She's in Portland (2020)
A NON-BRO movie finally!
I enjoyed watching this mature movie about 2 close friends taking a road trip and go through some deep self discovery. There's some great footage of the California coast which works well as a backdrop to some interesting encounters and deep intelligent conversations. The writing is more sophisticated than your typical clichés out there and connects you to the characters at a more mature level. The acting is good all around and had some very good vulnerable moments that kept me engaged.
I can see from the bad reviews that some people think having deep conversations about relationships and love is boring. I suspect they were expecting more BRO talk and juvenile behavior.
The Nice Guys (2016)
A poor script. Not fun and not funny. The acting was a joke!
All around one of the worse movies I've seen in the last 50 years. The acting and script, while trying to be offbeat as a nod to the genre of the 70's, was a mess. Instead of laughing with the movie you laughed at it because of its complete stupidity. Such a senseless script that tries to be slapstick silly one moment and retro cool an other, but misses the target completely because it tries so hard. I ended up confused and disconnecting from the characters.
I don't understand the high ratings. I'm surprised these A list actors even took on this movie. They must of been offered so much money that they couldn't say no.
