A Mind to Murder (1995)
Who writes this stuff?
Nothing like the book. Opens with Dalgleish watching his DS,Sarah, run in to a warehouse. He follows, finds 2 bodies. Goes up a couple of stairscases finds a pistol. Looks over a rail and sees Sarah dead on the floor below, the murderer standing over her. Instead of just shooting the guy, Adam lets him get away. What?! So dumb. The rest of the film deviates so far from the book as to be unrecognizable. The acting, scenery and main characters are fine, but the solution has nothing to do with the book. Ancillary characters are forgettable and not very likable. I realize poetic license us commonplace in films and TV series episodes, but this one made absolutely no sense.
Commissaire Magellan (2009)
Is watchable... until Ludo shows up
All episodes follow a pattern. Past histories, usually involving a child out of wedlock in the past, and 2 murders. The culprit is easy to spot early on, so not much mystery. Selma is the only competent police officer. Magellan has her do all the dangerous stuff, especially if shots are fired. For some reason, he doesn't bother to carry a weapon. Fast forward through the scenes with nephew Ludo. He's unwatchable. Just a waste of oxygen. Why Magellan can't manage his household is never explained. Very irritating to see such incompetence. I wouldn't want him leading an investigation into the murder of someone I knew.
Tandem (2016)
Premise makes no sense
No police force would allow a a formerly married couple to work in the same unit, much less have one supervise the other. Just dumb. Add 2 irritating kids and weak plots and you get a very mundane show.
