The Blacklist (2013)
its bad
Even spader could not save this one..
This show is one of those sad examples of how you can spens tons of money on a production and still have a result that feels terrible and cheap.. Nothing about it is believable and the whole show stinks of this 'amatuer production' vibe..
Could not for the life of me get through episode 1
The Eric Andre Show (2012)
The best thing that has ever been made ever?
I would say that this is at least like the best comedy thing that has ever been made ever.. The unimaginable absurdity that constantly flows from the brains of Eric and Hannibal, the way that they constantly fool celebrities and troll them into a shocked and traumatic state, the ridiculousness of the stuff that they film out in the streets, and the random incoherent way in which it is all edited into a show.. it's just some of the most perfect, flawless comedic brilliance that a human mind can possibly conceive.. Watching the Eric Andre show really is like being hit by a suicide bomber of comedy, and once you start to feel like your'e fully getting an idea of what the show is actually about it just becomes funnier and funnier, as you understand more and more how it's not actually about anything, as literally anything can happen in this unexpected universe of madness that adult swim has allowed Eric Andre to build for us all..
I would honestly say that this is better than any sitcom, any movie, any other show\book\stand-up routine or anything else, literally nothing can make me laugh as hard as I do when I watch bits from the Eric Andre show.
Band of Brothers (2001)
Amazing.
An amazing depiction of real experiences that happened to some of the men who saved the world from evil. It really shows you first hand what it was like to go through some of the worst stages of the worst war in history. These men and men like them in the Soviet union, Great Britain and all the other allied nations, are the very reason we can all live our lives in freedom and peace. This masterpiece is an honorable salute to their heroism.
Hotaru no haka (1988)
Saddest movie ever made.
This is much more than a story about civilian life in the war ravaged japan of 1944. This is a rough, emotional, gut wrenching tear jerking movie about pride, innocence, nationalism, and the nature of mankind.
You will see a realistic depiction of what life was like in japan in the climax of WW2, but more importantly, you will see something in this movie that you never get in your standard war movies, a genre of cinema usually full of action packed films with stories of glorious heroism, good prevailing against evil etc.. In this movie you get to see what war time is really like, not from the eyes of soldiers who bravely fight and die to defend their homelands and their ideals, but from the viewpoint of helpless civilians, specifically two innocent children, caught in the middle of one of the worst situations of human history, in a cruel, cold, hopeless reality where countless innocent, defenseless women and children are left to fend for themselves, brutally massacred by Napalm bombardments (by the good guys mind you) in a world where nobody cares about them and nobody ever comes to their aid. And this is why this movie is so important- because it depicts war as what it truly is - a true hell, in all its tragic horror and twisted pointlessness.
You will be overwhelmed by the unbelievably sad story line, you WILL cry your eyes out like a child, you will never want to see this movie ever again afterwards, but you will take to heart an extremely important lesson about war that you will never ever forget for as long as you live.
If somehow every person on the planet saw this film our world would have been a much better place to live in.
Honest 10 stars.
Skyline (2010)
This is the worst movie i have ever seen
I saw this when it came out, and i was just truly and utterly shocked by how amazingly bad it was. I can hardly remember the details of it after all these years (thank god), but i remember very well what made the movie fail so gloriously- the premise of the story (only revealed at the ending) is just remarkably idiotic, the movie is very drawn out and repetitive, all taking place in or on that stupid apartment building, the CGI is.... "eh", the design of the alien crafts is completely generic and without imagination, and their whole alien apocalypse thing just feels very labored, drawn out, uninspired and dumb.. really felt like an amateur movie, me and my friends were just amazed by how bad it was and while we were leaving the cinema we just had to tell any stranger coming in and passing by us to NOT GO SEE SKYLINE, just for the chance of saving another soul from wasting money and suffering through this awful crappy movie...
I'm sorry for the producers but i really REALLY hated this film..
Belyy tigr (2012)
An absolutely fantastic film that requires thought
On first viewing, Belyy tiger appears to be a simple attempted mix of a war story and a ghost tale. The movie is extremely well done, but when you first watch it, the ending does feel like an unresolved dead end that does not satisfy the questions that are formed throughout the plot.
But after dedicating some thought to the symbolic meaning behind the story and understanding some of the messages passed in the plot, i couldn't help watching it a second time, and then a third time and a fourth time, just to relive it from that informed perspective that enabled me to change my focus to look deeper at all the hints and clues that reveal what the story is actually about, rather than just taking in the plot at face value.
This isn't a movie that aims to be historically accurate or realistic, but rather it's a fictional tale with a strong symbolic message about humanity, passed in the proper context of the greatest war of all times.
The simplest explanation i can give without spoiling it is that it uses world war 2 as an example to make a statement about the eternal struggle between the forces of good and evil within our civilization, and in many ways i think it's also a tribute to the heroism of allied troops in WW2, using the particular example of a soviet tank crewman.
It really is an outstanding film, and cryptic symbolism aside, it's also an incredibly real and beautifully done war movie, the actors are wonderful, the music is phenomenal, the locations are perfect, and it's one of the very few authentic feeling WW2 movies, with actual tanks, battlefields, soldiers and environments that all look and feel like they really came straight out of 1943.
Don't expect a standard action packed war movie with this one, but rather an artistic depiction of a fictional mystery story that takes place in the russian\german front in WW2, and be mindful to look for the meaning and the message behind it when you get to the end.
I can honestly say that despite not being a historically accurate or realistic movie (like i usually enjoy), it is still one of the best WW2 movies i have ever seen (and iv'e really seen a lot), and i honestly do prefer it to other high budget "realistic" films like Fury and other ones..
Honest 10 stars.
