True Detective (2014– )

Every season was intriguing, even season 4.

I'm not really certain what all the fuss was about regarding season four, but it was also very good, as were seasons 1-3. Perhaps it was the sci-fi element. I was completely immersed, as sci-fi is a genre that I enjoy as well. Great story line, great acting, and great ending. Season 4 was a departure from the other 3 seasons in some ways, yet that didn't interfere with my enjoyment of it. I read some of the reviews before watching, so I was braced for something a bit different from the others. Perhaps that helped me to ready my mind for something new. It was helpful, at any rate, and I did enjoy it very much.

Each season had its own story, which was extremely compelling, and entertaining. So happy that this series didn't start off excellent, then end up being a big disappointment. After all of the bad reviews season 4 received, I must say I was extremely surprised, and relieved, that it didn't disappoint. I enjoyed them all, and I have noting but great things to say about the entire series. I recommend you watch before writing it off, particularly if you appreciate a bit of sci-fi.

Cobweb (2023)

Squandered.

The movie was very interesting, with a promising ending that did not deliver. I wouldn't say that this was a waste of time, because a good deal of suspense is there, but it is lacking a fully developed resolute ending, which I found to be quite disappointing. The very last bitter end part of the movie, they could have kept, as it was so unbelievable. Why in the world anyone would give this more than a five is beyond me. There is decent acting on the part of the main characters, with the "sister" being the exception. It's only the last 30 seconds of it that sank the movie, wasting all of that great acting.

Kindred (2022)

Surprisingly Good Show

I give this film an A. Expertly developed storyline!

The plot thinckens! I didn't realize there would be a season 2. Hope it's not cancelled, as I must see what happens next! I was vested in this series from the first minute of the initial episode. This film delivers, like I never imagined.

The lead plays her character brilliantly! I was a little iffy on Tom, but he grew on me, and I just love his character. The aunt and uncle add to the suspense. The "massa" character is a little slow, yet just when you think he's fooled he catches on, and leaves you on pins and needles. This is must see TV!

Queen & Slim (2019)

Outstanding Film!

Deeply emotional, and moving. Great performances by the leads in this film. I was very pleased with how well this movie ebbed and flowed. The building of the relationship between the two leads was fascinating. The sort of Bonnie & Clyde vibe was also eye-catching. Watching the characters be transformed was amazing! I was totally immersed in this movie. I believed them, and could utterly feel what they were going through, and I was rooting for them throughout the film. I adored the Louisiana setting, and throw-back vibe. It's also a tear-jerker, so prepare yourself to be touched by the climax. A++

Vendetta (I) (2022)

Not too bad.

Not as bad as I imagined it to be after reading some of the reviews.

The character, "Dante" the car thief, was surprisingly hilarious! Mike Tyson performed fine. The main character, William, didn't start out with much flavor, but proved to be a decent as the movie went on, and Bruce Willis was believable in his performance as well.

Not the worst movie I have seen by a long shot, even with some of the holes in the script. I didn't start out with any high expectations, but became pleasantly surprised that the film held my attention from beginning to end. I think it is better than where it is stands today at 3/10.

Lacking

This episode was severely lacking compared to the last episode. I was completely underwhelmed, and the commercials were too many, and too long. That stated, I'm still very entertained by the series, and look forward to seeing what will happen next with Gus, Mike, and whether Jessie and Walt will finally make an appearance. Totally bummed by the Kim situation.

Great Entertainment Value

Strictly judging the movie itself, without comparison to the original, it was not disappointing. The plot was good, the acting was great, awesome scenes, very entertaining. That stated, nothing beats the original Matrix.

Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019) Season 8, Episode 5

Great but Terrible.

I loved this episode, but really hate how they managed to turn three heroines, Tyrrian, Jon, and the Kaleesi into villans towards the end. I wanted Aryia to be the one to kill Cersi , and I wanted Jon and Kaleesi to rule together. Instead, Jon went right back to being the nobody, and Bran became king of only six instead of all seven kingdoms. Terrible storyline.

King Richard (2021)

Better than Expected!

This movie was absolutely touching, and inspirational. Great performance by Will Smith. He gets so into his characters that I forget he is Will Smith! I wish it were a mini-series to continue forward a bit more into the legacy.
