Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: A Quality of Mercy (2022)
It doesn't get any better!
There's not too many times one can finish watching an episode of.. Well, anything, and say 'Wow, that was AMAZING!'.. but this was one of those times.
One of the all-time great episodes, right up there with the best of STNG!
Killing Eve (2018)
Round in circles
I started to get burned-out on this show partway through Series 3...no forward momentum, and really just a stylish muddle. Wish I'd bailed then, cause it hasn't gotten any better. Good performances, some delightful pieces, but we're going nowhere fast.
Star Trek: Discovery: Rubicon (2022)
I'm not sure I can make it to the end...
Three things:
the irony of Suru claiming 'in critical times like these we don't have time to deal with our feelings'.
Burnham - not a captain. You put her alongside Picard and, oh dear.
Lastly, "Let's fly"? Say what? Are we captaining a starship, or selling package holidays...
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
No science fiction soul
I hoped that the hiatus meant a massive revamp of this show: alas it was not to be.
As a kid who grew up watching the first series every week, it's such a disappointment to watch this dross: I found myself idly checking my phone while it was on. Make it end, please.
Star Trek: Discovery: ...But to Connect (2021)
How could this be so bad?
Described as a tension-filled episode... Good grief, I've watched Christmas pantomimes with more tension!
The weak stories, vapid characters, and abandonment of the Star Trek brand qualities had me considering just switching it off. It felt like everyone has given up. Maybe the one-month hiatus will involve some very hard conversations...
Star Trek: Discovery: Stormy Weather (2021)
Oooh make it stop will ya?
I've been a Star Trek fan since the first series in the 60s, and enjoyed series 1,2 and 3 of Discovery: but series 4 is rubbish.
I don't mind you addressing social issues: ST has always done that, but this series has abandoned good science fiction story-writing to bend over backwards to prove how socially aware it is, and even that isn't done well.
It's embarrassing and sad.
Lovecraft Country (2020)
Loving this show
I didn't know what to expect, and have been delighted. The African American perspective is refreshing, and the adventure element is great fun.
Tayna pechati drakona (2019)
A flawed adventure romp
I think some reviewers must have watched a different movie. Arnie and Jackie were in it plenty, and the movie, though clumsy in places, was fun and visually sumptuous. A good family watch.
