Horizon (I) (2019)

The whole thing was made for £30k

Reading some of the reviews make me wonder what people really expect. OK it's not a Hollywood blockbuster produced by a big studio it was a web series made by a company in Bristol who patched it together and released a movie and considering this whole 2hr movie had a total budget of £30k it's bloody good. I imagine most of the actors and crew would have worked for free and the budget went on the production costs. It's got a good solid story, the acting seemed a bit wooden in the first scene but soon loosened up the further it went on, the story flowed smoothly with plenty of backstory and we even had flashbacks a few hundred years. All in all it's not a bad movie for the very small budget, I'd recommend it to people who like indie movies just don't expect billion dollar budgets!

Strawberry Spring (2021 Podcast Series)

Great but ruined by adverts

Great audio drama well made from a Stephen King short story, it has good production values and it gets you interested from the start. It has a few big name stars involved like Sydney Sweeney but it's pretty pointless when it's audio unless they have an individual well known voice. The big name stars are probably the reason for the excessive adverts as they require higher pay. The adverts are at the beginning, multiple times in the middle which are very intrusive and then at the end. I can handle they at the beginning and end but in the middle it ruins the enjoyment especially when they start during a really tense part!

Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024)

Very poor

It's not until I watched Star Trek strange new world that I realised just how bad the last season (season 4) was. Don't get me wrong the first 3 seasons were watchable but in the end I got sick of the constant crying and whispering and people talking more about how they feel than actually doing anything. The more characters they have introduced the more annoying they are, the "Adira & gray" characters made me want the Borg to turn up and assimilate them and the fact they have no no strait white men anywhere makes me think there must have been some secret space plague that wiped them all out. I feel the only way to save this show is to wipe the whole cast out and start again!

Comically bad

What a load of rubbish, it's shocking this even got made. The acting and made up evidence is terrible and obviously fake, some of the "celebrities" I'd expect this from but surely Toyah Wilcox doesn't need to embarrass herself by doing this kind of thing!

Star Trek: Discovery: ...But to Connect (2021) Season 4, Episode 7

I fell asleep

I used to enjoy Discovery but this season is terrible and this episode was a new low because it actually sent me to sleep. I'm starting to think the only way to save this show is to get rid of the whole cast and start again!

Star Trek: Discovery: Anomaly (2021) Season 4, Episode 2

It's getting worse each episode!

I've always enjoyed Discovery but this season is bad and this episode was a new low. About 40mins of a 45min episode was people either crying or talking about relationships & emotions while pushing the "we are family" rubbish down your throat with 5mins left to the actual story. It's just getting boring now!

Pretty Smart (2021)

Pretty good

It's actually pretty good, it's obviously comedy for the younger generation that some of us older people don't fully get but the idea of the show is great and Emily Osment & Gregg Sulkin make the show because they are 2 genuinely funny people. My only gripe is the terrible canned laughter track, it's off putting and would be much better without it.

I only watch every now and again but Gina Corano was amazing tonight, I totally enjoyed it she's such an awesome person.

Voyagers (2021)

The story was obvious and the characters unbelievable, by about 1/2 way I wanted the ship to blow up just so it ended.

It's obviously a filler episode because it was so boring, anything of any importance lasted about 10mins then the rest was pointless. I'd rather they just didn't make these episodes then have 1 less episodes in the season!

Woke & boring

I really was loving this season of STD but this episode was felt like some kind of box ticking exercise to appease the younger generation. It was god awful boring. I really hope it was a one off because if the rest of the season follows suit I'll be turning off.

The Three Musketeers (2011)

Not that bad

It's wasn't as bad as some say. It starts off the same as the original book but then takes a "wild Wild West" turn and goes all steampunk with flying ships. It's a fun film to watch with some good fighting scenes but if you want a serious version I'd watch the 1993 version.

Typical BBC ruining something with its PC statements. If you have read the classic or seen the other versions you will be disgusted to find out Van Helsing is now a Nun.

I have no idea what other surprises the BBC will have in store for episode 2 (probably a baddy named "the brexit monster who can only be defeated by the hero Jeromy Corbyn) but I won't be watching anyway.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Dee Day (2019) Season 14, Episode 3

One of the best

This to me was one of the best episodes, I love it when Dee gets one over on the rest of the gang.

The only thing better than the episode is the 1* uproar in these reviews by people being offended. Seriously by season 14 you should know what the show is like!

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)

Stories to fall asleep to

I had really high hopes for this film but it was terrible, during the whole thing I didn't feel remotely scared once, it didn't even have any jumpy bits. I suppose if you have kids of around 10yrs old they may enjoy it but there isn't anything for real horror fans.

Child's Play (2019)

Surprised how much I enjoyed it

I'm actually really surprised just how much I enjoyed this. I remember and lived the original but this updated version brings the ideas into the 21st century.

Unlike the original Chucky is no longer a serial killer who used magic to transfer his soul in to a doll. In this version Chucky is created to be evil by a vengeful employee and because he's plugged in to the WiFi and cloud can take over all smart appliances. Anyway Chucky bad and gets all stabby in some very inventive ways.

I've added an extra star for Aubery Plaza, despite it being a horror film she still manages to remind me of April Ludgate-Dwyer from parks and recreation and I kept expecting her to start scaring Chucky.

Another Life (2019–2021)

Don't understand the hate

I just don't get the hate for this show. I'm on episode 8 and up to now it's been some excellent sci-fi. I'm not a binge watcher but I've watched multiple episodes back to back and not once have I been bored.

I'd advise to give it a go because I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

The Devil Within (2010)

So bad its unreal

OMG this film is so bad its unreal, in fact its that bad I've even took the time to write this review which is something Id only do if something annoyed me so much that I feel I need to warn others.

How it was ever made with such a crap script and bad actors is beyond me, it really has nothing good about it...... Oh I tell a lie the only 1/2 decent thing about it is partly clothed hot chicks; apart from that its not worth the energy pressing play on you DVD player!!!

Hopefully there wont be a sequel and this film will be quickly forgotten because I for sure won't be remembering it!

Hopefully this will stop others for making the same mistake as I did by watching this!
