Overly Sappy & Over-The-Top: Second Half Tanks The Film
9 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I admit, the first half of the movie was enjoyable. There was some real chemistry between Noah & Ally and that scene where Noah hears Ally fighting with her parents about how he was "trash" was heartbreaking. However, the second half of the movie falls flat. It's hard to pull for the lovebirds when their selfishness hurts other people in their lives. Ally's mother's change-of-heart also appeared insincere given her previous reaction to the two being together. The story is told from the perspective of future Noah & Ally, where Noah reads exerpts from a notebook in order to help Ally, who suffers from dementia, remember. I feel this wasn't supposed to be obvious but it clearly was to any engaged viewer.

Azeem Becomes His Father - The Original Was Better!
10 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the original and this movie back to back. While pleased that they were able to get the original cast back, it felt like a retelling of the same tale, only 30 years later with Azeem's son. Azeem was a lot more fun at 21. Now, he's stuffy like his father. As for the plot, it felt forced, like it was necessary to do the right thing and make his daughter heir to the throne, even though very little screen time was given to develop her character. The original felt fresh. This sequel seemed to be a rehash of the original, complete with similar jokes and antics.

Worst Movie Ever
9 March 2021
I thought there would be at least some cheese factor once I started to see that this movie was going to be a waste of time. Sadly, this was not the case. It was just a terrible movie with no purpose. How Samuel L. Jackson got roped into this monstrosity is beyond me!

Had Promise But Lost It At The End
8 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The movie seemed very slow moving at the beginning but it built up the suspense around the mysterious structure they unearthed. Soon, it becomes clear that a pathogen had invaded the team, forcing them to behave in strange ways. This actually got interesting. Where the film lost me was with it's hokey "Deer God" and terrible ending.

80's Cheesecore Takes You Back To Simpler Times
22 February 2019
This was one of my favorite movies growing up in the 80's, although back then, it was called "Pinball Summer", not "Pick-Up Summer." Being 12 years old, I thought it was hilariously brilliant when the two guys decided to stuff hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, and popcorn into the exhaust pipe of a car in the drive-in movie so when it started up, the car behind it got a blast of greasy food! Anyone going into a movie like this expecting anything more than pure hedonistic fun, stupidity, and laughs, will be sorely disappointed. However, if you want a break from your week to just chill and relive the carefree days of the early 80's then sit back and enjoy the ride!
