Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Gotham City in the sunshine
Fun fights throughout. Gotham is always dark, cold, raining or snowing. Not here. Everyday is a warm sunny day in Gotham apparently. That pissed me off. I love Harley Quinn, though, so it gets **** stars.
VFW (2019)
VFW
I spent a lot of time in my dads VFW in the late 80's-Early 90's as a kid, and they killed it as far as creating a veitnam era vfw. I love horror films, and this one is fun! The 11 minutes of opening credits SUCKS, though. Hate that... It gets better, believe me. A good cheap date.
The Ritual (2017)
A Wendigo hunts some dudes.
Pretty good wendigo tale of terror. The final act was a bit dissapointing do to the very well done first two acts. A bit of a blair witch feel. Well done.
The Stepfather (1987)
6.8 on IMDb... Huh, wrong!
This is NOT an almost 7 out of ten movie. Not even for just 80's movie standards. It is worth watching, if you love film and just watch anything because of that. But, not if you want to believe this all takes place in the real world and want the main character to be believable. Nothing good happens until 80 minutes in. It is a four out of ten movie. Nothing more, nothing less.
Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013)
A horror movie.
As far as the plot goes; basically rubbish. As far as the terror/horror goes? Pretty damn great! When the kids get to the house the first few jumps, thrills, and kills are awesome. I personally love when a horror movie puts me on edge a bit. Tons of gore n blood. Two super sexy chicks. It is a good horror flick and any fan of the genre should definitely give it a go. Also, leatherface is awesome. Why wouldn't a TCM fan want to see him chopping up people? That is what it is all about.
Platoon (1986)
One of tje greatest of all time...
This is a "movie" that any semi-pro critic should call a masterpiece of a film. The score; "Adagio on strings" by Samuel Barber is one of the top 4 greatest scores of all time. And, the moment the song climax's to is the most darmatic moment in the history of film (to me). Sound and film as never been better used... notable films include "Jaws" and the "Godfather"... "Platoon" is a must see and top (of all time) film that will NEVER be overlooked by folks who care and know good cinema. My only 10* rated film on IMBD.
Parents (1989)
Awesome
This film is fantastic! Watch it. Some truly great camera work from begining to end. And, a lovely little story about suburban cannibalism.
Alien: Covenant (2017)
Blomkamp should have made this film
I fell asleep twice at the cinema. Just gave her another go. I think it is safe to say at this point that Neil Blomkamp is on a defferent planet from R. Scott when it comes to sifi movie making and story telling at this moment in time. This film has a few good scenes, but overall misses the landing. I would have rather seen this film be prometheus ii. Dissapointing, indeed. Still worthy of watching. The visuals are ...good. Xenomorphs looked great. That is the only reason I give it 5 star rating. Zero tention. Zero feelings of terror.
Halloween (2018)
The shape returns!
Laurie and the Shape meet again. But, before their 40 year long reunion mr. Myers lays down a few bad ass kills. Also, the score was fantastic. Dont listen to the "critics" that think its a film to sleep on. If you are a fan of the Halloween series even with all the ups and downs and plot holes and all, then you will enjoy this film. In the repspect of it being a follow-up to the original 2. A proper sequel, indeed.
Tonight She Comes (2016)
Fresh
If you love 80's horror, this film delivers.
Including a plot that ... well, doesn't really exist or at least doesn't explain much at all. A bit of a throwback to the glory days of horror. Most notable area for praise; the score.
