OK,so I'm a 58 year old kid.this is my favourite movie of all time.i watch it every day and never tire of it.the kids are so natural.i managed to buy 10 copies at a video rental garage sale.gave a copy to my grandchildren.they also love it.it is obvious the author grew up in this type of environment.many older adults could relate to this type of childhood fun.i have gone through 3 of my copies.after all 20 years of watching the same movie every day ,has to damage the tape.i wish there were more movies like this.its beautiful, funny, sad, happy all in one neat little package.how many of us have built snow forts, played war games, fallen in love with the enemy, had to bury a much loved pet.many of us.it is my childhood relived.

absolute class
9 February 2006
as always ,anything Robert Redford does is pure class.i really enjoyed this movie.the acting ,superb.there is nothing worse than seeing a movie with what i call, over dramatic actors.unfortunately, there are many of them around.the horse whisperer, really left me thinking about the whole story, you feel as though you are part of it.i have seen it 26 times and still enjoy every minute of it.i must confess,i do not really have a favourite movie, actor, actress or type of movie.I'm inclined to rate all that i do see on a scale of one to ten.i would give this one a rating of 9.i do admire the fact there was no nudity or full sex scenes.i don't think the latter is really necessary.

brilliant exposure of domestic violence
3 January 2006
the author of the book, was brave enough to expose domestic violence.the mere fact it turned into a movie was just great.the acting. first class stuff.this is not just a problem for Maori in NZ but many cultures and people from all walks of life.one of the most powerful movies i have seen.great stuff kiwis.i am a kiwi, now living in the u.s.a. the Maori are a unique and beautiful race of people.they are also very talented.the actors are just brilliant.these people also have beautiful voices and a great natural rhythm.temuera Morrison (jake heke)is an icon.cliff Curtis (bully)is also now a n.z.icon.Alan duff, the author of the book, has been instrumental in ensuring all kiwi kids have books to own.since the production of this great movie,NZ has managed to place itself on the map.i have loved the movies since i was a tiny girl.to see a production of this standard come out of this tiny country is mind boggling.there is too much domestic violence in the world, there are many movies portraying it,but this one did it the best.
