Turning Red (2022)
Less Adult Oriented than previous versions
Normally don't write reviews but after reading some of the comments about the movie on twitter and also being from Toronto I decided to give it a shot. Bit of a disappointment, previous Pixar movies did a fantastic job and entertaining the kids while keeping the adults fully engaged. This just didn't do it. Felt more like a Saturday morning cartoon than a serious effort by Pixar. Hopefully the next outing will hit home. Oh andI read that online review that everyone trashed, guess I'm just out of touch with current feelings as I saw nothing racist about it.
Hypnotic (2021)
Not quite why so many scathing reviews
An interesting if straightforward premise. Suitable for a dreary afternoon movie. Or to use an old metaphor more direct to video. For what is is and wants to be it's a good movie.
Portal (2019)
Better than Expected
Well normally a 3 star rates movie is just that, but in this case it surprised me, bit wierd bit strange but an enjoyable movie.
Silk Road (2021)
Good story but has issues
This is a tually a good story, entertaining and follows the Silk Road story. Where the movie falls apart is in how they built the characters. Old school cop forced out of division and parked in cybercrimes with the idea that he'll twiddle his thumbs till retirement. He uses old school techniques to catch the founder. The problem is there is so much silliness. 2010 and the cop can't even send an email or even how to use a computer. It's a shame as this is quite a good movie if you can get past the writti g.
Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies (2020)
Very informative but long
The most interesting part was the beginning and the history of the code, once you got into the early mid 60s it got a bit repetitive. At the one hour mark I fast forward to end. I gave in and eight because it is a good and interesting movie at least for the first hour the second half I would rate it about a five. This is quite common with documentaries.
Ride (2018)
More a made for tv movie
A little bit predictable for about half the movie and towards the end it gets better I gave it a seven it's a good enjoyable movie.
The Serpent (2021)
Good but slow at times
It's really well done series the settings and cinematography of life and a hippy trails is really well done.
There were several aspects of it that they never got into how we got the gems where he dispose of the bodies things like that. I also thought that the relationship between the two main characters could've been developed a bit more. We learned more about her than about him
Overall quite an enjoyable series just keep the fast forward button available.
Invasion Earth 2020: The Order of the Black Sock (2019)
Absolutely Brilliant
As others have mentioned this is a Russian movie and I think this is what makes it so interesting. It is also a 6 part series and in this case they simply condensed it into a movie. I've seen both and both are great. Now it is very rare I give it 10 out of 10.
Made You Look: A True Story About Fake Art (2020)
Interesting but slow
It starts off quite promising it's very interesting but it's just a little bit on the long side. About 30 minutes and I started just fast forwarding 10 minutes 10 minutes it would've been a good 60 minute show up but 90 minutes is just too long.
SAS: Red Notice (2021)
Good movie why the low score
I second those questioning the low rating fairly predictable but still enjoyable. Closer to a 6 than a 7.
