The Sandman (2022– )
1/10
Listen to the Audiobook!
6 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
My original review was rejected... here's a more acceptable version.

This trash is a perfect example of why the powers that be ruin everything.

The audiobook, with an amazing cast, nails it. I literally reread the comics while listening to, and it's an adaption worthy of the effort and time.

This, on the other hand, is not. Miscasting all over the place. If you think the original lacked minorities etc, you weren't paying attention, it had all of that and for the time it was written, amazingly so. If you'd merely left it alone, it would have been great.

The missing characters say it all... Eve. Glob. Hector as Sandman. Merv. (sorry, one cameo moment for a major character is insulting). The ruined characters abound, and the distorted characters don't help matters at all. Honestly, Death might be most tolerable of the lot.

Her and Hob made that one episode the best of the 10, and the closest to the source material.

Added: the eleventh episode, with the Cat dream and the Muse is also decently adapted.

Don't waste your time. Listen to the Audio series with your eyes closed and you'll get better visuals and story telling. Or God forbid, read the original.

Sad to think they plan on more of this. The Wake is better than this Zombie Resurrection of Morpheus' tale. The audiobook lived up to the comics... This does not.

Here After (2020)

Meh, plot was bland, story was worse.

Sorry fellow reviewers, Christina Ricci was nothing special in this film. The story failed to be consistent, and the ending felt forced.

When the best friend watching nudes is the best part of the movie, you need a better script.

The Expanse (2015–2022)
10/10
Excellent but the books are even better

Warning: Spoilers
If you like this series, then read the books. You can even just read 7-9 (1-6 basically are the TV show), but you'll be slightly confused by minor changes overall, and really in season 5-6 there are some character/plots changes that really matter. The series has a few improvements for sure: the character of Ashford, as played by David Straithairn is amazing acting, and in the books, he's not nearly the same depth.

But here's the thing about the books: the last books END well. And that's the best part of a long story, it ends and you feel a sense of closure. Yes it skips 10-20 years.... That's a good thing. It allows the characters to grow.

I was 100% happy with the ending. You will be too. It's not all happy but it is a good ending. Character Archs matter, and the books do it right.
