The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Power Broker (2021)
More!
Definitely the best episode yet. Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie's chemistry is ridiculous. Seeing Sharon Carter again was great. She's become such a boss ass woman in her time away. Hope we see more of her in the future. Zemo was the best thing about this episode. I adored him in Civil War. This series is going to really show how good of a character he is. Daniel Bruhl just radiates charisma in the role. Him in THAT mask was great.
Special mention to Erin Kellyman aka Karli Morgenthau, who was also in the Han Solo movie too. She's going to be one for the future. This show is going to make a name out of her.
Can't wait for more!
Promising Young Woman (2020)
CAREY MULLIGAN FOR THE OSCAR PLEASE
I absolutely adore Carey Mulligan. Have watched her since her Doctor Who episode Blink in 2007 and have been amazed at how incredible she has been since. This is her 3rd nomination at the Oscars and I'm praying she wins. What a performance. I would go so far to say it might just be her best ever. Hopefully Emerald Fennell gets an award too seeing as this is her DEBUT in directing. She's going to be certainly one to look out for. A movie that everyone must see.
PLEASE GIVE CAREY MULLIGAN HER DESERVED OSCAR!!!!!
WandaVision: The Series Finale (2021)
ELIZABETH OLSEN FOR EVERY ACTING AWARD
Wow. The acting on this show truly did set a standard for the MCU going forward. Elizabeth Olsen put in 9 episodes worth of Emmy winning acting and hopefully will be a career changer for her. Paul Bettany and Kathryn Hahn also should be given those same awards.
Wanda Maximoff has the best character arc in the entire MCU after this show. From Monica using her Proton powers to Vision and White Vision battling to Darcy's 3 second cameo, it had it all.
People complaining about unanswered questions need a little patience. They have to realise this show was all about Wanda. It was her story. How she had to create this life and what she was forced to do to stop it.
White Vision also going to Wakanda to get Shuri to give him the copy of his body anyone?
Only thing I'm annoyed at is Evan Peters/Fox Pietro treatment. We really thought he was going to be a massive player only for him to be reduced to a boner joke?
No Mephisto or Reed Richards mentions but this show has done what it was supposed to do. Give Wanda the story she deserves and sets Phase IV up perfectly for the multiverse.
WandaVision: Breaking the Fourth Wall (2021)
WOW. WOW. WOW. WOW. WOW. WOW. Was that enough wow's?
I continue to be amazed by this show in terms of quality. The modern day sitcom format was by far my favourite they've done. The Office being my all time favourite show also helps in the nostalgia. The theme remixed along with Modern Family's font was a great catch. The 'talking heads' made famous by both shows was really well done, both Elisabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany played the comedy aspects of them fantastically.
Monica being revealed as a Mutant was incredible. PHOTON everyone is here. Every week I reiterate how Elisabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany need to win awards for their work but after this week, Kathryn Hahn needs to be included in that. THAT ending made me shout I KNEW IT! The Agatha All Along segment was gobsmacking and the theme is something I'll not stop listening to until next Friday.
We now know what Norm from Vision's office meant when he said 'She's in my head' meaning it was Agatha not Wanda as well as Agatha orchestrating everything within Wanda's world including killing Sparky (RIP little man). Also the fly being zoomed in on wasn't a coincidence. MEPHISTO.
Next week proves to be can't miss episode yet again. This show is the highlight of my week.
WandaVision: All-New Halloween Spooktacular! (2021)
This show continues to get better and better...
Wow. This show is starting to really become something else. The ending was such a shock and it truly demonstrates how powerful Wanda is and could be. Hoping Monica's contact could be a potential Fantastic Four member? I hope Darcy is okay! Wanda and Pietro's exchanges were fun especially that KickAss reference (if you know, you know), that jumpscare asked a lot of questions, I hope the Evan Peters version of Quicksilver is here permanently and not just a sign of the big bad because he's fantastic. The 90's sitcom vibes were in full swing with Malcolm in the Middle esque fourth wall breaks. Agnes dressed as a witch? Surely that's not a coincidence.
This show is doing exactly what it is supposed to. Leave us wanting more!
WandaVision: On a Very Special Episode... (2021)
Sensational. Fantastic. Should I keep going?
Best episode yet. The production values on this show are just unreal. I knew last week's episode was leading up to something big and I did have my suspicions about Pietro and I was hoping it was going to Evan Peters and boy was I happy to see him!
Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany's acting is fantastic yet again with particular mention to THAT scene when Wanda goes crazy. If this is the standard that we have not only for the rest of the show, but the rest of the MCU's TV verse, we are in for a treat.
The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019)
Heartwarming at it's finest
What a film.
Shia LaBeouf continues to shine in another indie darling. Hopefully this is a comeback to remember for him. Zack Gottsagwen was a pleasure to watch and so infectious throughout while Dakota Johnson was her charming, adorable self. Give it a watch. You'll come out feeling 100% happier than what you were.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
MARVEL HAVE DONE IT AGAIN FOLKS.
Quite simply the best Marvel movie ever made and the best Marvel movie experience I've ever had. What an incredible 3 hours of cinema. I'm speechless from the last part and can't quite believe Marvel pulled off a movie with so many characters as well as they did when the MCU started just 11 years ago. The end of an era. The beginning of a new one. Marvel, you've done it again, you marvellous human beings.
Unicorn Store (2017)
Brie Larson haters can go away...
Seeing the reviews for this film being largely based on Brie Larson is ridiculous. The sexism just because she portrayed Captain Marvel is as outdated as you can get. Fanboys who have nothing better to do with their time than bash successful talented people. This movie wasn't designed to win awards. It was a quirky fun movie and that's exactly what Brie did with it. Her charisma shines throughout. Another fantastic performance from one of the world's best people.
Our Planet (2019)
David Attenborough does it again...
As if I thought Sir David couldn't do anything more to amaze me, he comes up with this. What a phenomenal 8 episode show. The man is just extraordinary.
Fyre (2019)
Wow. Just Wow.
I've only got around to watching Fyre about a month after it's release and heard a lot about it but I did not expect what I witnessed in 1 hour and 36 minutes. The true extent of what took place is just mind blowing. McFarland should have got at least 20 years in jail, never mind 6 for the atrocities he committed. It's one thing to fraud investors out of 27 million but to fraud the public too, especially those 200 plus workers who helped build the infrastructure and the poor restaurant worker who had to give her savings to them! What's really sad though is the fact that the festival genuinely could have been really well done and something different had it been planned a good couple of years in advance. But no, McFarland being the arrogant man he is, thought he could have done it in 6-8 weeks. Him telling the producer to perform a sexual act just to get the water was just incredible. I think Ja Rule should have been arrested too, although he isn't to blame as much as Billy, he certainly played a massive part, especially when he considered that it wasn't fraud but 'false advertising'.
All in all, a superb documentary on a disgraceful event.
Lady Bird (2017)
A fantastic coming of age film
I love coming of age films and this is up there with the best. What truly makes this film brilliant is Saoirse Ronan in the titular role. I've been watching Ronan ever since Atonement way back in 2007 and thought the Lovely Bones was and still is her best role but she is phenomenal in this film. She truly shines through and makes you feel as if you are watching a 17 year old Ronan herself. Even better when you consider she wanted to portray the role with acne because she was playing a teenager. Laurie Metcalf was also brilliant and was shocked to find out she didn't win any awards for Best Supporting Actress.
100% recommend.
