Above Suspicion: Deadly Intent: Part 3 (2011)
Season 3, Episode 3
2/10
Absolutely insulting
25 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The first 2 episodes were full of twists and lots of turns. Though I think the female star is only there for eye candy and leg shots I thought the stories were good - UNTIL THE LAST EPISODE! They kept throwing up red herrings...could have ben done in 2 episodes. Why? Because in the 3rd - So many mistakes!! She (the cop) refuses to stop the plane with her car because a child is on board? But then the cops get out of the car and chase an airplane??!! Then she mouths "I love you" to her boss as he heads angrily back to the car?? INFURIATING! How stupid do the writers think we are! Ruined the whole series.

Murder in Batz (2015 TV Movie)

Yep, "lazy film making"
22 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Watch only if there is nothing else on TV. At 15 minutes we'd given up - too many mistakes already! But we had a drink and plowed through all the bilge water thinking there must be a hidden plot somewhere in this mess. Figured out the girl's identity early; figured out who the murderer was halfway. The why was messy and thrown in like the end of a Lassie TV show. The "policeman" in charge of solving the murder was oblivious - left the crime scene to be cleaned without gathering clues; the French authorities released the body to the family before he knew the identity of it; ignored the dog who kept digging & leading him to clues; let the citizens take over another crime scene without examining the body even though the "cleaner" told him was murder, then it was ignored and not explained; AND SO MANY MORE MISTAKES! Just a MESS! The writers should never work again. The lead actor should change his name. Honestly, in retrospect, not worth the 4 stars we gave it. Now, I really need a drink to forget I watched this mess. Only watch if you're playing a drinking game to count the enumerable mistakes in this plot! Now that would take a lot of beer!!

FINALLY .. a REAL adult series...
29 August 2022
Not blood, gore and sex ... but GREAT chemistry. Absolutely LOVE the interaction between Greta & Bryan. Beautiful and handsome - NOT the fake beauty on American TV. We love it. Each show is good and builds towards the conclusion but also, THANKFULLY, toward another season. Takes advantage of the scenery and culture of Australia and Queensland. Interesting supporting characters in each episode. PLEASE keep the seasons coming. I can see these two characters together for many seasons and it would not be boring watching the relationship grow. LOVE LOVE LOVE Bryan Brown and the REAL mature Greta Scacchi! THANK YOU.

For 10 year olds...if they like cartoons.
31 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Farting into a dressing room to clear it out?? I guess a 10 year old would laugh but the story line is for ... well, I don't know!??! I absolutely can't imagine who would enjoy this childish prattle. I think the reviews must be from family members. But the fart scene was only the final straw - the acting was atrocious. My high school play was poorly acted and this didn't even rank that high. I managed 16 minutes and that was while playing Solitaire so as not to waste those minutes. Again, nothing romantic here, only a big bosomed girlfriend, a teenage wife, a farting sister and a wannabe surfer dude who wouldn't be believable in a men's deodorant commercial. Watch at your own risk and only if you believe the reviews, obviously, by the families of those in this lame production. I can usually laugh my way through bad movies but this one didn't deserve the lost minutes of my life.

Finally, an enjoyable series - mystery without gore
20 May 2022
No blood & guts. No sad, dark heroes or heroines. Just good characters, multiple mysteries, comic relief and hints of romance! And, a strong feminine lead, family and Italy! I'm hoping for lots more episodes and seasons. Pleeeeeeze??

I can't believe I watched this!
17 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
In part 3, the Superintendent says to Claire: "Get down off your cross" Exactly.

And, BTW, only martyrs need watch this painful mess.

One, long, drawn-out look at Claire's face after another and not a face with any depth - she had only one, pained, expression!

The real pain was ours. Believing, like the kid expecting a pony for Christmas ... there must be something in this pile of ... well, drivel, we continue to watch.

But there's no pony.

This series was bad on every level-writing, acting, directing. As an aside - the supporting cast was good - they deserved better.

Example of one unnecessary waste of time - daughter missing, obvious target of the killer, cops tracking her phone, cops rushing from all over the city, she's in terrible danger ... uh ... call her?! Oops, just another red herring!

I rushed through episode 3 - nothing there. Wedding scene - what the frick???

Finally, after far, far, far too many more red herrings, a killer discovered ... Claire, the martyr, arms outstretched in front of the his car. I laughed out loud!

BUT ... it's not over yet!

We, the martyrs, cry out ... please just end this mess!

And it did .... end in a mess!

Horrible on every level - writing, acting, directing, casting of the leads.

Oh, why didn't I trust the reviews AND my instincts?? I tried to watch this once before. Opening scene, interminably long run, with "Claire" ...yuck ... nothing to see here ... and my instinct was right.

Well, to my credit, I didn't believe anything could be this bad - but it was worse.

At the end, you'll wish she'd get shot - but no such luck. Poor John.

Honestly, you'll wish you could shoot her!

I need a stiff martini!

Really, really fun mystery - more please.
1 April 2022
I love the characters - especially Jean & Dom. It's murder, it's intrigue, it's fun and you're not quite sure if all the characters are who they appear. Each episode was interesting with a story all its own but the bigger mystery was not solved (though not completely) until the last episode. I wish there were lots more mysteries like this and can't wait for more Madame Blanc Mysteries!!!!!

Season 1 only - great until episodes 5 & 6
12 March 2022
We watched Season 1, only, and after reading the reviews, probably will not watch Season 2. We watched on PBS Masterpiece app, French with English subtitles. The first 5 episodes kept us engrossed - lots of tension but building and unfolding plot enough to be interesting. Not too much gore and that was appreciated but lots of mystery & tension. Characters unfolded as well. THEN as we were on the edge of our seats at Episode 5 - what a disappointment. Episodes 6 & 7 plodded along unnecessarily. Everything could have wrapped there but no ... they dragged out with a plodding half of Episode 5 and every more unnecessary Episode 6. Really left a "bad taste" and dropped Series 1 from a solid 9 to a 6. Should have wrapped it up in Episode 5. Scene at the bunker was totally drawn out and implausible- Sandra was right there! They must have bern contracted for 6 episodes - 5 would have been great!

I loved it and pray there are more seasons!!! Don't stop now! I loved the characters - some were slimy, some were bad to the bone, some just human! Great characters and plot! Kept me guessing ... wrong most of the time. Pleeeeeeze more seasons. We need some good drama!

Had potential...
28 April 2021
Like one reviewer said, sad detective with stupid boss who couldn't find her own ass in a line-up, and enough holes to keep me yelling suggestions at the screen!! If I didn't have the remote to just skip the drivel I'd have given up. That being said ... it has potential. Hire some people to clean up the storyline, ie, check phone records! Keep any eye on suspects. Just simple stuff that even we peons know good cops do. On the good side, we really liked John Simm & Richie Campbell. We'll watch the next part hoping for more of them, better writing and another boss!

Oh, this is sooooooo good
17 April 2021
What a relief to find this series. I am an American woman in my 70s and I love good detective series (Vera, Wallander, Foyle's War, Frost, Endeavour, etc) especially in light of the trash on American television written & only used to promote a Democratic Socialist workd-view. Good stories from Great Britain & European TV are copied and rewritten to be dumbed-down for the Anerican public. We no longer have cable and instead use Prime, Brit Box, Acorn, Walter, etc., for our entertainment. However, most of what we find well-done are the detective dramas and, though the writing & acting is excellent, they are becoming very graphic and I needed a break. I was thrilled to find this series and very sad there are no more than 2 seasons! I haven't finished it yet (on S2 E6) but already wishing there were more episodes. It's not vapid and childish, or relying on slapstick for humor, like way too many comedies on TV and cable. It's really engaging and funny with enough reality to bring just the right amount of tension. I'm already dreading the end.

Kate & Koji (2020–2022)

Oh please ... more like this!
17 April 2021
Yes, I'm old ... 71, and I love detective series. I long for more "Vera", "Midsomer Murders," etc. I've watched all of Wallander (3 versions), Foyle's War, Endeavour, Morse, Lewis, Vera, etc. All good ... but I find the newer series are becoming very dark with way toooooo much exploitive & gruesome reality. I am an intelligent woman and I don't need every gruesome detail discussed and shown on the screen. I'm finding the current world reality quite gruesome enough and need some levity ... but GOOD acting and writing for comedy is hard to come by. I found "Kate & Koji" really fun to watch. I was sad when each episode ended. Refreshing characters and, of course, Brenda Blethyn! Just hope there are more seasons and more series like it.

It used to be our favorite!
15 April 2021
We've loved every season of Death in Paradise UNTIL season 9. "Neville" was insufferable ... and yet .... here he is again in season 10. He is somewhat subdued but just can't compare to the other leads. THEN, Ruby left and they added "Marlon!" Ruby was a breath of fresh air ... funny but with some depth. The changes have just "dumbed-down" a really great show. We're watching episode 3 now but I don't know if we can get through the 19th season.

Oh soooooo good
25 February 2021
I do hope there's more than one season. It started slow ... at least for Americans' taste ... but each episode built to the last and it was great! After watching all 8 episodes of season one, I'd say it was almost perfect from start to finish. Not everything answered but I loved the ending. Loved the cast - every one perfectly suited to their roles. Especially liked the 4 cold case members! So sorry when season one ended - I'm ready for more!!!

Whew! What a great series (based on season 1)
29 January 2021
Just finished watching Season 1. It's exactly the kind of crime series I've been looking for and gave up finding on American TV because it's not there. Great actors who make you think they are the characters they portray. A little bit of time on "red herrings" but realistically showed devastation on victim families. The bad reviews probably came from people who play video games or who've never read a good book. This series was like reading a good book ... couldn't wait to see where the story went as it unfolded ... slowly, deliberately. Not overtly gory or brutal though the tension and storyline were crafted so well my stomach stayed in knots. 4 days for 8 episodes ... now, I'm eagerly looking forward to Season 2. PLEASE ..... more seasons!!!!

SOOOOOO GOOD!
20 October 2020
My husband and I (Florida residents, in our 70s) gave up on Anerican TV. We watch Jeopardy & Wheel, SEC football, News, and old crime shows on YouTubeTV. However, for drama & crime, we watch Acorn & BritBox. Some, Prime originals. We love British, Australian, New Zealand series - not slick, fake people, like Anerican TV. Believable characters. Now, we've moved to Norwegian crime. "Wisting" is one of the best series we've seen in a long time! Really, should rate a 10 but perfection is hard - this is close! Well done, not slow-moving; still not clear about Wisting's wife. But almost binged the whole series. All episodes were good stories; good cast; cleverly done; lots of suspects, twists & turns! MORE MORE MORE please!!!!!

Just in time to glorify socialism
25 May 2020
Disappointed that udy Dench portrayed the lie of a sweet, well-meaning old woman who cared only for world peace! That's NOT what the real Red Joan wanted; furthermore, THE Red Joan was a virulent woman who did a great deal of damage because of her spying. Sorry I watched it. I wish I'd read more about the movie and the real Joan. Disgusted that it was not truthful about the person but gave the pretense of being a biopic! The movie portrayed a lie of Joan being sweet & innocent and, obviously, was made to reach the young and ignorant growing socialist population. The big bad "West" versus the peace-loving Russians. Sickening.
