Snatch (2000)
7/10
You want a laugh riot- you got it with Snatch
11 October 2018
Snatch is an ensemble underground comedy which will leave you in splits. Starring a host of independent and mainstream(Brad Pitt) actors this British film is filled with humor- an absolute laugh riot with some amazing dialogues that will have you rolling and characters you will remember for months. Rooted in the London Underworld Snatch is about a stolen diamond and believe it or not- boxing. How these two come together is for you to see and judge. Great performances, tidy flow and expert direction makes Snatch a must watch.

Before Sunset (2004)
7/10
One of the most artistically romantic movies ever
21 September 2018
Richard Linklater is probably one of the few young directors working today who can be called an artist and watching this film you can understand why. This is a sequel to Before Sunrise and what one notices at first is that the filmmakers actually waited for the characters to grow older in real time so that now we meet Jesse and Celine they have actually aged, which makes their dialogues and relationship all the more relatable. Both Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy have no problem going back to their older roles and it is refreshing to see them talk and act naturally- they have great chemistry. Do watch this if you enjoy realistic romantic films.

Ford and Pfieffer ham it in this lackluster horror
4 September 2018
Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfieffer are a couple in a beautiful house haunted by a ghost. Bob Zemeckis is a great director but this is one of his lesser efforts. There is nothing really wrong with the film except looking at the marquee names one would have expected more. It has ghosts, jump scares and spooky music- even great locations but it is better suited as a film made by a first time director not the guy who made Back to the future or Contact. Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfieffer add allure to the star cast but you can clearly see by their motions they are pondering on when the cheque will clear.

Heat (1995)
8/10
Great mid 90s action
24 July 2018
Michael Mann's Heat brings together both De Niro and Pacino. As if this in itself wasn't enough to warrant a watch it contains some of the finest gun shootouts ever committed to film. The bank robbery scene inspired a real robbery and even the opener of The Dark Knight(as confirmed by Nolan). This is Michael Mans's Los Angeles- incredibly stylish full of thieves and mules wearing suits and ray bans. The film's status has only grown with time and it represents the apogee of action films, in my opinion. Although overlong the pacing is excellent and you can't help but be engrossed. Watch it for Michael Mann- one of the most underrated filmmakers out there.

Mr. Nobody (2009)
7/10
An underrated, if a tad bit overlong science fiction movie
5 July 2018
Mr. Nobody is a strange movie. And I mean that in a complimentary way. It is a bizarre piece of science fiction involving mental illness, time travel and the concept of life and death. What makes it even more spectacular is that is it stunning to look at- seriously one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. Jared leto has a knack of picking offbeat scripts and he s bang on the money in choosing this one. What can I say...I think you should give this film a choice but beware that it is a bit heavy handed and clocking in at 2 and a half hours quite long to boot. However, for those who enjoy an offbeat tale this is a great 2 and a half hours of escapism into a fantasy land.

The Player (1992)
8/10
Robert Altman's most widely known film
23 June 2018
One of Robert Altman's finest films featuring one of the best tracking shots ever put on film- The shot which begins the movie was a homage to Orson Welles but became legendary in its own right. Tim Robbins plays a Hollywood Executive who gets embroiled in a seedy murder case involving a scriptwriters murder. Featuring the ethereally gorgeous Greta Scacchi and some cool cameos this is one film you must watch if you like movies made about the seedy town they call Hollywood.
