Kong: Skull Island (2017)
absolute garbage , offending to the black and white Kong
Seldom you will find me writing a review here, but I am so angry after watching this tripe that I need to let my frustration out :This hollywooddisaster called Kong : Skull Island, shows exactly what is wrong with hollywood ( notice the small letters, because they are for a long time not big anymore) I dearly remember the original King Kong movie, back in former age : perhaps the animation etc was not up to standards we now know, but we could BELIEVE in the characters portrayed, we COULD FEEL empathy with them, We could live happily in the fantasy story. Look at this rip off of ripoffs ; nothing of the former noted. Hollywood has become a special effects machine, mostly filled with a lot of violence (but no boobies because that supposedly by these producers could be offensive (?!!!) ) Violence, action, no story, no acting needed anymore these last ten years or so. this garbage is a perfect example how hollywood nowadays denies their roots, and just complies by what they think is what moviegoers nowadays want to see. I will not go into all the stupid inaddequasies in the movie, as many, thank Kong !, already did before me, we, movielovers are surely not taken seriously sad sad sad, the cinema screen now belongs to violent, and/or bloody action movies, not to watch a well written, well acted, well produced story, alas ; but we still have Europeen Cinema !
The AristoCats (1970)
better through the years
Watching this movie when it was first released, it left a good feeling already: a simple story, but a very happy one, also helped with a nice musical soundtrack. Through the years I enjoyed watching it several times, and my appreciation grew .
The characters are funny, the animation is nice, like 101 damations, the style is nice and this pic I share amongst the best animated movies from Disney: not sentimental and just plain fun to watch. Recommended !
Robin Hood (2010)
disapointing
With a high class cast, a good director this movie is entertaining until two-third of its running time. Until the last part the movie is entertaining enough, then plunges in a lot of fighting scenes, I could no longer endure, and I left the movie, disapointed. why nowadays there is so much explicit violence included into the stories told ?
Is it because it reflects our times ? But why audiences like to see so much blood and gore as they can see that on our daily news ? A mystery to me. Where are the simple, well told stories, about human condition like for instance Cria Cuervos? why movies are nowadays so full of special effects, are moviemakers nowadays afraid of pure storytelling and for the big money they add so much unnecessary violence ? Gladiotor contained some grafic violence, but it added to the storytelling and not as a means to simply show blood and gore.
Perhaps the reason that more and more people like to watch animated stories, who sometimes still has a story to tell. (Spirited away, When Marnie was there, The red Turtle). I would wish the European Cinema would become more in focus, many films made in Europe still tells interesting stories , not filled with continious battles, swordswaying etc.
I really miss storytelling in present movies, especially from Hollywood. I like to see less sequals only made to exploit earlier boxoffice succes, and more original stories. (how many times story of Robin Hood already has been told?
Give us some original stories, with believable character, fine actors and actresses, who do not only have to act against bluescreens !
Het debuut (1977)
exploitation by director of young teen
This woman's lib director made this debut with a full lengt movie, along with her two main actors, Marina de Graaf and Gerard Cox.
The story is not new ; young girl falls in love with elderly man.
Why Nouchka van Brakel choose this (lousy) script to make her debut movie is beyond my comprehension. Perhaps something that was lingering from her own past made her decide to do this terrible flick.
The directing sucks, the acting is cardboard character trying to remember their lines, subsequently the dubbing is also awfull; a chance missed: perhaps in dubbing they could ad some sincerity and believability, Alas, this is a movie to quickly forget.
I gave it two stars instead of one, because the young actress, Marina de Graaf shows some attempts to act naturally, her mother in this "movie" gives away one of many of her bad performances in Dutch films.
The man this young girl falls in love with, is mediocre and let you think why the hell a young girl would fall in love with him .
Thinking, the director of this exploitation maovie calls herself a Feminist, you wonder why she adds so many nude scenes of a young girl into her debut.
Stinks !
