This film has been (quite fairly) compared to "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance". A woman living on a rural island tries desperately to escape the terrible conditions in which she must live, but is thwarted by the awful people whom share the village. tragedy strikes and she just isn't going to take it anymore. It's a great story for showing how a person will endure great suffering only for so long.

Super interesting plot, albeit a bit odd and inconsistent. I didn't get a chance to see it in 3D, but it's easy to tell which scenes were intended for the 3D effect. Personally, I feel that the 3D aspect is just a gimmick, and does not contribute to the story at all (that goes for most 3D films, not just Shock Labyrinth)

Not necessarily Asian "horror", really more "thriller". I had watched the anime version before and loved the concept. The live action movie isn't necessarily bad, but it does sort of come across as a little bit "cheesy". Regardless, this first installment was fun to watch and is a great adaptation from the original manga/anime.
