Rebirth
“Rebirth” is a modern twenty-first century short film, influenced by the silent movies of Charlie Chaplin from the 1920s. The film is about an ordinary man who one day comes across a turning point in his simple life, represented by a "time wormhole". He has two choices - to surmount the "obstacle" he faces or to surrender and just give in to the problem that introduced chaos in his life. Faced with a serious dilemma, the man decides to fight back and as a result he comes out of his shell to discover his inner strength and his sense of freedom he lost in time. He therefore experiences a full emotional and physical transformation that marks the beginning of his new life. Full of metaphors, this film evolves around the idea that being true to yourself, to your values and beliefs, is the key to a happy life. Because there is much more to life than the challenges we face constantly and that’s what makes it so unique. Time and identity are crucial to “Rebirth”, as you discover who you really are only when you experience a certain situation at a certain point of your life. The character lost some of the values he cherished from the time when he was young and the “obstacle” he faced had to bring these qualities back. The character is reborn into this daring man, not afraid of the future and letting go of the reservations he had in the past. Without any dialog, the film required original music, evolving with the transformation of the character. The score of “Rebirth” is full of different sounds, not just the usual for silent films piano, as we wanted to show that a lot and the same time not so much is changed since the 1920s. The film is a directorial debut, realized with no budget, but the enthusiasm, heart and creativity of the production team.
