Tin Man (2007)

Tin Man Well Done
9 December 2007
What I like about Tin Man is that it isn't a remake, but a different take on an old, classic storyline. With new characters & a different storyline. Another thing I thought was cool was all the small references to the original Wizard of Oz. A small phrase here, a quiet mention there, you had to be paying attention to catch most of it. I would say my favorite character would have to be the Tin Man. He was the most tortured one out of the small group & yet he found himself again after helping D.G., Glitch & Raw. It was an inner struggle that some of us could relate to. Glitch, definitely an interesting character you can't help but like. Raw, an intriguing take on the Cowardly Lion. And of course, D.G., focused on getting to her family, but not entirely about getting home. The Evil Queen, The Wizard, Toto & all the other characters add their own splash into the Wizard of Oz pond. There are very few TV mini-series that I care to own, & the Tin Man is definitely one of them. I have recommended this mini-series to all my friends & co-workers & they have all agreed that it is a very good & touching story.

A Golden Story
9 December 2007
Going into this movie, I knew the storyline would be good but I was more worried about the visual effects. I was blown away how everything looked so real; so, well, perfect. Another fantasy movie that was done very, very well. I especially like the daemons that everyone had & of course, Iorak Byrnison, the Ice Bear King. Dakota Blue Richards did an excellent job portraying Lyra; she is one of the best child actors that I've seen in awhile. I hope that the others two stories of this trilogy are done as well as the Golden Compass. When it comes to fantasy, you have to understand that the story is fictional & the story takes you away for a few hours. And the Golden Compass did just that.

Ghost Rider (2007)

Ghostrider has ridden & is gone
17 February 2007
I knew going into this movie, it would be good. What I didn't expect was for it to be that good. I've always been a Nicolas Cage fan, and this movie has re-enforced himself even more. The acting, visual and direction were all very well done. The movie was dark, like some movies now-a-days yet it wasn't corny either. It has a little humor here and there but just enough to keep you interested. The first time he changes into Ghostrider, you can feel his pain. You can hear the pain in his voice, that is how good an actor Cage is. Once he turns, the visuals for Ghostrider are excellent. Then the way his bike changes when he does, adds to the movie. The ending, as with all good comic book movies, is left open. If you're a Cage fan or not; if you're a Ghostrider fan or not; see this movie for the action and the struggle he goes through. If that doesn't seal it for you, see it for Sam Elliot.

A Thriller with a Good Ending
21 December 2006
M. Night Shyamalan did an excellent job producing, directing and writing the story. He's got another great movie to add to his list of must-sees. The acting was excellent. Paul Giamatti did an excellent job as Cleveland Heep. The storyline itself was excellent, especially all the little twists and turns Shyamalan created to amuse the viewer. This movie is what I classify as a feel-good-movie. It keeps you thinking about the movie long after the ending. Shyamalan has definitely proved his writing, producing and directing skills. If you want a thriller without all the blood and gore and has a good storyline, then see this movie.

A New Era
25 November 2006
When I first heard they were making another Superman, I didn't care. I didn't want to see it. I grew up with Christopher Reeves being Superman. When I saw pictures of Brandon Routh in the Superman outfit, I thought maybe he could pull it off. He even looked like a Superman, even had the cleft in the chin. Then I learned Kevin Spacey was playing Lex Luthor. Come on! Kevin Spacey? But when I finally got to see the previews, I thought maybe I should see this. When I did, I was blown away. I fell in love with the movie. Brandon Routh pulled off the role of Superman and Clark Kent very well. He was a nobody who got cast in a very memorable and important role. You either fit the role or you failed. He definitely fit the role. And the outfit. They changed the color of the cape to a darker red, and it works. If your skeptical about this movie, you have every right, but give it chance. Who knows, you might even like it. I did. I hope they make a few more with Routh, who knows, a new era for Superman might begin this century.

Heartwarming Romance Must See
25 November 2006
I thought Sandra and Keanu had great chemistry in Speed, and I hoped they had great chemistry in Lake House. They did. I read somewhere that Keanu couldn't pull off a romance, he just didn't have it. Whoever said that was totally wrong. Keanu did a wonderful job in Lake House. He can save your life, become a God in his world, and have a romance in a single day. And Sandra, she's perfect for romance, she has that face and sad eyes. Then they way they met and kept writing to each other was heartwarming. I really got into this movie, wanting them to finally meet. It was frustrating but in a good way. I really liked this movie, the storyline was excellent, I just didn't understand what was going on. Kept me guessing until the end. When I saw the previews, I didn't understand it one bit, another reason why I really wanted to see this movie, and I am glad I did. I would recommend this romance to any one who dared to ask about it. Romances is one of my favorite genres, and this one is in the top ten. Another one of my must haves.

Da Vinci Code Well Beyond Expectations
25 November 2006
I read the book twice, once several months before the movie hit theaters, and the second time to refresh my memory before seeing it. The book was excellent and they kept pretty much to the book. I am a big fan Tom Hanks. I have never known him star in a bad movie in his career. When I learned he was starring in Da Vinci Code, I knew it would be a good movie. And it was. Well worth waiting for. And of course, Sir Ian McKellen, you've got to like him, he's Gandalf! This role was a little different for him, but I still liked it. The visuals, and of course, the acting was great. The storyline, like I said, was great. I know the movie was controversial but I went in not expecting it to be good or bad, just expecting them to keep to the book and to be entertained for two hours. But that is how I go into every movie I want to see. I want it to be good that is why I am paying to see it. The Da Vinci Code will be on my Christmas list this year for a must have.

Definitely in First Place
25 November 2006
This was definitely a good movie. Kept me smiling and laughing all the way through. Not only was the acting (voices) good, there was actually a moral of the story: don't lose yourself in all the fame and glory, and don't forget your friends, or how you got there. And it had a happy ending, which is always good. Especially for a comedy, it's got to have a good ending otherwise what was the point in watching the movie? Out of all the characters, Mater was my favorite. They picked the perfect person to do the voice for him, Larry the Cable Guy. He didn't have to create an accent or anything, that's how he really is. This movie is good on so many levels, for adults or kids alike. But what I really like is that all the characters in the movie were vehicles. The audience at the races, the pit crews, the lost couple and even the bugs. And when it came to the Tractor Tipping, I couldn't stop laughing. At first I thought the scene was out of place but it wasn't. Then the small movie with Mater and the Blue Light and the Screaming Banshee, was definitely something to watch. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to laugh and likes movies that make you feel good afterwards. I've heard rumors about them making a sequel, I say no. Leave a good thing alone. Let Cars stand alone and leave the sequel in the dust.
