Blood Trails (2006)
a bit over the top
Blood trails is a film that tries hard but never delivers and when it looks like something will happen you have already guessed the outcome. its about a woman on a bike who happens to run into the law. instead of arresting her he passes his phone number on. then we see flashbacks of her having sex with the officer but things get out of hand, hes a bit brutal, ties her up etc. she decides to go into the mountains with her boyfriend ( who has no knowledge of her fornication ) riding their bikes to get away from it all. this is were the movie goes wrong, somehow the cop follows them, kills the boyfriend plus anyone who tries to help, manages to keep tracking her down, even though she is always peddling like mad to stay away from him. the plot has more holes in it than a tramps vest, you can always see whats going to happen next and the camera work is shot by someone eating to many smarties. the gore is far and few even though its reasonably done, its more of a thriller than horror and at times throughout the movie i kept twiddling my thumbs wishing for more to happen.
Cemetery Gates (2006)
could of been better.
Firstly, this film is not going to win any Oscars for its acting or storyline or best creature of the year, but on the other hand if blood and guts and a little humour thrown in is your thing then this might be the flick for you. we have four young males, two females, one is the intelligent type and the other is the dumb blonde bimbo, out to make a film in a cemetery. nearby we have a couple of animal activists who break into a lab and release an animal who has been experimented on and is now a blood thirsty killer roaming the forest.sure enough what we get is a bad looking animal killing every thing it sees. i have to say the death scenes are very gory, limbs ripped out there sockets, intestines spewing out, decapitations and buckets of blood. as i said the story and acting isn't great but if you love your horror films to be gory then this may be for you.
Joshua (2006)
underrated
I loved this film,OK. its made by fangoria but don't let this put you off. I believe the budget for the film wasn't very much but you would not think so. The acting and direction are all above standard, and the camera work is cleverly done. The gore factor although not prolific is well done and impressive. The story at first is a little slow and could be a little confusing at times, but that all changes as this movies then turns into a roller-coaster ride, with enough twists, shocks and turns to keep you glued to your seat. If your looking for a horror film thats different and were you actually want your brain to work for a change and think, then this could be the film for you, check it out, you won't be disappointed.
