Rightways Down (2017)
A flawed, but gut-wrenching crime movie that deals with the horrors outside our houses
Don't expect this to makes sense on the first sitting, because the movie burdens the viewer with a ton of information, regardless of the long run-time of around 3 hours. If you got the time to divulge through both the subtle and blaring messages however, then you're in for a treat because this movie exposes the gritty atmosphere of California that you don't see in other movies or tv shows; these people aren't heroes, but they're dynamic humans like us, with most characters providing sentiment moments, despite their methods of business. Even with plot holes and some poor acting sequences, the movie is engaging due to its relevance to social and economical issues that we could relate to to some extent. I recommend it due to the message and fresh perspective it provides the viewer, despite the films shortcomings in certain areas.
Children's Games (2016)
A recipe for how to make a great independent film
From the opening scene at a ambiguous restaurant to a final confrontation in the plains, this movie had it all; scenes that made me terrified, parts that made me laugh, and even times that made me want to shed a tear. The visual aspects of the camera shots created a lucid imagery of the theme of the movie and each line of dialogue seemed to carry significant weight around them. I recommend this movie to anyone trying to get into the indie movie scene to watch.
