What a beautiful singing voice Pier Angeli had! Her acting is this movie is terrific also!
15 March 2006
I loved this movie very much. I bought it just to hear Pier Angeli sing. I give her 10 stars just for her voice alone. She captures your attention from the moment she enters the picture till the very end. I do remember that the film has Pier Angeli portraying a singer who is wrongly convicted of murder. I loved her conviction in the scene where she pleads with one gentlemen who is an authoritative figure in the film that she didn't kill the woman. I believed her.

This movie should be sold in large quantities on Amazon.com and other websites that sell old movies. It is a shame that I had to buy it off someone on Ebay.

This is definitely one of Pier Angeli's best roles. It is my favorite without a doubt.

Aside from Port Afrique, this is the other incredible performance of Pier Angeli!
15 March 2006
I loved this movie. Pier Angeli keeps you entertained and her performance is riveting. Richard Attenborough is brilliant in this motion picture as well. I really enjoyed the message in this film. The corruption that goes on in unions is evident in this movie. I believe that this type of wrong-doing is still going on today in unions across the globe.

I read in a biography of Pier Angeli that she rehearsed the confrontational scene between herself and her on-screen husband's former friend the night before the directors filmed that scene. She apparently scared the hell out of the actor in that scene that night because she gave her all and she really got aggravated. She had just filed for divorce prior to taking on this role so I guess you can say that she had a lot of bent up frustration and wanted to release it. Love her!

Pier Angeli was charming and Richard Attenborough was wonderful in this film!
15 March 2006
I give this film 10 stars because it deserves 10 stars. Pier Angeli was charming and showed that she was very much like her character. Her character was the heart of the survivors of a plane crash that are left to try to survive on an island that could be set to blow up. Richard Attenborough was very convincing as the character who will stop at nothing to get off the island. His tenacity was evident in that role.

My favorite scene is when Pier Angeli's character goes into the water to save one survivor from drowning. This shows her character's heart and strength. She couldn't have played this role any better.

I wanted others to see it so I sold it on Ebay. I hope the person I sold it to sells it to someone else and so on and so on.

Pier Angeli and Paul Newman were terrific in this film!
15 March 2006
I really enjoyed this movie and every performance was amazing. Pier Angeli really showed range in this motion picture. Her performance was moving. I realized after seeing this film that Paul Newman was a gifted actor. I had a hard time taking my eyes of him in each scene he was in but was able to do so when Pier Angeli appeared. I didn't like his lack of effort in the Warner Brothers' motion picture The Silver Chalice but this helped change my mind about him as an actor.

Both Pier Angeli and Paul Newman should have been nominated for Academy Awards for their tremendous performances.

I know that James Dean was first chosen to portray Rocky Graziano but tragically he was killed in a devastating car accident. I know this from reading several of his biographies as well as the only biography that was written about Pier Angeli. I am sure Pier Angeli was thinking about James Dean in the role as she and Paul Newman were filming.

Pier Angeli was terrific in this film! She shows range! Without her in it the movie would have been a complete failure!
15 March 2006
I loved Pier Angeli in this movie because she showed range she went from being a playful young woman to a strong woman of conviction who is able to fall apart. I hated Paul Newman's performance. No matter how poorly-written a script is, you need to give your all to the role. He should have put aside his misgivings and done his best. He made the movie a failure. Jack Palance did his best as the villain. It could have been a great film.

The best part of filming this movie for Pier Angeli is the fact that she met, dated, and fell in love with James Dean who was filming the movie East of Eden at the same studio. So it was destiny for this lovely actress to film this forgivable movie.

Was Pier Angeli the woman in the red dress in the audience?+
15 March 2006
I saw this movie just to see a cameo of Pier Angeli. I ended up loving the movie but I wondered where Ms. Angeli was in this motion picture. Was she wearing the red dress in the audience of the first performance? I am pretty sure she was. If anyone knows for certain where Pier Angeli was in the movie let me know in a future comment about this film.

I thought this film was going to be a lame MGM musical but I was pleasantly surprised to find the plot and the dialogs in the motion picture well-developed. Cyd Charisse is very fascinating as the ballerina turned Las Vegas performer. Dan Dailey was convincing as a gambling man who tried his luck with the beautiful Cyd Charisse.

Pier Angeli was convincing as a widow of a Holocaust victim and as a trapeze artist!
15 March 2006
I loved this movie especially the the third segment featuring Pier Angeli. She really did her best portraying a suicidal widow of a Holocaust victim who becomes a trapeze artist after she is saved from drowning by Kirk Douglas's character. I am pretty sure that she relied on her own childhood in Rome for inspiration. She grew up in Rome when World War II was occurring. Her emotional scenes were the best. I can see why Kirk Douglas fell in love with her. It is hard to believe she was only nineteen when she filmed the movie. It is the first color film she did. I think it was be remembered by devoted Anna Maria Pierangeli fans for years to come.

James Dean (2001 TV Movie)

Loved it ! I only wished that Alyssa Milano could have portrayed Pier Angeli!
15 March 2006
I really enjoyed James Franco's performance. He didn't need to lose that much weight to portray James Dean. I have seen the way James Franco looks now and he looks more like him today than he did when he portrayed him in 2001 or whenever they filmed the television movie.

Aside from that, I felt that casting directors should have signed the talented gorgeous actress Alyssa Milano to portray the late beautiful actress and love of James Dean's life Anna Maria Pierangeli (better known by her stage name Pier Angeli)instead of the Italian actress who portrayed her. In 2000, Alyssa was starring in the WB television show Charmed - as she still is. During that time, Alyssa had the exact look of Pier Angeli. Alyssa would have just needed to wear hazel contacts because she has such naturally dark brown eyes. Maybe if producers want to film another television mini-series about the love affair of James Dean and Pier Angeli they should cast Justin Timberlake as James Dean and Alyssa Milano as Pier Angeli. This is only my suggestion.
