Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
To many feelings.
Star Trek Discovery has potential. Good actors. Lots of great special effects. A weird niche in the Star Trek Universe. But......
The characters are unlikable. The show focuses on all of the characters mental problems. So much as to spend at least 50% of every episode going into long boring speeches about everyone on the ships feelings. Woe-is-me feelings constantly break up any actual Star Trek action. The emotional speeches focus on the next event being the MOST important, MOST tragic, MOST important, MOST dangerous, MOST self focused thing that ever is to happen in the whole entire universe. If you take a stop watch and time all the therapy speeches it would add up to half of every single episode. Just stop with all the constant mental health dissection. It is called Star Trek, not Therapy Trek.
Also the way the crew of this ship goes on, you probably need about 300 ship counselors on board to deal with all the lune.
Had potential, but by far the worst series in the Star Trek universe by far.
The Littlest Angel (1969)
A movie to make your children not want to go to heaven
This movie was really sad. A little boy dies and then has to go to heaven to hang out with middle aged men. Heaven looks so scary that kids will never want to go there when they die. I understand it was a 1969 blue screen failure, but a little boy bouncing on a 50 year old mans neck is a little bit unsettling. The only good part was at the end when they read some passages out of Luke in the bible. When the kid falls off the cliff at the beginning you can clearly see that he is jumping into some mans arms. This is because you see the hand in the side of the frame. I think this was dreamed up by a Catholic priest.
The Russian Five (2018)
A great 1980's to1990's NHL time capsule for the true hockey fan.
This movie was amazing. It captured the feeling of 1990's NHL hockey. The documentary was well put together and reminded you of the political climate of the 80's/90's as well as the extreme physical nature of the NHL at this time period. Red Wings fans should love it. Avalanche fans ought to respect it. NHL fans should never forget it.
It was extremely interesting learning the actual stories of how Russian players had to drastically change their lives to leave their home country to play in the NHL.
We brought a friend who is a physician in the United States, was born in Russia, and knew very little about hockey. She loved the movie and cheered hard for the Russian players.
The Little Mermaid (2018)
Wow.... that was BAD
This movie had real props, but seemed like a bunch of teenagers made a movie in an afternoon. The last half hour was the worst.
