Seconds from Disaster (2004)
Interesting history stories, but...
I just watched the episode about the sinking of the German battleship Bismark and was moderately dismayed at the background audio effects. Most of the time, when Morse Code was used as background, the message was SOS (distress call), repeated over and over. And the effect for radar scanning was actually the sound made by scanning with sonar.
I'm generally a big fan of history documentaries, but getting the small details wrong makes me wonder if they got some of the big ones wrong, too.
Instinct: Heartless (2018)
Don't Let Real Life Ruin the Suspense
I generally like this show, especially for the banter and byplay among the characters, but I have a criticism of the "Heartless" episode (S1, E5).
Early in the show, Lizzie and Dylan were interviewing the father of the presumed murder victim in a sushi restaurant and the restaurant chef was seen in the background, in a wide shot. At which time, I remarked to my wife, that he was a well-known actor, James Saito. And the mystery was now solved. Even though his character was ignored throughout almost all of the episode, it was obvious that he was the killer. You can't put a famous actor in the role of a supposed extra, only to have him revealed in the end as the perpetrator of the crime.
