Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)
Final Fight makes up for the corny dialogue that leads up to it!
I don't care what anyone says, that final fight was AMAZING. The CGI was top-tier, the emotional moments actually captivated me and gave me the feels, and there was enough danger to where I actually felt scared for the outcome. And the action and triumphant moments were excellently choreographed. I would actually give this entire film a 7.5. I was unsure of the actors for majority of the first and second acts, but well into their journey into Peru and the the entire final act, I was completely sold on them and rooting for the entire cast. This is not a bad movie, stick with it, and you will have an enjoyable night with a entertaining action flick at least and an emotional rollercoaster at most. I had fun with it and that's what matters most to me. You don't always have to twist someone's experience and make it into a political attack. I see this so much on film reviews. If you felt offended by something it doesn't mean that the movie was bad, it just means that you haven't learned to accept that your experience in the world is not everyone else's experience. Be happy, don't be so serious, accept other people, and enjoy this one go on earth we have. Love to you all! (and some of you will still take this in a wrong, negative way, unfortunately.)
The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
I'm just here to explain...
I'm just here to explain... why this episode could be disappointing for some of us, without any bigotry. Because I don't have an ounce of it. And the people that do, I feel their opinions are heavily and negatively skewed. The truth is I loved seeing the story of Bill and Frank. I just *knew* it was leading up to learning why Bill is so angry in present day. Preparing myself emotionally to see them fall in love, see that love slowly dissolve into hate, and then being ripped apart when I saw Frank hanging... Bill dying in the end, throwing away all of those moments that are so special to the game, to the character dynamics, only to get a letter and truck they are probably going to lose 20 minutes into the next episode... I've seen so many game adaptations fail because they took too many creative liberties instead of just honoring the game. The Last of Us is so beloved *because* of the story. They did it right the first time. The last of us is gut wrenching, it's not about finding the positivity at the beginning of your journey, it's about finding it after you've hit absolute rock bottom. The ending made the entire episode nothing but beautiful filler. When we've only got 9 chances to expand the story. Nothing we got from the episode, while amazing storytelling, offered anything to the plot. To The Last of Us. The fact we'll never get the school, Joel upside down in the trap, Bill and Ellie bickering, or the magazine... It just sucks.
The Mitchells vs the Machines (2021)
This movie had everything...
Emotions, A+ humor, crazy action for the kids, a well flowing plot, and true to heart topics and humor for adults. I laughed. I nearly cried. For me, it was a near perfect experience. So I gave it a 10. <3 Mitchell family has my heart!
Christmas on the Bayou (2013)
This movie made me cry!
It is just so sweet. And the romance story is cute and realistic and they have funny banter. The kid in this had such an arc that towards the end I was crying over him when I started out annoyed!
DC Super Hero Girls (2015)
Great show for kids! And cool for adults to see
My kids love this show and I do too! I understand it's for kids and the stories aren't deep. But it's still cool to see such a WIDE variety of characters from the lore. They pull characters from everywhere and it's really cool! My kids are boys, but this show is so good to inspire young girls and friendship. Also, I like this animation style better than the other version of this show.
Beauty & the Beholder (2018)
It has a really good second act. Great message.
Okay. This movie.. It actually really does have a great message. If you are going to watch it, I recommend you ignore pretty much all of the first act. I spent the entire time watching the first 20 minutes or so, rolling my eyes and "ugh"ing. BUT, the second half left me pretty invested in the main characters growth and the love story developing. I wish we had a lot more of this in the movie.
The movie is very very VERY low budget. But I think it was done okay.
Critiques:
I don't think the movie needed the vulgar or soft p**n scenes, it added nothing to the story. I skipped them actually.
I didn't care for the twist at the end. I would have rather the story just went on as it was going.
Other than that, I felt that the main character went from very hated in my mind to rooting for his growth and change. And that's a very good thing. I just wish he would have been better to the people around him. Especially Alana. And that we had more closure than what was given (his addiction, why did he receive the glass, what now for Lana and him?, what are the details of his life now?)
Surprise Me! (2017)
There are cheesy parts, but this is a good film.
Yes, there are cheesy parts but I did find myself laughing quite a few times. There are serious parts, too. I liked how this movie portrayed friendship and family. There were quite a few good messages throughout the movie about relationships, self observation, and grief. I think it's a great movie for women and young women to watch. Or even couples.
I like to watch lesser known or low budget movies and review them because for the ones that are good and worth watching, I want the writers to know they did a good job and to keep going. It wasn't perfect, but I was entertained the whole way. And I left feeling a more introspective. So, great job :)
About Time (2013)
So much more than expected.
This was more than a romance. Actually, the romance was kind of in the background. The story here....WOW. You will feel something if you watch this movie. And it teaches you a valuable life lesson: to appreciate and enjoy your life, your time, every single bit of it. Appreciate the ordinary.
It was truly beautiful.
Life Itself (2018)
Watch this movie.
There is not one emotion that they do not convey in this movie. That you don't feel while watching. It is truly an emotional rollercoaster and beautifully so. There is tragedy and there is love and there is sadness and there is happiness and there is silence and there is laughter. I didn't expect to love this movie as much as I did, five minutes in, but it hooks you as each storyline unfolds. Just like the movie says "if you just go a little farther, you'll find love."
It is filmed wonderfully and the story is written so fantastically that all of the characters have purpose and are easy to attach yourself to and all of the storylines intertwine perfectly. Watch this movie
He's Out There (2018)
Interested the whole way through!
It was a realistic horror and I was interested the whole time. It was never boring. And the kids acted great because that's how scared kids in real life would be. They wouldn't be quiet or stoic or maybe not even brave. And you shouldn't expect 80lb children to be. It's a great thing, if you hate kids that much and are annoyed by their screams, instead of calming them down and protecting them, that you don't ever have children. Good choice. As a mother it had me on the edge of my seat and I was thinking about all the things I would do in that situation. The mom handled it well. There was a slight twist towards the end where I genuinely just felt devastated for them. It was different from a lot of the horror/slasher movies I've seen, in a great way.
Roswell, New Mexico (2019)
GREAT show, politics stop after 1st episode so the downvotes are not warranted.
This is a GOOD show! The characters have great chemistry and the alien-stuff is really interesting. I've teared up and been emotionally invested multiple times now. Don't let the political talk on the first episode deter you. It stops after the first episode and it shouldn't bother you that much anyways. For a lot of people these are real issues that are very personal to them. Try to be more open-minded and show more love instead of hate.)
Same Time, Next Christmas (2019)
One of the better ones for this genre!
As far as Hallmark-y type movies go, and especially holiday ones, this one entertained me! I loved the story and I fell in love with the main characters and their families. The love story felt very realistic in terms of real-life issues coming into play. I gave it an 8 because this is a different scale than Hollywood movies. It is a TV movie of course. And quite a good one.
Last Chance U (2016)
I hate sports...
But I love this show!! I watch this with my husband and it makes him so happy. This is truly a well done and personal show and I get really into it. It's very real and it draws you in. I like getting to know the players and it makes me root for them.
Ratter (2015)
Bandwagon Low Reviewers
All of the low reviews for this movie are most likely bandwagoners who want to seem cool and knock this film because it's a low budget. Indie film and doesn't have a lot of action. This is a PSYCHOLOGICAL movie and mind you, very creepy. It plays on a lot of our's worst fear, an intruder in our home, especially at night while we are sleeping. Or someone watching our every move. Ashley Benson also does a great job with her realistic portrayal of a girl who's just moved to another state to live on her own and doing some questionable and/or embarrassing things while alone, thinking no one is watching. And the ending, holy crap, I got chills all over my body, its so unexpected and scary and seems so real. This isn't nearly the best movie I've ever seen but I was glued to the screen, and I'm not afraid to say that, because they brought the creep factor and I was definitely paranoid after watching. If you scroll down you can see a lot of people rate this movie really well, before all these low ratings of "1" grouped together following each other like sheep. Come on, be realistic, this movie deserves much more than a 1. That is beyond exaggeration. I think if you like thrillers like this, you'll be in for a treat!
