Inside Man (2022)
Pure entertainment
Loved it. It is bonkers and weird and totally not to be taken seriously at all. This is pure entertainment. There is some inside no9 in there and the unrealistic plots as in midsomer murders with a lot of humor and great acting. Tennant at his best. There is someone here writing don,t waist your time. That is arrogance. I am perfectly capable of judging what i like or not for my own. It is better not to act on any of these negative reviews and see for yourself, because the negatives reviews for me personally were completely wrong and I would have missed a wonderfull tv show if I had given this a miss because of the majority of negative reviews. Life is serieus enough and tv shows are full of it specially with all these crime dramas (far to much of them on tv) and this is different. Different is good.
Around the World in 80 Days (2021)
Great tv show
Loved it. It is an adaptation. It says so in the title. So it is rather stupid to compare it to the book. If you want a Jules Verne version then read the book. So you don,t have to spew your criticism on this lovely family tv show. I totally had it with these pc people that pop up almost at every tv show the BBC majes. Every tv show is scrutinised by them. It is pc this and pc that. What is your problem? Get a live. It is fun, it is just a tv show ov an adventure for our entertainment not a documentary or a political program.
Furia (2021)
Dissapointing end
The first episodes are an interesting build up to the main event, the big finale. But this finale was so very predictable. You just know that Furia will save the children in the school in the last second of the countdown. Even if she has to fight for her live first where she survives every blow she gets. I ffwd her fight at the end beacuse It was obvious the she would come out on top. That is writing without fantasy. Its a basic ending of a series where the good guys save the day. That is ok but there are much more interesting ways to write an ending. This way it was very unrealistic. She must be super woman. Out of this world I think. She can take on a whole terrorist cell by her self. You don,t need a police force or anti terrorist unit. They were the extras this series. The only thing we need is a girl like Furia.
Secret Nazi Bases (2019)
Irritating so called experts indeed
I agree with all the aforementoined reviews. The presenters are very annoying. Everything they say is obviously scripted and is repeated in every episode again and again. And all these so called experts have the same script. But these so called experts are no experts at all. Not of WW2 structures and weapons and tactics. And they like to give us the idea that they have visited the sites themselves but they obviously never did. Only the Polish guy has. But that is how a script (in this case a very bad one) works. Show them some footage first and then give them some lines to speak in fron of a camera that obviously ads no value to the footage at all. These so called experts do there presenting (or better there guessing) in one and the same place so they have done it for all episodes in a mornings time I guess. It is not like James Holland who is a real presenter, expert and historian of Nazi structures, weapons and tactics and who goes out into the field. This is a sad documentary compared to nazi megastructures.
The Watch (2020)
Bizar
It is a bizar fantasy story but i like it. You don't have to take it al, to serious because it is totally not and sometimes it is even funny (a anti violant spell turning out in a dance between the opposers LOL). I don,t know about a book and that it might not be true to the story in the book. Who cares about that. It is a tv show and you can,t compare books with tv adaptations. That is stupid. You can,t with Harry Potter, LOTR, GOT etc etc etc. Who ever watches tv shows only to compare it with the book? That will never work. Judge it for wat it is. A tv show and like it or not for what it is. I like it.
Whitstable Pearl (2021)
I am not deaf
My God what a boring series with bad acting and stupid storylines and so sloooow. And someone is trying to be funny with a joke about a hearing aid that is older then the road to Rome. It is 75% boring soapy stuff en 25% solving a murder. Never does it get interesting. After 15 minutes in episode 2 I gave up. Switched over to Endeavour Morse.
Interrogation (2020)
No resolution so why bother
I was happy with the announcement in the first 10 seconds of the first episode that there is no resolution. So i did not have to bother anymore. I imediatly deleted all the episodes I recorded. There are so many tv shows out there and so little time to wacht them all and with this one I am not going to waste my time.
Ancient Aliens (2009)
Pseudo everything
I watched my first episode (Nazca lines) and that was also my last. Having flown over the Nazca lines myself and read about it and watched docs on NGC on the subject I was interested. And because it was broadcasted on the History Channel i thought it would be an interesting learning thing to watch. But what a load of rubbish. The true definition of pseudo science. Aliens mining materials for there propulsion systems? What a laugh. It was no big deal for the ancient Nazca people to leave there mark in the dessert for more than a 1000 years. Just removing some rocks and a small top soil layer does the trick and it will remain visible for eternity in human terms. But aliens who supposingly mined all sorts of pressious elements there did not leave any mark visible??? I would gladly hire them to clean my house. And then these pseudo what ever they call themselves combine the Nazca lines with crop circles to put it to us as evidence that aliens are still visiting us. The math students that made all these crop circles in the last years are still lying under the table from laughter. Does nobody in that circle of beleivers want to see that the first crop circles were amateuristic simple circles and that the are getting better and better. So highly advanced aliens with spaceships undetected by us had to exercise first with a simple round shape crop circle before they could make the fractals they are making now. LOL.
Inside No. 9: Simon Says (2021)
Great episode
I loved this episode almost as much as i loved the first episode of this series. Episode 1 was a laugh and intelligent writing and this one was dark as usuall but maybe a bit predictable. Offcourse the first fan is going to end up dead and that is your twist no1 and because there is always a twist no 2 the other fan is alive until he also ends up dead. It is the series format. That is why i give the first episode a 10 because it was funny and different and this one a 9. I hope the next episode is going to be a surprise again.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.7 (2021)
No explosion
Not the explosive final I hoped for. But honestly, Buckles was the only remaining suspect and the misspelling always suggested that there was a bit of an idiot pulling all the strings. And only he fits that bill. Who gives himself away like that? So it was no suprise that he was the fourth man. The way he looked when they murdered his so called new celmate was a total give away. It was clear that he was more then just a bent cop. But it was not the explosive end i got to like so much in this series. AC12 ends up with a bureacrat. Nothing really changes at the level of institutions and politics. So that is basically like in real life. Perhaps the endings was more realistic then the rest of the whole series. What we like to see is the ultimate happy ending : Hastings getting his job back, Buckles getting what he deserves, a big clean up at the highest level of the force and everybody happy at there job. The world is saved. But now there remains unfinished businesses, not everything is clear and is that not a good reason for a new season. I hope so but I am afraid not. Sometimes the actors themselves are just finished with a show or the characters they played for many years. It is not like death in paradise where you can change the cast every 2 years without changing much. You have to keep the main cast complete every season. Especially this show.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
Night king deserved better
It is a proven concept that when all the odds are against and there is no hope at all, the cavalry comes in and saves the day. This has literally succesfully been done so in this series before with Jon Snow. But a flying Ayra, coming from nowhere fooling an entire army of bad guys who are winning the war, ending a battle and thereby basically ending the GOT series in a matter of seconds, is a real let down.
I understand that you have to finish the night king off somehow. But honestly.. with all we have seen of the night kings army of the dead and the way this battle goes it was never ever realistic that the night king could ever be defeated. And what of its white generals or are they his family. Who knows who they really were. You kill the king and the whole army and race dies. How stupid is that.... There is not a second in charge or prince to take over his role.... what a stupid army.... Why, what did they want? Who are they? Honestly these guys don,t have a storyline at all.... We learn more about dragons than the main bad guys...when Sam killed one earlier why did the others then survive and but now die all together??? There story does not make sence.
It is a real writers mistake to build a story line of a night king that makes basically every death of him an unrealistic scenario. Dragon fire cant kill him, Jon Snow would never realistically have had a chance to kill him in battle. So we invent a flying Ayra and that has been the most dissapointing and bad choice ever. The night King deserved a much better ending. Or maybe he should have been the new king of the seven kingdoms. End of GOT. The latter being the most realistic scenario.
Line of Duty: Episode #6.1 (2021)
Bit slow
This episode lacks the atmosphere that was always in place in the first 5 series. The streets are empty, the acting is wooden. It is different. But I am not giving up on the best series ever made, because I hope to learn the identity of H. I am irtitated by people bringing up there PC remarks again. What the hell is wrong with you? I see people not colours. I don,t care who is playing what part. They are all just people. If you bring PC into every review you write then you have a strange way of looking at a tv show. It is just a series to enjoy yourself. Leave your stupid PC remarks behind. I guess they are the same people that PC at every other tv series. Pathetic.
Des (2020)
Cigarettes
And the Bafta goes to cigarettes. What a starring role. I was totally distracted by the excessive smoking. Its irritated sound of a cigarette drag made me fast forward for almost 60% of the time. And because i could not find one minute without that stupid smoking this series I gave up. I hate smoking on tv but this was totally and utterly over the top.
Bloodlands (2021)
Grand, just grand
Loved the first two episodes. Can' t wait for the last two. Obviously it is just fiction and It does not resemble the complex true situation of the troubles. But it is very entertaining and watching it the time flew. For me that is the mark of a good series.
The Terror (2018)
Season 1 gripping story
After having read Palin's book on the subject, I was interested to see the story on screen. I loved the first two episodes. But I had a realy hard time getting everything that was said. Even with headphones on most of the speaking was obscured by other sounds and all the different accents of the crew did not help either. I was enjoying some crisps when watching it but I had to stop chewing every time somebody was saying something. I guess I missed about 40% of what was said. So I have stopped watching it on the BBC and I am looking for a download with subtitles because i really want to watch it all.
The Crown: Matrimonium (2017)
Boring
What a boring episode. Starring this episode are cigarettes not the actors. More a smoking commercial then interesting drama. I loved the Hitler episode but this one i could not get through.
The Serpent (2021)
Time leaps and languages all over the place
As a Dutch national I can,t even understand what Knippenberg is saying LOL. A meeting with a Belgian embassy employee does not have to be in English (they speak Dutch or French). And a Dutch educated embassy employee does not have to speak English to his German wife (we are perfectly capable to speak and understand German and Vice Versa). But then the actors playing the ambassador and the murdered couple are real dutch actors. So in fact only the supporting characters are original. What a nonsens. The main characters, our murdering couple, speak then in French (she french canadian, he vietnamese) and then in English with each other. What a mess. So what a mean to say is that it is all over the place and that is very irritating. At the end of episode 1 I already lost my focus. Don,t think I will get through the other episodes.
Young Wallander (2020)
Not bad at all
Obviously this is not the young Wallander from the Mankell books and also not from the tv series. They gave him his name for some reason but after the first 5 minutes I already left the original story of the books, did not bother to compair and enjoyed myself with this series. I have read all the Wallender books (including young Wallander). And none of the three tv series i knew before this new one comes in fact (for me that is) close to the Wallander in the books.
The BBC series with Brannagh is inspired on the books but totally in the wrong order and the storyline is edited. But it is a good serie on its own. For instance in the books the south African episode is about the assasination attempt against Nelson Mandela but they obviously changed that. And it is in the beginning of the book series not somewhere at the end. But that is what they do when they make a tv series out of a book series. It is always going to be an interpretation or edit.
The last swedisch series was entirely written for tv with help from Mankell himself . This version of Wallander came closer to my own version in my head than Brannagh did. On its own it is again a great series. The first Swedisch series (not the same actor as the last series) was in sync with the books but was very slow and boring to watch.
So there is really nothing wrong with a totally out of time made up young Wallander. Just forget the original books then this series is allright.
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
Not my cup a tea
The first episode was already more than enough schitt for me. It is not funny at all. To north american for me I guess. Not my kind of humor at all.
Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks (2021)
Good to have her back indeed
I was seriously entertained by this episode. Lots of action and my favorite bad guys the Daleks. They are killers but they are so funny. What more could I wish for? It is scifi and everything can happen but some people here expect a shakespeare drama. It is light entertainment. I always enjoy the bashers here with there poison. The more they write there negative remarks on Jodie and Chibnal (definitly it is there own agenda and possibly it gives them a meaning in life), the more I enjoy this show. So i,d say keep them coming and keep on writing docter who episodes mr. Chibnal. To the bashers: there are a lot of buttons on your remote, if you dont like this doctor who series wit Jodie and Chibnall or even hate it for whatever reason as some do, then use your remote and watch something you do like. I do it all the time myself. You are waisting your energy and all your negativity will not change a thing. They will not change the series for you.
Black Narcissus (2020)
Boring
I gave it a chance, but i agree with the negative reviews. It is utter boring. After 5 minutes into episode 2, I gave up.
Vliegende Hollanders (2020)
Historicaly untrue
In the episode of the three crashes Plesmans son dies. There were three crashes but this one is not true. It was not the Stern that crashed in the Alps but de Gaai. Plesmans son Jan Leendert was not on board and was in reality shot down in 1944 flying a spitfire. He is a so called engelandvaarder (people who fled nazi occupation with risk of execution when cought, to join the allied forces in England). I can,t believe that they totally twisted this fact (a hero in my book) to fit into there story for dramatic effect. He gave his life for the fight against the Nazi,s but gets this stupid alternative story???? He deserves better. The nickname of Jan was flying Dutchman by the way. I loved this show but this totally ruined it for me. Not interested anymore.
Le bureau des légendes: Episode #5.10 (2020)
What a strange last two episodes
I basically loved all the episodes of the 5 series and i was so looking forward to an epic series finale a la homeland and sorts. But what was this? This was boring and totally out of character series wise. Well ok... there was one dramatic event but you could see that coming from miles. Even malotru himself predicted that there would be an act of revenge on him and it would hurt where it really hurts. So the smartest spy out there, who was always as carefull as could be, did not prevent the killing of the love of his live. But why all these unimportant side stories in the last two episodes. They came from nothing and when into nothing. And some of the spies in the field had no proper ending at all. What was this all about. I gave the whole series a 9 but the last two episodes not more then a 4.
Homeland: Prisoners of War (2020)
Not what i expected
The ending was not the ending with a bang i had hoped for. Of the last series this episode was not great. It is totally not convincing that Carrie who is not trustworthy at all for any off the sides she plays with, is given any insight in Russian secrets. It makes the Russians total idiots. It should have ended with Carrie locked up for ever on Sauls order on pills and electro shocks as pay back for the death of his interpretator spy. Her story should end there. I got the impression that he felt more for his Russian spy than for Carrie. His Russian spy was already a part of Sauls libe even before Carrie was at high school. Saul himself should have ended up with dementia or whatever cared for by his sister. All of there lives should have just faded away as old soldiers never die, they fade away. I also could have lived with Carrie or Saul dying in the last episode. The shelf life of a spy is very limited. All the others have died in the series (Brody, Quinn, Max, Dar Adal e.o.) but Carrie goes on for ever (not concincing at all). This ending implies that it all starts over again but just out of our sight. So not a real ending at all. They missed a good opportunity for a great ending.
Normal People (2020)
Boring
Started off nicely. The first episode was promissing. I have just watched episode 7 but i have forwarded it most of the time. I was starting to get bored from episode 4-5 onwards and the whole melancholic atmosphere is realy starting to annoy me now. It is much of the the same every episode. This story can easily be told in 1 hour. I think the story is more suited for a book (not read it) than a tv series. I further agree on all the things already said here on the subject off casting (to old for 18 years teens) and blend personalities (no development).
