Disappointing And Predictable

When i sat down to watch this i was hopeful of a decent witch flick ... hope soon left town.

The acting was mediocre at best, the plot rehashed more times than i've had hot dinners and i'm still trying to figure out how the girl in the first scenes managed to throw a rock hard enough to break a window.

It's actually a shame because it could have been something great, i mean who doesn't like an urban legend or an evil witch? Apparently the writers preferred to aim for a predictable and sadly disappointing movie that really couldn't go anywhere because it never took off.

To sum it up, the best thing to come out of this movie is the poster.

I Enjoyed This From Beginning To End

At last i can review a movie i liked! I had no real expectations when i watched this but i was sucked in within minutes and thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end.

The suspense was gripping and i really felt for both main characters in this movie. I never had a moment where i felt my mind wandering, i had to keep watching this poor girls predicament and the desperation that the 911 operator was clearly feeling.

The acting was solid and although the movie may not be perfect it sure entertained me which = success.

The fact that i actually liked the characters and was willing them on the whole time was refreshing and i would seriously suggest giving this movie a go if you're considering it. Not an action flick but a decent thriller.

I'm not sure where to begin. Do i start with the horrendous acting? Or maybe the special effects that were indeed special but not in a good way. Or maybe just the downright stupidity of the script.

OK so the acting .... these people will never work again, not in the movie industry anyway ... except for the dude who dies because he could probably make a decent living being a Steve Harvey lookalike.

The FX were truly bad, and not bad like when Michael Jackson sang "i'm bad" these really were horrific and i'm pretty sure my 3 year old granddaughter could have made better FX on her hello kitty tablet.

Some of the scenes had me laughing out loud, for example, they're driving away from this killer storm and it's literally seconds away from chewing them up ... yet when they show the car from behind you can see the other side of the road where other cars are apparently driving straight into this storm. Another classic moment is when they escape near the beginning, get home, hear the son talk in shock how he saw people just explode in the storm blah blah blah ... then the mother says in a cheery matter of fact way "I'm going to make sandwiches!!" Really? .... Really??

So yeah, i highly suggest to anyone considering watching this movie ... don't.

As an afterthought, we should have a support group for all of us poor souls that endured the movie from beginning to end. Wounds like this do not heal themselves.

Edit: Forgot to mention ... what the heck was with all the slow motion action? Yes it can be cool if used maybe once in a dramatic scene ... but they overused slow-mo to the point of it being ridiculous!

Gamer (2009)

About As Entertaining As Having Your Legs Amputated

I was really looking forward to watching this movie. The storyline was promising and i actually like Gerard Butler. After half an hour im thinking to myself ... OK this has GOTTA get better, but sadly it didn't, it got a whole lot worse tho. What started as a movie with a decent plot rapidly turned into an extended marilyn manson video, it made absolutely no sense, the characters were about as deep as a dwarfs bathtub and at one point i actually had to stop myself from gouging my eyes out with a rusty spoon. I, honestly, cannot think of anyone who would find this movie entertaining in any shape or form and can say with complete seriousness that I've had more fun at the dentist ... having a root canal

Knowing (2009)

OK so i sit down with my husband to watch knowing and oh boy, where to start. It seemed really promising at first, then quickly slid down the slippery slope of crapiness. Never in my life have i watched a movie and at the end thought ... "wow, thats almost 2 hours of my life wasted" As soon as i realised the implications, and that aliens and religion were paramount my ears and eyes screamed out "rape!" Im completely offended that the writers of this ummm "movie" would think we were retarded enough to think to ourselves at the end of it "wow what a fantastic movie ... aliens .... religion (and Don't tell me religion isn't slipped in there because its got adam and eve at the end of it screaming at us) So yeah, i HATED it with a passion and im really not a mean person but wow, im truly amazed if there's anyone out there that respects and enjoys this flick. Id type more but i have to go take a shower .... i feel dirty.
