Cringe comedy
16 May 2021
The characters are unbelievable and, frankly, annoying. Their actions are only motivated to create these awkward and embarrassing comedy storylines which start and get resolved in each episode.

And the idea is good, a slice of life comedy in the archipelago of Stockholm, showcasing relatable situations like dealing with neighbours and living with family. But the way the characters act is exhausting to watch. They lie, over react and do the dumbest things. For example "oh we accidentally drank my father's 50 year old wine which he was saving for his 75th birthday? The only logic thing to do now is stage a burglary". The situations which are meant to be funny just feel forced as the characters has to bend over backwards to enable these events to happen.

The actors are okay, I suppose. The main cast are usually okay but it isn't uncommon for the minor roles are weird and awkward. And that is an issue which is consistent throughout the show, it is hard to tell if it is the actors who are being weird or if the characters are meant to be this way.

The scenery however is beautiful. The nature is fantastic and they do a good job capturing it. The interior is also splendid and helps in building the characters as their personality is mirrored in the interior of the homes of the characters. The lightning is usually good, with some exceptions like a scene filmed at night without any light sources which makes it difficult to follow the characters in the scene.

Personally I am not a fan of comedy which relies on making the viewer feel second-hand embarrassment and rarely think it is executed well, in this show I don't think it is executed well. Personally I would love to never see another episode of this series and hopefully I won't have to. I haven't watched all seasons, nor an entire season and I an not plan on doing so. I have watched random episodes from all seasons and my mind is made up, this series is not for me.

The quality has a lot of ups and downs, just like the cage

Warning: Spoilers
47 Meters Down is both good and bad. The looks of it are good but the story really makes the grade sink (pun intended). It lacks actual facts in it's script though, making actual divers shake their head and making the rest of us question what life is.

The story is pretty thin. It's pretty clear they want to get out on the sea and to the actual premise of the story, actual motifs are just thrown in. It could have been presented like Kate really wants to do the shark dive while Lisa is way more hesitant and Kate could say "But you will join me on the boat right? You don't have to do the dive but I want you there with me". One of the two guys telling them about it/brining them along could just say "Hey I have a friend/brother/aunt's best friend who can join us for the dive!" (just evening out the numbers) and then have the tagalong friend/brother/aunt's best friend get seasick and then have Lisa join in for the dive just so Kate don't have to go alone. Just a thought though.

Cinematically speaking I would say it looks good tough. It has good lightning, contrary to what it actually should be like, I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure it would be pretty darn dark 47 meters below the water surface. But aesthetically speaking the lightning is good, the sound is good and well the sharks are frighting. The actors are good and you do believe to a point that Kate and Lisa are fearing for their lives, because sharks attacking and not knowing if you will die is something most people would fear.

On the other hand as many others have pointed out, the factual errors really ruin it. For how long the tanks will last and so on and so forth. There is one point where I can accept these errors being made and that is during the scene which turns out to be Lisa hallucinating. I mean since Kate, who is an actually certified diver passed away, I will accept Lisa's mind making things up such as it being okay that they do not decompress for long enough. Lisa is not a certified diver and the things which happen during this specific scene are made up out of things she learned from Kate and Captain Taylor, but she learned far for everything and therefor I will accept that there are factual errors in this particular scene since it just adds to the surreal aspect of the hallucinating.

In conclusion, would I recommend this movie to a friend? Eh, maybe. It depends, if you want an actual horror movie I probably would not recommend this movie in particular, it's more adventure and drama than horror. Of course it depends, I have a fear of deep waters and for me it did made me feel incredibly uneasy thinking about their situation. It's not really that much of a horror flick though if you are not scared of sharks or deep water. Do you want drama and adventure, then watch this movie! If you want horror or you are interested in diving, then don't.

An interesting portrayal of a young serial killers life
10 June 2018
I would personally not call this a horror movie, more of a drama and biographic movie, but with quite a lot of suspense. I watched the movie before I read the graphic novel but I was mesmerized on how accurate the book was transformed into the movie, mainly with locations and the personalities of the characters.

Most of the characters are well developed both in the book and the movie, the problems are a few characters in the movie which are just thrown in, they don't really fill a purpose, only taking attention from the actually important characters and the storyline. Of course theses characters with no follow ups could be a product of the modern days director's fear of making movies too long but rather a well developed story which are a few minutes longer than a short movie with a chopped up story.

The look of the movie is exceptional though. I really enjoyed the 70's aesthetic of the movie, with a few exceptions such as the pen and car mistakes which are mentioned in Goofs part in the Did You Know? section here on IMDb. But the over all look is really, really great. The sound was very well mixed and the lightning was for the most parts really well lit and suited the scene, on a few occasions the scenes were a bit dark but also had many scenes with really great lightning.

The characters are, as mentioned earlier, for the most part really well developed. The main characters are amazingly portrayed by the actors and they do a really good job at transferring the characters in the book into the movie. On of the scenes which struck me the most is the scene when Dahmer and Dave are watching TV. And their personalities are very well mirrored in their movements and facial expressions.

Over all I would definitely recommend this movie to someone who would be interested in the back story of Jeffrey Dahmer's cruel crimes. I would recommend the graphic novel over the movie though to someone who is interested in a story which values the actual occurrences rather than a story which values entertainment. The movie is still following the graphic novel pretty closely though, it is a good movie but it is not a horror movie.
