G.I. Joe: Renegades (2010–2011)

Nice try but...
15 July 2023
As a child of the 80s, I religiously watched G. I. Joe every afternoon. I had the toys, i drank the Kool-Aid.

I became interested in this iteration of G. I. Joe, due to the voice cast. I watched a few episodes before I started writing this, so don't think that I am not invested in it.

Voice cast aside, this is a great premise for the G. I. Joe team, but horrible animation and some weird changes in the lore let it down. Duke, as leader of the Joes, was an e-8, or master sergeant. Scarlett was an e-5, a sergeant. Flint was not an LT, but an e-6 Staff Sergeant. They got Lady Jaye right; as an E4 her secondary specialty was personnel.

Given the A-Team-type of story line and the stellar voice cast, it could have been something. Too bad.

Honestly called it. Definitely not a watch.
5 February 2023
Definitely don't watch this for fire fighting content. Called it within 8 minutes... someone making out in the turnout room, pushing a car out of the way of a hydrant, old guy in house collapses... god this is horrible. Then again I started watching Grey's Anatomy thinking it was a hospital show. My mistake, should have learned my lesson. Please... god... if you have one, either start listening to or fire your firefighting advisor... if a firefighter falls, their PASS device goes off in 4-5 seconds... a piercing alarm that is easy to locate in smoke-filled rooms. Fall bags can't be deployed that quickly... please stop taking your notes from Backdraft! Having your child in same chain of command is called nepotism, please look it up. A paramedic does NOT correct doctor on scene. What they prescribe, they ride. God this is a dumpster fire of a show.

Honestly?? I cried! Y'all are crazy.

The bigotry that permeates these ratings is amazing. So the Doctor is a woman? What is the problem? So Russell Davies didn't write the episode? What's the deal? I am white and male and I seriously cried during this episode. I'm in the US, and to have this story played out in such a poignant way absolutely floored me. Tbh it absolutely amazed me they didn't have any American casting in this. Shame that this had to happen but in its absolute tragedy there is beauty. I won't lie and say that racism and bigotry doesn't exist anymore, but I'm glad for people like Mrs. Parks that started the ball rolling.

Another "Claire and her A-hole Kids" Episode? Not great
31 August 2022
Okay I was trying really hard to like this episode but everyone else is right. This is not a great start for this season. While I understand what they're trying to do by making Isaac the pivot point, the Marcus and Charly characters are way over the top. To be honest, I get the inclusion of Claire's kids but every time I see them I just want to scream. I hate being "that guy" but if I treated my mother the way they do, I'd have been grounded for life and then some. Probably worse than that.

Introduction of both Charly and the Pterodon seems a bit gratuitous and forced. While I understand the "macguffin" needed with both of them, it just felt kinda uncomfortable.

Also, most of the humor seems to be missing from this episode. Guessing that was a conscious choice given the subject matter, but once again it feels a bit uncomfortable.

Star Trek What?
29 July 2022
Other than Strange New Worlds, the latest incarnations of Star Trek have left a lot to be desired. Orville has picked up the ball and run with it. I'm practically breathless after this episode! Amazing.

Tore me up.

This episode hands down is one of the best of the run, and it shows that McFarlane and crew are really dialing in on the pulse of what is quality storyline. No spoilers, but I teared up.

This is painful.

I'm a fan of the Rookie and I just couldn't finish this episode. It's ridiculously horrible. The "plucky fish out of water who has a different perspective" trope is so tired.

So much bad
2 May 2022
Wow this was a horrible episode. So much bad. Why do they try to shoehorn people and situations into existing properties in hopes to push agendas.

" Candidates must be between 23-36 years of age; we highly encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply." Straight from the recruitment site...Lot of good info there that apparently didn't factor into this episode at all.

Please just stop. This is the lowest I've ever rated anything.

A welcome change...

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I was about to write off this series due to the idiotic way the kid captain is portrayed. But then, this episode with so many familiar characters. I spent half of it practically in tears and then the dedication at the end... this could be Prodigy's peak.

Ugh. Even worse on the rewatch.
4 December 2021
This is my first review for IMDB, so forgive me if it's not the best, but I'm very motivated to write. This series is now in its third season and I rewatched it to give it another chance. The original series and even the 1997 movie were great and I thoroughly enjoyed both. This... I cannot get into. The "kids know better than their parents" trope is really getting old. The Judy character is just so...ugh. Her sarcasm is unwelcome and nasty at times and I honestly don't know if I can make it through this again. Edit: I didn't bother.
