January 24 episode of Chicago Fire paid tribute to Dale Hay.
It was a dramatic Chicago Fire episode on Wednesday night. Then, right before the credits rolled, the show flashed a title card.
“In memory of Dale Hay,” read the card, which was not accompanied by a photo.
These dedication cards are used at the end of network dramas to pay tribute to someone who has passed away.
Typically, the person in the tribute had a role on the show or behind the scenes.
When it’s not a cast member seen on screen, a dedication card can lead to many fan questions.
Who was Dale Hay, and how was he associated with the Chicago Fire cast?

The episode of Revisited covering Psycho (1998) was Written, Edited, and Narrated by Kier Gomes, Produced by Tyler Nichols and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
In the early 1960s, movies like Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho were considered to be groundbreaking and controversial works of art that were not for the easily spooked. Stories like that, which tackle deep psychological struggles, paranoia, voyeurism, and even murder- were far from the horror genre’s mainstay creature features that were capturing audiences at the time. The movie was based on Robert Bloch’s 1959 novel which was published just in time for Hitchcock to purchase every copy in the United States right off the shelves of book stores in order to preserve the shock value of the story’s iconic twist ending. With Psycho, the gilded status “Classic” is certainly well-earned and maybe even a slight understatement. The movie flawlessly captures the...

If you followed indie film in the 90s, Vince Vaughn was at the center of a legendary tale. As the story goes, in order to get permission to use the theme from Jaws in the film Swingers, Doug Liman screened the film for Steven Spielberg’s approval. Not only did Stevie Boy allow them to use the scary shark tune but the legendary director knew he had to work with whoever was playing Trent Walker. And, he did just that when he cast Vince Vaughn in his Jurassic Park sequel, The Lost World. Spielberg instantly knew that Vince Vaughn was superstar material and he was correctomundo. Over the last nearly 30 years, he has given us some of the best comedic performances mixed in with some bone chilling anti-heroes. But it seems in the past few years Vaughn has slowed down his output to focus on smaller roles in more meaningful projects.

Ellen DeGeneres used to open every episode of her show by dancing through the crowd, shaking it with complete strangers all in the name of fun. What made her turn from the most beloved talk show host ever to becoming the very epitome of irony? Did anything really change or was it all always there? Let’s dance around this topic and find out: Wtf Happened to…Ellen DeGeneres?

Jonathan Glazer's "Birth" is one of the most beautifully baffling movies of the 21st century. It begins with a seemingly supernatural premise — a 10-year-old boy shows up out of the blue claiming to be the reincarnation of a soon-to-be-remarried woman's deceased husband — and builds to a climax that, depending on who you ask, is either thrillingly wide open to interpretation or catastrophically nonsensical.
Glazer spends the bulk of the film inviting us to believe that young Sean (Cameron Bright) really is the cosmically reincorporated version of an erstwhile Sean who was the love of Nicole Kidman's Anna's life. Most available evidence supports Sean's claim until Anna's best friend, Clara (Anne Heche), privately calls his bluff. She knows the kid is a fraud because Sean was in love with her, and, prior to his death, gifted her a trove of Anna's unopened love letters as proof. If the new Sean was truly dead Sean,...

Anne Heche died in August 2022 following a fiery car accident. The starlet’s crash, which occurred before noon on Aug. 5, 2022, destroyed a home, caused a fire, and left firefighters battling for nearly an hour to free Heche from the wreckage. Heche remained hospitalized following the crash before ultimately succumbing to her injuries. Months after her death, an official toxicology report revealed whether or not Heche was driving under the influence.
Anne Heche’s car accident was not caused by the use of illegal substances
Inhalation and thermal injuries were cited as Heche’s official cause of death. That cause was released to the public in mid-August, less than two weeks after the crash. Despite the release of some information, toxicology reports were still pending. Because of the speed at which Heche was traveling and comments made on her podcast, theories that she was under the influence at the time of the crash circulated the internet.

All Rise's final season has found a successful formula, and I wish the series continued longer.
All Rise Season 3 Episode 13, we brought back Carl Brewer's murder trial and some legendary guest stars, including Dda Thomas Choi (Reggie Lee) and Lola's archrival, Corrine Cuthbert (Anne Heche).
This brought significant courtroom drama for Lola.
Mark and Luke suspected Carl Brewer was guilty of murder when another body was found in All Rise Season 3 Episode 12, and Carl was arrested for four additional murders.
While I was excited to see Dda Choi back to assist Mark, I was disappointed that Luke wasn't helping them. I wanted to see them team up on this case, but since Luke was Carl's defense attorney before, it wasn't ethical.
Since Carl slipped through their fingers before, Mark was even more determined to win this case and not buy into Carl's act that he was a sick,...

Opening with Cress Williams’ preacher, Marshall, washing blood off his hands in a convenience store sets the stage for the mysteries of What Remains, even though the focus of the film is really the relationship between Williams’ preacher and his son (Marcus Gladney Jr.) – both of whom are struggling with the loss of a wife and mother. And the latter who can’t seem to be...

Texas offers vast, open spaces and is beefing up its industry infrastructure to attract production not only across the state but in several pockets that have become hubs for all types of media production. From the central regions in and around Austin and Waco to the western panhandle near Amarillo, the Lone Star State is positioning itself for a production boom, aided by the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive program, recently passed by the state legislature.
“We were able to receive such great funding and have such support from the legislators across the board on both sides of the aisle, from rural areas to the cities,” says Mindy Raymond, communications director for the Texas Media Production Alliance, noting the leap in funding from the previous legislative session ($45 million) to this one ($200 million).

New York based actor, producer, filmmaker and former Capetonian – Stelio Savante – has joined thousands of South Africans in celebrating the South African Supreme Court’s ruling on citizenship. The court summary declared that it was constitutionally invalid for South Africans to lose their citizenship when acquiring those from other nations. The ruling comes after the Democratic Alliance (Da) appealed a high court order that originally dismissed the party’s application that the legislation was inconsistent with the South African constitution. However this new ruling reinstated Sa citizenship for all those who lost it.

Savante – who has 135 international credits to his name – described the elation that he and other South Africans were experiencing – “I gratefully wake to celebrate with the tens of thousands of fellow South Africans who’d unnecessarily and inadvertently been deprived of their citizenship courtesy of a flawed and contradictory law that violated international human rights.

A teenage son wants to follow his a legendary storm-tracker dad’s footsteps – with the late lamented Anne Heche sparky in one of her final roles
Every generation needs its own VFX-heavy action thriller about storm-chasing meteorology nerds and there hasn’t really been one since Twister in 1996. A supercell, by the way, is a mega-huge tornado-thunderstorm weather event that the Brody family – dad Bill (Richard Gunn), his wife Quinn and Bill’s brother Roy (Skeet Ulrich) – gets frightfully excited about. Bill and Roy chase storms like this all over Texas and Oklahoma in a gas-guzzling truck while Quinn stays home monitoring satellite feeds and screaming into a shortwave radio when she’s not looking after her and Bill’s son William.
Of course, like Icarus but with cowboy boots, Bill gets too close to the killing end of a storm and dies. Quinn is so bereaved that, despite...

With James Mangold’s “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” making its out-of-competition Cannes bow on Thursday, the good people at Lucasfilm are offering up a compensatory prize to everyone suffering from Fomo. To get you ready for the June 30 release of the new film, the previous entries of the Indy canon will soon be available on Disney +.
True heads already know the movies can be viewed on Paramount+ but, no diss to our friends at that fine institution (especially everyone involved with “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”), it’s fair to say that Disney+ has a bigger market share.
The big day is May 31. Home viewers will be able to watch Harrison Ford in the O.G. “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” (which is now called “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark”), the 1981 masterpiece with the single greatest action sequence in all of cinema.

Kiss frontman Gene Simmons and Gary Hamilton, chairman of Arclight Films, have launched Simmons/Hamilton Prods. to develop, finance and produce feature films.
The standalone banner will produce 25 movies over an initial five-year period, with a focus on action, thriller and genre titles with global franchise potential.
The company is backed by a multi-billion dollar fund manager that is providing slate financing through a revolving finance facility. Arclight Films’ CFO Brian Beckmann was responsible for closing the slate funding deal. All films created under the new company — which was first discussed five years ago, and recently firmed up — will be produced by Simmons and Hamilton, both of whom are in Cannes for the festival. The focus is to build a feature film production company, targeting original theatrical product that can be developed into franchise properties.
The collaboration will merge Arclight Films’ expertise in the independent production, finance and sales space...
