Tony Lo Bianco, who played the key role of Sal Boca in Best Picture Oscar winner The French Connection and appeared in more than 100 films and TV shows during a 60-year screen career, died Tuesday of prostate cancer at his home in Maryland. He was 87.
A rep confirmed his death to Fox News today.
Lo Bianco got his start guesting on 1960s TV series including The Doctors, Get Smart! and N.Y.P.D. before landing a big-screen star turn in 1970’s The Honeymoon Killers. That led to his signature role as Salvatore “Sal” Buco in William Friedkin’s seminal New York crime drama The French Connection the following year. His character is at the center of a drug deal followed by NYPD Detective Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle (Gene Hackman). The film won five Oscars including Best Picture and Lead Actor for Hackman.

This fall, Law & Order: Svu returns for its 26th season and Ice-t will be back as Odafin “Fin” Tutuola. Also joining him is Mariska Hargitay as Oliva Benson. While Hargitay has been around for all 26 seasons, Ice-t joined in season 2, so this will mark his 25th on the show. He also has a prediction about the police procedural.
Here is what Ice-t said about Law & Order: Svu and its future on TV.
Ice-t Predicts Law & Order Svu’s Future
Ice-t has been part of the Law & Order franchise for 25 years now. This means the 66-year-old actor/rapper has been part of the franchise since he was 41 and has spent a quarter of a century playing Fin. He isn’t ready to stop playing the character yet, either.
[Late Night With Stephen Colbert | YouTube]Ice-t is excited about Law & Order: Svu Season 26 and he feels the show could last until Season 30 — if not longer.

Over its many years of airing, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has welcomed notable guest stars ranging from Robin Williams to Sarah Paulson. However, one performance still stands out in fans’ minds above all: a young, pre-Modern Family Sarah Hyland.
The actress has actually appeared on the show twice, the first time in 2001 for the season three premiere, “Repression,” and then during season 10 in episode 12, “Hothouse.” It is a true testament to her talent that her latter appearance aired back in 2009 and is still being praised despite the series now going into its 26th season.
The episode is about the death of a teenage mathematics prodigy named Elsa whose body is found in the Hudson River. While the team originally thought the murder was tied to sex trafficking, it ended up being a case that actually exposed the toxic and deeply unsettling methods students use to achieve academic success at an academy.

It might seem like a no-brainer that Law & Order impresario Dick Wolf should extend his murder–centric franchise into the documentary space — or that Netflix, with its many true crime features and miniseries, attempt the same thing in episodic format — but neither really came to fruition until the March premiere of Homicide: New York. Naturally, the long wait carried a fair amount of pressure with it.
“Everyone understood the potential pitfalls of stepping into the true crime space and the tropes that come with it,” says Dan Cutforth, Homicide executive producer and one half of Alfred Street Industries. “We’ve all seen that done… not well. So, it was really important that it be executed on a very high level with this series.”

FBI: Most Wanted didn't end on a cliffhanger, but that's okay.
We still can't wait for the Dylan McDermott-led spinoff of FBI to hit our screens again. Sometime in the fall, there will be more stories about America's most notorious federal criminals, exciting chases, and iffy romances between characters.
We've got you covered if you want to know what's up next. Scroll down to learn all about FBI: Most Wanted Season 6.
FBI: Most Wanted has always been my favorite of the three FBI shows. The cases are exciting and high-stakes, and there is a good blend of personal and procedural stories.
The series has hit some bumps in the road, most notably in the casting department.

It’s been more than a decade since the release of Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and even today, gamers are fascinated by exploring its massive open world. Seriously, Todd Howard and his team have managed to craft a game that has defined an entire generation of gamers, leaving a mark in the gaming landscape.
It’s really easy to play through The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and get caught up in the immersive world and lore, which might make you forget about the fantastic voice acting that went into the game. While multiple voice actors have lent their talents to a number of characters, others are limited to a handful or simply one. That being said, there are very famous names attached to Skyrim, including one who even played Diana Prince in the DC’s incredibly popular Wonder Woman series!

In 1960, Kirk Douglas had helped to break the Hollywood Blacklist with "Spartacus" by publicly crediting then-blacklisted writer Dalton Trumbo as the screenwriter. But in 1969, he found himself working with a director who had been anything but helpful to his Hollywood colleagues during the height of McCarthyism. Sadly, this team-up between Douglas and director Elia Kazan also had the unfortunate distinction of being one of the Greek-American filmmaker's most derided films.
"The Arrangement" currently has a 15% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which should tell you pretty much all you need to know about how this ill-fated drama was received upon release. The film is an adaptation of Kazan's own 1967 novel of the same name and follows LA advertising executive Evangelos Topouzoglou/Eddie Anderson (Douglas) as he endures a protracted nervous breakdown (which is what watching this incredible trailer feels like). Critics at the time were merciless with their condemnation of Kazan's film,...

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was released in 2021 to mostly positive reviews, and while the Flag Smashers were a forgettable addition to the MCU, we were left with plenty of other big talking points.
Sam Wilson became Captain America, Bucky finally moved on from his past, U.S. Agent made his presence felt, and Sharon Carter was established as a deadly new villain.
Mackie first played The Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He later returned in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, so how did he feel about returning to television?
"Television is really hard. My first episode of television was Law & Order," Mackie told actor Tyler James Williams about the challenges of his transition in an interview with Variety. "It was the hardest seven days of my career. TV is real, TV is a different beast,...

After what must have been hours of tense schedule deliberations in Hollywood conference rooms, the broadcast networks have unveiled their lineups for the 2024–2025 season. Some shows are gone, some are joining the fray, some are getting new timeslots, and some are moving off the grid entirely, en route to cable or streaming. In some of the biggest shakeups, Thursday nights are no longer the exclusive domain of Law & Order shows on NBC, and ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy is no longer going up against Svu. (Taylor Swift’s cats Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson must be so relieved.) Here’s what changing next season… Law & Order: Organized Crime is moving to Peacock, ending L&o Thursdays Will Hart/NBC NBC’s three-hour Law & Order block on Thursday nights is a thing of the past, now that Law & Order: Organized Crime is leaving NBC for corporate sibling Peacock for its fifth season.

Actors playing multiple roles within the same TV show isn’t uncommon, especially in cases of long-running shows. For example, Justin Theroux appeared in totally unrelated roles in Sex and the City. However, in the case of Lance Reddick, who tragically passed away last year, not two or three, the actor played five characters in the Law & Order franchise.
While most fans are familiar with Reddick’s Dr. Taylor from the Special Victims Unit, apart from this recurring character, the actor played an additional four different characters in the franchise.

Tom Bower, the veteran character actor best known for prominent turns on The Waltons and in Die Hard 2, has died. A family member confirmed the news to Deadline’s sister publication The Hollywood Reporter. He was 86.
Bower never had what one might call a “breakout” part, but he was an actor one recognized from, well, everywhere. His more than 180 screen credits include appearances on The Rockford Files, Lou Grant, Quincy M.E., Miami Vice, Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue, The X-Files, Law & Order and many other TV staples of the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s.
And he kept on working. In the past 15 years, Bower was on Ray Donovan, Bosch, Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, The Office and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He also played the father of Bob Odenkirk’s character on Lucky Hank and had a part in Vince Gilligan’s El Camino, A Breaking Bad Movie.

BMI Celebrates ‘Game of Thrones’ Composer Ramin Djawadi With Icon Honor at Annual Film and TV Awards
“Game of Thrones” composer Ramin Djawadi was honored with the BMI Icon Award at Broadcast Music Inc.’s 40th annual Film, TV and Visual Media Awards Wednesday night in Beverly Hills.
The Emmy-winning, Grammy-nominated composer was acknowledged for his “memorable scores and themes inspiring future generations of composers,” BMI president-ceo Mike O’Neill said in presenting the award.

Blue Bloods fans are still devastated that CBS pulled the plug on the wildly popular primetime drama after almost 15 years.

Law & Order Svu faced some potentially dark days after Chris Meloni left the series. This would’ve required Mariska Hargitay to anchor the show as the lead, which a few weren’t sure would work.
Dick Wolf wasn’t sure ‘Law & Order Svu’ would survive without Chris Meloni Mariska Hargitay | Metropolis/Bauer-Griffin/Gc Images
Law & Order Svu has become one of the longest-running shows consistently on television. Its longevity even surpassed the original Law & Order, which currently has 23 seasons. This is partially because the original series was temporarily canceled in 2010 before being brought back in 2022. It was a feat that even left some of the show’s cast members rattled. Hargitay couldn’t help but be shocked at her show’s legs when she reflected on its enduring success.
“You have to take stock of these 21 years and the origins of it and how it happened and [Wolf’s] vision,” Hargitay once told USA Today.

Law & Order Season 23 introduced a new Da to replace Sam Waterson's Jack McCoy, but will Baxter be written out as quickly as he was written in?
The season finale was a Baxter-centric story about catching a potential assassin while he was running to retain his position as District Attorney.
The ending was meant to be a cliffhanger that made our jaws drop to the floor, as Baxter's political fate was unknown as the credits rolled.
Let's look at what happened at the end of the episode and where things will likely go from here.
Baxter Had To Choose Between His Family And His Career
Technically, the episode was about the search for the person who had shot someone else while trying to kill Baxter during a political rally. Still, it was really about politics vs. family.
Baxter's wife wanted him to drop out of the race for Manhattan Da after the assassination attempt.

The star has appeared in 550 episodes over 25 seasons of the series (more than any other scripted TV actor), but she appeared to take nothing for granted onstage.
“The biggest thing for me to take in right now is that I get to work every day on a show that makes people feel less alone,” she said in a heartfelt speech at the gala held at New York’s Cipriani 25 Broadway. “That’s one of the most devastating effects on sexual assault and domestic violence is the isolation. Perpetrators depend on actual, literal isolation to commit their crimes and to leave victims with the trauma of deep, psychological isolation.”

Whether it’s How I Met Your Mother, Law & Order, or Gilmore Girls, everyone seems to have a comfort show. Like that one snack that always sounds good, it’s a show you know you can count on time and time again. You never really get tired of watching it, and you just feel better after indulging in an episode. But what exactly defines a comfort watch? What does a comfort show even look like in today’s streaming-dominant world?
I can understand why many people immediately associate “comfort watch” exclusively with the likes of Friends and The Office. Sitcoms like this not only provide familiarity, but also simplicity. It’s nice to imagine a world where conflicts miraculously get resolved in 30 minutes or less, there’s hardly any real, lasting consequences, and everyone sits down for a nice dinner together at the end.

Every year, the NBC television network airs new and continuing TV series. Many are cancelled and many are renewed by the season's end. Although everyone understands that Nielsen ratings usually play a big role in TV cancellations and renewals, most fans do not get to participate in that system. Law & Order: Svu's final scene left Bensler fans hanging, but I don't think their conversation put the final nail in the coffin for this pairing.
Benson and Stabler had barely crossed paths all season despite the promising developments at the end of Law & Order: Svu Season 24 Episode 22.
However, the season ended with the two having a phone conversation about Benson lending Eileen Flynn the compass necklace.
Stabler seemed to approve of Benson's decision, saying the woman needed the necklace more than Benson did, and I think that's good news for Bensler shippers.
Here's a rundown of what happened during Law & Order: Svu Season 25 Episode 13 and its meaning.
The Compass Necklace's Meaning Explained
Stabler gave Benson the necklace at the end of Season 24 after a difficult case.
He wanted her to have it to guide her way while he departed for another undercover assignment.

Law & Order very nearly became the longest-running crime drama on television. If it hadn't been for a 10-year hiatus, it would have reached its 24th season a long time ago.
Thanks to that break, sister show Law & Order: Svu has pulled ahead by two seasons.
Still, Law & Order is one of NBC's most iconic shows, from its "dun dun" chime between scenes to its filming on location in New York City. It's high time for a cast and character guide to help you keep track of who you can expect to see (and not see!) during Law & Order Season 24.
Two Characters Are Not Coming Back
Many viewers were shocked when Jack McCoy (Sam Waterson) left Law & Order after over 400 episodes.
Waterson had been with the series since Season 4 and was probably more closely identified with it than any other character.

Law & Order Svu premiered on September 20, 1999.
Since then, we have all gotten to know and love the New York Detectives who work the Special Victims Unit cases.
Those detectives have changed several times as actors have come and gone from the show. Here are the Law & Order: Svu cast members and characters we'll follow during season 26.
Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay)
More than 550 episodes of Law & Order: Svu have been produced leading up to Season 26.
Olivia Benson has appeared in all of them.
Olivia Benson's Most Memorable Moments From 25 Years of Svu
She has been there from the beginning; we have seen her grow and evolve beautifully.
As the years passed, she went from being a detective to the head of the entire department.
The show wouldn't be the same without her.
At this point, Mariska Hargitay is so associated with Captain Benson that it's hard to think of her as any other character.

It'll be a long summer for Law & Order: Organized Crime fans.
The Stabler-centered crime drama's cliffhanger made our jaws drop, and there's behind-the-scenes uncertainty, too.
Law & Order: Organized Crime will be back for Season 5, but on Peacock, and how that will affect things is still a mystery. Still, we know a lot about the new season, so read on!
Organized Crime Is a Different Type of Law & Order Show
Although it was initially billed as a spinoff about Law & Order: Svu's Elliot Stabler coming home, Law & Order: Organized Crime quickly proved to be different from the other shows in the franchise.
Bell, Stabler, and the rest of the team investigate mobs, gangs, and other criminal organizations.
By their nature, these investigations take months to complete -- in real life, they could take years as investigators slowly and painstakingly work their way up the food chain, arresting...

This is one of the lowest prices ever offered on Peacock, and it comes just weeks ahead of an announced price increase by the streamer.
Peacock just put an impossible-to-miss offer on the table. The Comcast-owned streaming service has already built itself up as a good value in the minds of customers with its varied programming options, but this deal takes the cake. For a limited time, new subscribers can sign up for a subscription to Peacock’s ad-supported Premium plan for just $19.99 for an entire year, a $59.99 value. Not only will this lock in the price of a Peacock subscription ahead of the streamer’s previously-announced July price increase, but it will allow you to stream every single event of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, exclusive NFL games, Peacock originals like “Ted” and so much more for 67% off the standard price!

After 25 years, Law & Order: Svu is still going strong.
Despite fan speculation that Olivia Benson would burn out or retire at the end of the season, Law & Order: Svu has been renewed for a landmark 26th season, and Benson will be part of it.
What's next for the show that has aimed to give sexual assault survivors a voice for the past 25 years?
Law & Order: Svu doesn't always follow the same formula that made the original Law & Order successful.
While courtroom scenes are often part of the show, they aren't always present, and the emphasis is more on supporting and empowering survivors.
Law & Order: Svu Review: Solid Police Work and a Tragic Case, But Something Was Missing
Olivia Benson goes the extra mile for these survivors, often giving them pep talks and fighting for their day in court.

Mariska Hargitay, Peter Morgan and Lulu Wang are set to be honored at the inaugural Gotham TV Awards ceremony on June 4.
Hargitay will receive the Anniversary Tribute for her work on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Hargitay has played Captain Olivia Benson in more than 550 episodes. In addition to honoring Hargitay’s career, the Gotham TV Awards will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the NBC drama series.
“The only other character that has been on Law & Order: Svu as long as I have is New York City itself,” Hargitay said. “And what a glorious acting partner, castmate and timeless superstar this city has been. New York has so much to teach about resilience, belief in possibility — and surviving. I’m deeply honored to receive this award from The Gotham, and I dedicate it to the survivors everywhere who continue to inspire my work.”

As of this writing, the "Law & Order" TV empire incorporates 65 seasons of television, providing 1,355 episodes in total. If you're staying in a hotel anywhere in the world, you can probably turn on your TV and flip only three channels in either direction before you'll come upon a "Law & Order" rerun. It is ubiquitous and eternal, and it has become the ultimate "comfort watch" for a populace hungry for, well, law and order.
While "Law & Order" may feature multiple beloved characters who will stay on their respective shows for many years, they tend to rotate out when a given actor wishes to retire. The shows rarely suffer from multiple, frequent cast changes, however, and they're able to keep telling interesting stories without the benefit of a particular character's point of view. Each character might bring a gruff je ne sais quoi to the series, but after airing for decades,...

Many fans might know Ariel Winter primarily from her role as Alex Dunphy in Modern Family. But in 2019, she made the brief jump to Svu in the episode The Darkest Journey Home. The episode saw Winter playing the victim of a crime, who works with the Svu department to catch the perpetrator. Winter described her time with the Svu cast as a life-changing event, as she was able to work on one of her favorite shows. Which was why she was incredibly nervous in the beginning.
“My table read was actually the first time I was anywhere and meeting anybody.

Two more seasons of NCISare coming to Netflix. The first 15 seasons are already available to stream in the US, but Seasons 16 and 17 will officially join them beginning June 30.
The military police procedural, which originally debuted in 2003 as a spin-off of Jag, hails from creators Donald P. Bellisario and Don McGill. Now more than two decades into its run, the one-hour prime-time series is the third longest-running US scripted drama program behind only Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order. NCIS has 467 episodes (and counting), cementing its place in the upper echelon of US TV dramas after the aforementioned Law & Orders and Gunsmoke — the only programs to have made more episodes.
If you’re looking to take a deeper dive into NCIS, here’s everything you need to know about the series — including details on the latest seasons dropping on Netflix.

Law & Order Season 24: Everything We Know So Far About the Latest Season of NBC's Iconic Crime Drama
Thursday nights wouldn't be the same without Law & Order.
The flagship cop/legal drama took a hiatus between 2010 and 2021, but it'll be kicking off NBC's Thursday night marathon of crime dramas again this fall.
That means more cases ripped from the headlines, more of Price butting heads with the new Da, and probably more miraculous last-minute wins in the courtroom.
The flagship series hasn't deviated much from the formula that made Law & Order successful in the 1990s. The cops still investigate a case straight out of recent news, usually a murder, and then turn the defendant over to the Da's office to be prosecuted.
Nowadays, there's more diversity in the police and legal sides of the criminal justice system than when Law & Order first began, and there's less ambiguity in the courtroom.

Law & Order Svu was very good to its stars Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. It not only gave them both the careers they enjoy now, but they were also recognized for some of television’s most coveted accolades. Although they’ve both received Emmy nominations, Hargitay was considered for the prize before Meloni. Which made things a little awkward for Meloni on the Svu set.

Is everyone okay after that tension-filled season finale?
A good chunk of Chicago Pd Season 11 Episode 13 featured Voight facing off with serial killer Matson or hallucinating while alone, and Upton's rescue effort didn't help things.
Let's all take a minute to catch our breaths before we dive into that disturbing season finale!
Matson Vs. Voight Was One of Chicago Pd's Creepiest Stories
One-on-one standoffs with a creepy villain are hit-or-miss propositions. They can be fascinating character studies, psychological thrillers, or annoying and scary for the hell of it.
Voight vs. Matson was among the most disturbing, second only to Law & Order: Svu's William Lewis saga.
Voight and Upton won their battle against Matson partially because Voight knew how to push all of Matson's buttons. He refused to show pain or fear when Matson' tortured him and didn't do what he wanted, either.

Exclusive: Death and Other Details co-creator/executive producer Mike Weiss has joined CBS’ drama series FBI as executive producer and showrunner. Meanwhile, Allen MacDonald has been tapped as executive producer and showrunner of NBC’s Chicago Med. Both Wolf Entertainment/Universal Television dramas are Top 10 broadcast series in Live+7 Nielsen viewership.

Although Law & Order: Special Victims Unit remains the longest-running and most popular spin-off of the franchise, fans of the show have a bone to pick with the creators. From the sheer obscurity of some of the show's recent cases to the flawless character of Olivia Benson, there is always room for growth.

Wildflower Studios, a film studio co-owned by Robert De Niro, has named Cheryl Huggins as executive director ahead of a July 1 opening.
Huggins, who completed earlier executive stints with Quixote Studios and Sunset Studios, will oversee operations at the 11 soundstage, 765,000 square foot studio campus in Astoria, Queens developed by The Deer Hunter and Killers of the Flower Moon star De Niro, his son Raphael De Niro and managing partner Adam Gordon.
The new film studio from De Niro, who has investments in a string of celebrity-driven restaurants, promises “New York City level food” to film and TV productions that shoot on its stages. “It has long puzzled that in one of the greatest food cities, cast and crew were eating at craft tables. We will reset the bar,” Gordon said in a statement.
Gordon added the construction costs for Wildflower Studios was around $1 billion.

There's nothing like a good sitcom after a long day of hard work. No matter how tired or upset you are, there are some shows that can make all your worries go away in just a few episodes, and for that they're considered truly iconic. It just so happens that a good portion of them come from NBC.
So, if you thought NBC was only a home for dark and gritty procedural franchises, check out the list of shows below to remind yourself how many other shows the network has released, Law & Order and One Chicago aside.
Cheers (1982-1993)
The classic bar-centric sitcom that followed a bartender and his friends and co-workers could have been canceled in 1982. The show failed to impress viewers from the start, but later redeemed itself to become one of the most popular and highly rated television shows of all time. Thanks to NBC, it survived to air 11 more seasons.

For Kevin Kane, the endgame never wavered once he set a goal to move to New York in the early aughts to pursue a career in acting. He’ll tell you that luck seemed to always be on his side, as the actor from Philadelphia found work soon after his arrival to the Big Apple.
Kane was soon thrusted into the world of Dick Wolf Entertainment with small roles on Law & Order and Chicago P.D. This would eventually lead to his current recurring role as Detective Terry Bruno on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which aired its season 25 finale on May 16.
But early on, while studying acting at the William Esper Studio, Kane would formulate a lifelong bond and friendship with a fellow classmate named Amy Schumer. Together, they would not only hone their skills in drama and comedy, but also sharpen their writing, producing and whatever it would...
