Hi. Yes. Sorry to bother you. Hello. Do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior, Deborah Vance? The Emmy award-winning series "Hacks" has just finished its phenomenal third season, one that many fans (myself included) were terrified wouldn't be able to match the triumphant heights of season 2. The second season ended in a way that felt complete if Max were to have pulled the plug on the show, but after the absolutely dynamite season 3 finale, "Hacks" has proven itself as a series that can and should continue as long as stars Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder want to keep playing Deborah Vance and Ava Daniels, respectively.
It's exciting as a "Hacks" fan from the very start to see so many people finally catching onto what is arguably the best comedy show on TV that isn't "Abbott Elementary" or the not-really-a-comedy brilliance that is "The Bear," especially...

Pacific Heights has mixed aspects of status culture, domestic and psychological thriller, giving us an intense, melodramatic, and juicy entry into one of the best subgenres. Add to that a surprisingly energetic directing style, alongside Michael Keaton going full psycho, and you get a decent early 90s Thriller. Today on Revisited, we head back to the 90s and dig into Lance Vlcek’s second entry into his Domestic Thriller Trilogy.
The film stars Michael Keaton, Matthew Modine, Melanie Griffith, Mako Mako, and Laurie Metcalf. It has the following synopsis: Unmarried yuppies Patty (Melanie Griffith) and Drake (Matthew Modine) move into an expensive dream home in a high-end neighborhood in San Francisco. As they renovate the house, they look for a tenant for the first floor of their house. Carter Hayes (Michael Keaton) seems like a great fit at first, but it transpires that he is a con artist who plans...

The sixth season finale of The Conners aired last night, and if things had worked out differently, it could have also been the sitcom's series finale. The cast and crew reportedly filmed an alternate closing scene, just in case the show had been cancelled. The series was ultimately renewed for a seventh and final season of just six episodes.
Starring John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and Lecy Goranson, the ABC series is a spin-off of Roseanne, and follows Dan Conner (Goodman) and his extended family as they struggle through life in the fictional town of Lanford, Illinois.

“You killed my son! And, now, I kill you and I can’t think of anything more rational.”
Compared to traditional slasher fare, there are many things that set the Scream franchise apart: multiple survivors, metatextual commentary, Matthew Lillard, the list goes on and on. But one of the most unique aspects of this beloved string of films is the fact that anyone and everyone could be the killer. With no supernatural elements or sub-human weapon-wielders, only a confirmed kill can eliminate a character from the suspect list. Many charismatic villains have donned the ominous Ghostface mask, but none so complex as the one revealed in Scream 2. Running on vengeance, grief, and motherly love, Mrs. Loomis (Laurie Metcalf) manipulates a psychotic young man and picks up the knife herself in an elaborate plan to seek revenge for the death of her son.

The Conners fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the ABC comedy will return for a seventh and final season at the network. The Roseanne spinoff was rumored to be renewed for an abbreviated final run by Deadline, which originally reported that the upcoming season would allow for the wrap-up of ongoing storylines from the current sixth season. Fresh off of its 100th episode, The Conners renewal isn’t altogether shocking as the television family continues to delight. Disney/Justin Stephens Current original stars of Roseanne, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and Lecy Goranson are expected to return for the season, reprising their roles as Dan, Jackie, Darlene, and Becky. Uncertainty around the show’s future was hinted at last spring as it was teased Season 6 might be the series’ last. Thankfully, it will not be. The Conners will get one final run on ABC.
The network has picked up a seventh season of the comedy, which will be its last on the network. It’s also set to be the shortest of any of the show’s seasons, with an episode count likely in the single digits. The shortest previous season of The Conners was its first, which ran 11 episodes; this year’s strikes-shortened edition has 13. The series as a whole will have 106 episodes to its credit after the May 22 season finale.
The Conners premiered in fall 2018, a few months after ABC canceled its highly rated Roseanne revival following racist remarks by star Roseanne Barr. After the show’s producers, including Tom Werner and Sara Gilbert, negotiated Barr’s exit, ABC gave a series order to The Cooners, which follows the other members of the Conner family (Roseanne’s character dies offscreen before the show...

It’s official: The Conners will be getting a proper goodbye. The Roseanne follow-up has been renewed for seventh and final season. As Deadline reported exclusively last week, the order is believed to be for six episodes, with the main cast, including John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert and Lecy Goranson, expected to return. The renewal took longer to finalize because dates for the cast, particularly Goodman, had to be worked out, I hear.
Along with the official renewal, ABC has released the first “farewell season” promo, which leans into The Conners‘ history that spans two shows. With The Conners recently airing its 100th episode, Roseanne becomes a rare comedy franchise to produce two series that have hit that milestone.
“You’ve been part of this family for years,” the promo says, mixing footage from The Conners with a couple of shots from Roseanne. “After 6 seasons, be there to say goodbye.

The ABC sitcom The Conners was renewed on May 2 for Season 7, which the network has announced will be the show's last.
That final season, which will wrap the series up with an abbreviated order of six episodes, will bring to a close a saga that began in 1988.

Spoilers: In addition to Scream 2, this article will have spoilers for every other movie in the franchise.
We all know that one of the big draws of the Scream franchise is Ghostface’s identity. But some are a lot harder to figure out who is behind the mask than others. The big surprise in 1996’s original wasn’t that it was Billy or Stu, it was that it was Billy and Stu. And nobody was surprised when freaky Tarantino film student Mickey turned out to be one of the killers in Scream 2. The same could be said of Debbie Salt – after all, why put a prominent actress like Laurie Metcalf in a seemingly thankless role? But Metcalf thinks her Scream 2 reveal still ranks as the best in the franchise’s history.
Speaking with Collider, Laurie Metcalf stated bluntly, “I think in the Scream movies, my character has the best reveal.

Following his 2015 Emmy win for the final season of “Mad Men,” Jon Hamm took a large step back from TV stardom in order to beef up his film resume with titles such as “Baby Driver,” “Richard Jewell,” and “Top Gun: Maverick.” Now that he has made a splashy return to the small screen by playing new roles on “Fargo” and “The Morning Show” and reprising one on “Good Omens,” his Emmy nominations total could instantly rise from 16 to 19. One of TV’s most iconic families gets a chance to say goodbye.
Deadline reports that The Conners is nearing an official pickup at ABC for Season 7.
The caveat is that it would be the Roseanne follow-up’s final season of around six episodes.
A deal is still being ironed out but is expected to be finalized relatively soon. John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and Lecy Goranson are among the cast members expected to return.
Many final seasons of long-running shows lose cast members due to the ever-increasing costs of making TV.
A consistent performer for ABC since it premiered, the show has much softer ratings than Roseanne – all following Roseanne’s controversial cancellation in 2018.

Close races and sharp elbows are likely when the 2024 Tony Award nominations are announced Tuesday morning. With so many shows opening during the onslaught of the past two weeks, nominators might still be clearing their minds — and maybe taking a moment to eat and breathe — as they ponder and re-ponder the 36 productions that opened on Broadway between April 28, 2023, and April 25, 2024.
Some of the nominations are no-brainers: The much-praised and hugely popular Merrily We Roll Along is a sure bet for all concerned, but what about more polarizing fare? Cabaret, Here Lies Love, Water for Elephants, I’m looking at you.
A selection of categories will be read live on CBS Mornings at 8:30 am Et, and a full livestream of the announcements will follow at 9 a.m. Et on the official Tony Awards YouTube page.

“It is a pretty great crop of plays this year, several that have become big commercial hits,” declares Sam Eckmann about the many dramas and revivals in contention for nominations at the 77th Tony Awards. Sam and I met for the very first time this season to discuss the 15 productions eligible for nominations, reviewing our picks in seven of the 11 play categories. Watch our 2024 Tony Awards slugfest above.
In the top category of Best Play, we overlap on four of our five predicted nominees: “Stereophonic,” “Prayer for the French Republic,” “Mother Play” and “Patriots.” While I tentatively pick the upcoming “Mary Jane” by Amy Herzog for the fifth slot, Sam backs “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding” by Jocelyn Bioh, saying it “got amazing reviews, enough to break in here.” We also discuss a possible surprise nomination for either “The Cottage” or “Grey House.” The other eligible productions are “I Need...

Last year, Frasier Crane returned to TV screens in the "Frasier" revival series. While it struggled to capture the magic of the original series, "Frasier" 2023 certainly had some high points. The festive season finale was one of the better Christmas episodes, and the show handled the passing of Martin Crane actor John Mahoney beautifully. Then there were the guest stars, which included actress Peri Gilpin, who played Frasier's producer on the original sitcom, and Bebe Neuwirth, who played Lilith Sternin on both "Frasier" and "Cheers."
Lilith debuted in the 1986 "Cheers" episode "Second Time Around," becoming a series regular and eventually starting a relationship with Kelsey Grammer's Frasier before the pair got married. By the end of the series they had broken up, and when "Frasier" debuted in 1993 the titular doctor had moved to Seattle while Lilith stayed in Boston with her and her ex-husband's son, Freddy. Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, in our Season 4 premiere, we survey the comedy field.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! It’s time for the premiere edition of Emmy Experts Typing. For Season 4 of our weekly conversation series, the stakes have never been higher and the guest stars are bigger than ever? Ok, not really — at least in the drama categories, hey-o! But we’ll spend the next several months cycling through the top races in comedy, drama and limited series, starting today with the shows that prove music laughter is the best medicine. Or, well, maybe not since “The Bear” is the runaway favorite already here and very well could repeat its 2023 (2024) Emmy wins in 2024 (2024). For what it’s worth, I’ve said yes, chef to “The Bear” in Best Comedy,...
