Glass (2019)
Glass is (mostly) everything I wanted
Glass is currently at a 37% on rotten tomatoes. I'm not sure why this is besides some of the third act. Otherwise, the ending could have been worse and in my opinion, it works. I just really think people don't want M Night to succeed or admit that he did. To be fair it is the third movie in a franchise, and if you look at it like that, then you'll have a good time.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)
They could have just made this a clique romance, but they didn't
The Perks Of Being a Wallflower takes risks. I was expecting a feel-good film that was sustainable for a mainstream audience and was all about a young boy trying to find his voice in this world. But it wasn't that. This film talks plot points that are hard to talk about all the while making us deeply care for all the characters in the film. And the best part is, it wasn't cheesy.
Wildlife (2018)
Beautiful portrait of family insanity
Wildlife is an emotional rollercoaster with an ending that will truly disturb you. Every actor in this film is great, especially by Carey Mulligan. It could be inconsistent at times, but otherwise, this is awkward, creepy, and overall could be seen as psychological suspense. It will make you cry, scared and overall just flat out depressed at times. But Paul Dano knows what he's doing and I'm excited to see what he can make next.
The Upside (2017)
Fun time, but don't expect anything more
The Upside has flaws, some big and some small. You can defiantly tell that all the actor's in this film were committed. And overall a good time was had.
Green Book (2018)
Phenomenal tale of hope and empowerment
Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen are the heart and soul of this film. Along with the great cinematography and direction. Green Book confronts racism in a way that is relatable, people keeping there mouth shut instead of confronting what is going on the front of them. You know that this is a great film when you just want to punch that racist guy in the face but you know that that's not what the other character would want. In this film, it's not black and white. If a character makes a decision you take into account how the other people will be affected by it.
Escape Room (2019)
Laughable
I went into escape room knowing nothing besides seeing some adds for it. Right off the bat, the characters are all annoying and stupid to put into the simplest terms. To be honest, even the times that I didn't want them to die. 2 minutes later I didn't care. It's like every charter in the movie is so oblivious to what's actually happening. But I can tell you one thing, is a very funny film. But is not meaning to be. The man in front of me was laughing out loud, history. The whole film provides no answers so we will just go buy tickets to the second.
First Man (2018)
First Man is a masterfully shot space epic
First Man is from director Damien Chazelle and is about Neil Armstrongs ( Ryan Ross) mission to land on the moon. But its more than that, it also follows his family life and trying to cope with the loss of his daughter. The cinematography, acting, and direction is beautiful and captivating. I was hooked to my seat throughout the whole film, actually caring about what happens to the characters.
Catch Me If You Can (2002)
Spielberg At His Finest
Catch Me If You Can is truly excellent. The cinematography and direction were near perfect, and the witty dialog and characters make this film one of the most entertaining Spielberg films of all time.
Night School (2018)
Night school is just another below-par Kevin Hart film.
I walked into the theater wanting to enjoy it, since I feel as though Kevin Hart is a very funny comedian and I enjoyed his other films like Central Intelligence, Jumanji, etc. But I walked out of the theater disappointed. The plot, script, and editing are surprising very poor. Kevin Hart is not bad in this film, it just feels like he is playing himself. And after watching almost every one of his films, it gets painfully repetitive
The Hate U Give (2018)
The Hate U Give
The hate you give can only go so far with a script below pare and a wonky execution. There were moments where the plot couldn't figure out what was their main focus. But with the occasional empathic moments, this film entertains (at times) but nothing more.
