Emesis Blue (2023)
Use what You Have, and Blend Great Ideas
Emesis Blue is probably the best 'movie' to work best with what it has, it had TF2 and SFM to use, yet, they used them to their maximum and created a disturbing masterpiece with a great concept and a great execution.
Not everyone will appreciate the way the movie tells its story, but being able to use the original materials that this movie is can make great use of is certainly impressive on its own.
Many subtle storytelling and deep meanings here and there but who knows what secrets are there to find?
Simply put, this movie takes ideas from the source material, uses the tools the source was built in, and utilizes them to a much grander scale.
Murder Drones: Dead End (2023)
Best Episode so Far
No longer does it suffer from issues that Episode 5 had but it is pretty clear they have the right ideas this time.
This is overall a perfect formula for an Episode, regular humor in-between, yet, the action is there enough. There are enough big stakes and stomach-knitting moments to get the viewer hooked.
This may be the best Episode this series can offer, and perhaps there's more to offer in this line of work.
Either way, this is a formula that works and there's obviously some issues still need of ironing out but this is a sign that they do know how to fix a bunch of them and represent a new formula in a different way.
Murder Drones: Home (2023)
Great lore pool for Murder Drones fans but generally decent
Home offers lots of lore and explains many of the mysteries that surrounded the plot.
Of course, it's fair that some will be left with more questions than answers, this is the weakest episode of Murder Drones so far because this is where most of the prominent issues of the series show more often.
The humor is too fourth-wall breaking and too overdone that none of them hit well, it was great at first glance but the same tricks don't work as much.
The animation is generally high-tier in its leagues, there are obviously some issues that can be worked out but nonetheless, pretty great.
Home is a great episode for Murder Drones fans, but the issues that this episode has is too hard to ignore, the best kind of option for this series to move forward is to just stay refreshing without overusing the same old same old.
Murder Drones (2021)
Great Indie Animation, with a few issues...
Murder Drones is something I respect, it's great that indie animation is going on higher leagues this year and Murder Drones is a solid contender.
Murder Drones is a great combination of genres, the dedication and soul can really be seen in the quality of the animation.
Its weakest element is how it handles its humor, Murder Drones throws too many meta jokes that none hit well, it eventually bodes the meta humor to the point where they feel forced.
While the story is solid - even with some pacing issues, it's nice to see that it's great because the team put soul and dedication to this project.
It's not a masterpiece but it is great as an original project and it's a good example for what original indie animation should be.
Spooky Month (2018)
A passionate Newgrounds celebration
This Newgrounds free web-series has great charm and humor on its central theme, Halloween.
The world-building is also pretty nice, it's not underwhelming or oversaturated; but the way the other characters look dead and bland while our two main protagonists ignore all of that is certainly a nice mix to bring in lots of 'dumb funny' situations and gags.
It's certainly a fun series even with the new inclusion of lore going around and it's a nice Halloween holiday tradition to celebrate the memes that this series can generate.
It's a great Newgrounds series to celebrate Halloween and it is no wonder why this series is well-known in the animation community.
CoComelon (2018)
Great for toddlers but many issues
Even though I'm not the target audience for this show, that doesn't mean it can't be judged by older people.
Cocomelon is an annoying recycled content purely made just to grab the ad revenue from the cheapest budgets. Some young kids will find the fun in this but not for me.
That doesn't mean that you shouldn't watch these YouTube videos, it's something to have your toddler get addicted to and have your kid get distracted for half an hour or two.
It's easy to hate Cocomelon but normally it's best to just let this thing go unhinged and try to avoid it as much as possible.
It's nothing surprising to find a low rating for this kind of movie and whether you would want your kid to watch to is subjective depending on what you want for them, but it just doesn't offer much and it will likely continue that way.
Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (2023)
Good Movie despite Issues
It may seem unfair to judge the movie only on its negatives and call it a bad movie, you can't really ignore the issues but there's a lot to salvage of this rather troubled movie, but has some redeemable qualities.
The animation is charming; if not, fine, it may seem bland but there is still some decency to at least establish an identity here with the Krakens' squishy style and the main character Ruby looks adorable here.
Apart from some okay dialogue, Lana Condor fits Ruby really well, it does seem like everyone had fun playing their part.
The story may be one of the biggest issues of the movie, while the movie is generally fine for the most part, there is one specific overarching part that undermines it whole, otherwise, it's pretty decent for the most part.
Overall, the movie is acceptable as a DreamWorks movie and you'll have a pleasant time enjoying it, it's not hard to notice the issues on first watch but it isn't that bad.
Rango (2011)
A Timeless 2010s Movie
It's one of those movies that will appeal to everyone in the room.
The animation style, while although seemingly too realistic. It's a style that just decides to venture extremely far than traditional hyper-realistic animation, resulting in a live-action style but still satisfying to see each frame of the movie.
While the story doesn't really offer much anything new, it's a relic that you want to see in a Wild West movie even though it doesn't do anything extraordinary.
But it's so incredibly symbolic too, it has so many meaningful things that you might miss on first watch; and then appreciate that you've missed them because the production team was talented at hiding them.
Skinamarink (2022)
Great execution, overstayed welcome
Skinamarink tries to be disturbing and it really did, but it overstayed its welcome and would've made great for a 30 minute short-film as well.
The overall story sounds pretty appropriate with a 30-40 something minute runtime, the story becomes pretty dull quickly and is too blindly focused on making the viewer uncomfortable but the movie chooses a poor way by making lots of fillers.
The concept is overall massively great and is innovative, but the final product feels unfinished. But you can do something better with this concept.
This is a pretty great movie that shoots itself in the head blindly, however, you can do something great with this kind of concept. You just need to optimize it.
The Boss Baby: Family Business (2021)
Unsurprising mediocre movie
When it comes to mediocre franchises, I'm certainly not surprised that this movie doesn't really offer much.
Despite its great casting and animation style, those two doesn't excuse this movie from being overall 'mediocre'.
The biggest bad factor is pretty much the setting of the story, did we need to see Tim (James Marsden) and Ted (Alec Baldwin) as adults? We pretty much didn't really ask for that and the movie isn't trying too hard to set that fact as the movie just reverts them back into younger selves apparently for the plot.
I feel like the movie is more at best when it comes to the female children Tabitha (Ariana Greenblatt) and Tina (Amy Sedaris), it seemed like overlooked potential to just focus more on them instead of the brothers, which may generate some unique direction to have an entirely different lead role instead of undoing the brothers' relationships.
The Boss Baby: Back in the Crib (2022)
A DreamWorks average for young kids to enjoy
Although I am not really the intended audience for this series, it doesn't really try to be the greatest series of all time.
Every aspect of this animated series is pretty much your average in a DreamWorks Television production. There isn't much to expect in this series as there's not anything groundbreaking or extraordinary, there are always some mishaps to complain about in this series.
It's a fine continuation if you're a fan of The Boss Baby. Given the fact that The Boss Baby is somewhat a mediocre franchise to me, it's not surprising to know that this series has the same amount of quality level to me.
Sonic Prime (2022)
The right Sonic levels
While it is not the best Sonic you've seen in years, whether you prefer the dark and edgy tone of Adventures 2, the comedy of the Colors era, the nostalgia of Unleashed, or the serious tone of Frontiers (...eh sure, Forces kind of counts but was executed poorly)
Sonic Prime has everything for Sonic fans, it is fast-paced, comedic at times, and it has all the things each generation of Sonic fans. (no pun intended)
It's fun to those even those not familiar to the IP. It's also serves as a great introduction to Sonic and his legacy, the familiarity of the characters is enough to make you feel like they're pals you'd want to be friends with.
