Stalker (1979)
Very artsy, original version of the Annihilation 2018 movie
Very artsy with people playing pretend around poison garbage. The story line had a great sci fi concept but felt like the stalker was just a crazy guy playing pretend while walking around hallways full of garbage. At the same time it was a cinematic masterpiece and thought provoking. The movie Annihilation (2018) was a modern adaption of the sci fi elements, the scene with the two dead bodies and plant growing from them grew into the Annihilation movie in the future.
Ansisung (2018)
The Tang general clearly never played any of the Stronghold PC games...
The Tang general clearly never played any of the Stronghold PC games...
Epic siege movie with some good thematic elements at play and interesting characters.
The tang dynasty general used trebuchets for a day then quit, maybe he should of used those the entire time?
I feel sad for the poor Tang invaders, they tried so hard!
The Veil (2017)
The visual theme of the stuff at the end is the only good part.
The visual theme at the end has a strange post apocalyptic/aztec/japanese/gothic theme and is really cool. Nothing else really makes sense in this movie.
Midsommar (2019)
A dark comedy that provides you with the correct process to have a sense of completion
A break up movie that leaves the watcher with a sense of completion. We all have things we need to get over and cut ties with, this brings you through the correct process and experience to achieve this. Its a dark comedy that has some disturbing scenes and conveys a wide range of emotions, a trip for sure. It made me laugh several times and is not the horror movie the advertisements made it out to be. Well done!
As a side note, I have been to Sweden and have experienced 20 hours of daylight and noticed many things from the film there at a lake camp so it had a personal touch to me.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
I know its good becuase I felt it, thats how you know its real...
Good story
Good plot twists
Good visual images
Going to see it again
Warrioress (2013)
Good fight scenes carry the movie
Pros:
The fight scenes are good and the actors actually know martial arts.
The story line and concept are really good.
Shes short and probably would beat you in a fight, makes for a unique character.
Cons:
The acting is sometimes bad and laughable which still provides entertainment.
The budget is low and it often shows, but a bit of imagination holds it together.
Better establishing shots could be used for the scene with CGI at the evil dudes base.
Also, wheres the ending? Did the budget run out or a sequel was planned but not made?
Mortal Engines (2018)
Mortal Engines = Star Wars and Lord of the Rings attack The Great Wall movie
I saw this in theaters and I was entertained, great visuals and very creative, I feel like much was left out in the editing and its difficult to condense so many sub plots into one movie. A very abstract concept and I would love to see an extended version.
Ursinho da Pesada (2008)
Mutant creatures gamble on fights in a post apocalyptic future.
Horribly deformed mutant creatures gamble on fights in a post apocalyptic future. After World War 3 devastated the world with nuclear hellfire, society was born anew as mankind's DNA mutated and the result was horrendous looking bear creatures.
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997)
Raidens acting was top notch, I saw this in theatres as a child!
This is entertaining and the girls have nice tight fitting costumes!
The actor who played Raiden carried the film in terms of acting, good job.
Everything else was of questionable skill level but was greatly entertaining.
Some special effects have aged badly (poorly done green screen) but adds to the entertainment value even more!
Motaro the centaur-man was in it and so was Baraka! (and Shiva too, ewwww)
The animal transformation CGI at the end was awful, looked like a Playstation 2 game.
Worth then entertainment!
Conan the Barbarian (1982)
Words need not be spoken. I would give this 11 stars if I could
Music: 11/10
Story: 11/10
Conans' Dialogue: 11/10
Barbarian Action: 9,000/10
Conan hears the silence of Croms unanswered prayers.
The 100 (2014)
Half Sci-Fi half Mad Max.
Half Sci-Fi half Mad Max.
This show is good, quality of episodes can vary. Gets better as the seasons progress!
From season to season the characters alliances seem to change for no reason, just so the writes can have new drama.
Vercingétorix (2001)
After a few beers, this movie made perfect sense to me!
Beer is required to lower your judgement so you are more likely to accept things, and coffee is needed to keep you awake for the 2 hours it takes to complete this.
I like the Gauls, and I liked the costumes and visual look of the movie, but the editing was terrible. Maybe adding in a narrator or some historical description of whats happening?
I'm not sure how it took 2 hours as there were some generic battles and plot things with the Gauls, Romans, and Teutons or something.
The weakness of the Roman army is boobies and uncooked food. The end.
Bloodsport III (1996)
Alex is the love child of Sean Connery and Van Damn and knows random street hookers on a first name basis...
Alex is the love child of Sean Connery and Van Damn, a casino gambling agent who fights in random Kumite tournaments and has mystical powers.
Some ninjas try to rob a casino with just knives and swords, and are easily defeated by our hero Alex, bring a gun next time?
Then a redhead in a blue dress sings to him at a bar
He then goes on some mini Quests for experience points to level up by fighting generic ninjas for some diamonds, then fighting some crime guys in an antique shop...
He then goes to various dinner parties and claims that he doesn't fight anymore (liar) even though he fought earlier...
He then wanders the streets and seems to know random street hookers on a first name basis...
A smoke bomb in the phone goes off and somehow knocks people over?
The master is dead and I already forgot his name...
Alex gets played like a deck of cards!
The iron hand can heal with magic which is totally real because I can do it too!
He then trains with some random master guy and flirts with his niece through various training montages while getting shot at with arrows, similar to Dodge Ball "if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball" except its "If you can dodge an arrow, you can dodge an effort to make a better plot"
The bad guy who originally wanted him to fight now doesn't want him to fight... woahhh ! M. Night Shyamalan plot twist?
More random training montages where he makes dumb noises with ropes then catches an arrow, but doesn't catch the opportunity to bang that guys daughter or whatever in the bath house. She then tells him "your like a brother to me" what kind of messed up family is this?
Beats up some random guys and doesn't even bother calling the police
More training montages with random dangerous nonsense... and hes ready to fight the Beast!
With his training complete, he decides to go to an opium den? and of course fights again...
Random Kumite starts in India or something...
His son is terrible at chopping fire wood but alex then shares his secret fire bending powers and can start fires with his mind.
In the tournament some guy uses a whip which is somehow allowed?
The beast is basically like the Mountain from GOT, I feel like he needs an eye patch or a scarred face, but all we get is a mustache.
In some fights, the bad guys teleport around the stage due to the editing and filming.
Final fight! The BEAST! Lets face it, we all knew Alex was going to win.
The ending music is so 90s its painful, Cheerful hip hop version of Mortal Kombat.
And that's how Alex didn't teach his son to chop lumber properly. The end.
Bloodsport 2 (1996)
Its like Mortal Kombat but without the costumes
This is basically a realistic documentary on the totally real Kumite that totally happened in real life! wow! basically its like Mortal Kombat but without the costumes...
Actors:
Although it doesn't have the classic fued between Van Damn and Bolo Yeung, it does have Donald Gibb. The new guy Daniel Bernhardt does a good job.
Fight Scenes:
The fights are well done and the actors are athletic.
Music:
Sounds somewhere in between Mortal Kombat and salsa dancing music.
Philosophy: To own something one must earn it, not steal it...or maybe both?
Conclusive Thoughts:
The characters are not as interesting, one guy had clown style makeup on while fighting the first female warrior allowed in the tournament. The fight scenes with the generic fighters combined with the Mortal Kombat Salsa music worked well together. A backstory for some of the tournament fighters would make it more interesting and would add some plot depth.
