The Machine (2023)
Whoever was in charge of all these decisions...
For the whole production, needs to give us another one of these, as a whole team from cast and writing and directing and the look and sound and all, decisions came together correctly as a whole and makes this funny idea of a movie into something that is a respectable feature length comedy film.
As an actor myself, I am totally impressed by Bert doing this, even if he is playing himself, he delivers correctly: balance between the comedy but still being in the scene; also as an actor myself, I love the whole cast, obviously the leads as they just fit each other as co-stars as well as in their respective roles.
IF YOU DON'T KNOW: This movie is based on a stand up comedy joke by comedian Bert Kreischer (the lead) based on his real life experience in Russia as a young man. Hilarious story already, giving him the nickname The Machine by Russian mafia.
To conclude as to why I am giving 10:
1) yeah i am helping raise the average for irrelevant reviews (i'd genuinely give 8 or 9 for a comedy, and really it did hit me like a 10 when I watched.)
2) cast and acting is correct for this type of movie, very respectable efforts for such a hilarious plot.
3) i love seeing someone take their own short story and turn it into a movie, as I can totally relate to the desire as a filmmaker myself. Very encouraging.
4) the jokes are not dumb even though the whole thing, again, is hilarious. They have been written and approved by people who care.
The Last Laugh (2020)
Deserves balancing:
I am probably the target audience, of which is maybe very specific, so obviously it works for me and i am biased:
This is great writing, great concept, anyone saying otherwise is not considering many things, budget for one. This is great use of location and lighting in certain scenes is excellent. The lead carries more and more as the movie progresses, and is supported by great cast, of which are not hollywood name actors, yet, but are actors.
Also, this industry meta type genre is for people who enjoy film and seeing new filmmakers create, with the understanding of filmmaking and respect for it, especially when you don't have a huge studio budget. I wish I knew the budget, but you can tell that there may be quite the resource compromises; the film is bigger than budget. When it starts getting dark about midway it especially looks great with shots and lighting.
BOTTOM LINE: it's an insightful type movie for filmmakers especially, and slasher horror fans. It's original, though the plot has been done before, it does it's own worthy version of the "Stage Fright" type movies. It's for the fans, the ones who love making movies and have dreams to overcome their fears and perform at the professional level.

Masterful. Spoiler Free
So smart and funny and wow. Great cast, everything. It definitely helps my rating because I happen to love good filmmaking movies, but even if I didn't I should grow up and watch this.
This is classic good, i am big fan of director writer Olivier Assayas now and its because this show did a great job to be classy but also modern. So relevant, and then considering Olivier's obvious connection to the material very much informs everything going on.
Unbelievably good, so much to say but watch it until you get rollin, as many say at least stick out number one, this 8 hour masterpiece deserves 20 minutes of some building even though I initially was skeptical a bit, until I realized every word was perfectly written and directed.
