Monstrous (2022)
Why the bad ratings??
I really enjoyed this movie. I am pretty good at guessing what's going on, plot twists etc but did not see this coming.
People nowadays are so hard to please. Absolutely recommend a watch. Christina Ricci plays her part very well. I love the 50s setting and the storyline does have you believing this is some kind of haunting. Is she just mentally ill? Who or what is haunting them?
The ending had me in tears to be honest. The only negative thing I can say is I wish they had made the ending a little more clear. I won't give away too much though...it's better than a lot of crappy movies out there at the moment.
Harry & Meghan: The Complete Story (2022)
Woe is Me
Look, Harry and Meghan seem like a fairly nice couple and we wish them all the best.
But stop looking for attention and doing these trashy shows if you wanted to be away from the media in the first place!
Stop trashing the royal family. Meghan will never live up to Kate's image and she knows it...why? Because Kate knows how to play the part and be classy. Classy people stay quiet and deal with their issues behind closed doors.
They don't drag everyone else through the dirt in the process. The fact you needed to make this show just proves you don't really have anything to say. Oh do shut up.
Terminator: Resistance (2019)
Excellent Game- Ignore the haters. Honestly.
As someone who has been playing games like Half Life, Tomb Raider etc for years now I am not new to the world of first- person shooters. I love the Terminator movies and this game, also the DLC, definitely do them justice.
Firstly, the atmosphere is amazing. Scary. I like the fact that in the first part of the game you have to hide from the Terminators to progress. You're on the edge.
Secondly, the music is super. Adds "creepiness" and tension to the atmosphere of the game play.
As for the quality of the gaming itself- design, weapons etc- there is absolutely nothing to complain about.
I've played this game several times now and am not tired of it.
I HOPE THEY WILL DO ANOTHER!!
Z Nation (2014)
Such a good show on so many levels
So, my husband and I saw the title for this show on Netflix and thought, oh no, not another zombie show...but then we gave it a try because we are fans of The Walking Dead (TWD). Thus, this review will compare Z Nation to TWD because there are many elements present in it and hey, it's THE main zombie show at the moment!
I must say, wow- Z Nation is actually a lot more entertaining than TWD. It is fast paced but still focuses on character development without going into detail which can get tiring and it is also very funny!
I get the impression that, in a way, it takes things that could be improved with TWD and works on that. Firstly, as mentioned above, the character development isn't so detailed as with TWD but you still get attached and pick your favourites quite quickly. Secondly, the show stays realistic in that it kills off a main character and adds a new one here and there. It doesn't find a way of saving them just because the audience has become attached- hey, would it be any different in real life?! Thirdly, each episode offers a different element, it isn't boring in that several sequential episodes concentrate on the same story. Also, there is a destination, a reason for this team to carry on fighting to get somewhere: the fact that one of the main characters is immune to becoming a zombie (so far) and that it is important for the team to keep him alive...but who really knows what his future holds and what the plan is there in general...it is exciting nevertheless!
This show should definitely have a higher rating in general and, even though we are just in the first season, it seems quite promising.
The Colony (2013)
Underrated
I watched this movie with low expectations after checking the IMDb rating but the fact that Fishburne has a role convinced me to watch it in the end.
I have to say how surprised I am about the general feedback. It was really enjoyable with a suspenseful atmosphere and it was actually quite scary at some points which I wasn't expecting! I'm a fan of this genre and the scary is not "ghost" scary but a real kind of terror you'd feel if you were in the situation.
I was expecting it to be a typical B kind of movie but the general atmosphere was everything other than that.
The main character reminded me of Zac Efron all the time but I suppose that is highly irrelevant, just saying!
The X Files: I Want to Believe (2008)
Disappointing
The movie itself was satisfactory but NOT as an X-File movie. The idea is good as your average thriller but unfortunately the whole Scully and Mulder atmosphere was not present. There were no elements of that mysterious what-the-hell-is-going-to-happen-now atmosphere that was involved in the series and especially in the first X-File movie.
I must say that it did not meet my expectations (although I had no idea what the film was about really) and Scully and Mulder's classic characters, as we know them, were weak.
In a nut shell I think most fans will be disappointed because the suspenseful, 'alien theme' was just not there (okay, this was intentional, but wasn't this the whole point of the X-Files??).
The Descent (2005)
Brilliant
This film was brilliant. I saw it the first time in a "sneak preview", I therefore had no idea what it was about. Everyone in the cinema was so taken, that they just remained silent throughout the film. It's full of surprises and the actors do everything so well, they really make you feel glad you're in your safe cinema seat and not going through the horror trip with them..I love horror movies, thrillers etc, and this one has got to be the best one I have seen in a long long time. I'm also glad the film ended the way it did, had it been any other way I would have been disappointed. I really recommend that you don't read up anything about the movie before you see it. Just wait and see....
